Make sure you discuss pricing in advance before you receive a big surprise like I did. They arrived to my house in an ambulance and charged me an incredibly high amount. I called Al's Plumbing LLC four days prior to the service day. I informed the owner that I had a serious water leak coming from the second floor bathroom tub into my kitchen ceiling. Then I informed him that I needed the water leak fix ASAP and a detailed report of the water leak and repairs to submit the insurance company. The owner reassured me that he would repair the water leak and type the detailed report for the insurance company. The day of the appointment he sent an apprentice who was not experienced and was uncertain about where the water leak was coming from. The apprentice was a very nice young man however, did not render the services I inquired and paid for. Finally, the owner charged me $505.16 for not rendering services. When I inquired about fixing the water leak they disregard me and when I continued to call several times after a week for a detailed report of the water leak for the insurance company they never emailed me the report and the owner made excuses saying he was in motor vehicles and more... He was even aggressive on the last call when I spoke to him about the water leak. Please save your time and money and call another plumber. I am so pleased with Al's plumbing! reported a gas leak to scgc and found out there were 4. called Al's to come out and give estimate really nice guy and very straightforward... his son Mike came to do the work that SAME DAY! After examining pipes he located 2 more gas leaks(YIKES .. 6!!!) MIKE AND LIEF were very pleasant , thorough and explanatory. Yhey also fixed my hot water heater which was leaking. We had an emergency flooding caused by a non-functional sump pump. This caused the heater to go out and several pipes then froze and burst. The owner was there within 45 minutes. They began pumping and remediation immediately. Remediation was completed within 3 days. Full repairs were completed in less than 10 days. I was expecting this job to take 30-45 days. The owner was honest, fair, and upfront with costs, and timelines. He went out of his way to get the job done without having to call in other specialists. Absolutely has my recommendation. read more

I wish I had seen the one-star reviews before I called Al's Plumbing. I would have saved my family a week of angst. These are just a few reasons for my one-star review: - Plumber couldn't control his emotions; He was irritable and unpleasant to deal with. We dreaded seeing him each day until the job was done. - The plumber was rude to his helper; This was uncalled for and it made the situation more stressful. - I had to call daily to ask if he would arrive. I had taken time off of work to be home. I don't have the luxury of staying home every day until he shows up. When I asked that he call me if he won't be there as scheduled, someone on the other end of the phone called me an A$$HOLE!! - For what we ended up paying, I would expect better workmanship - I will never... ever... call them again. I had an emergency this past weekend with my water heater and even though it was late in the day someone was out to my house within 30 minutes. Terrible experience. For a simple toilet repair was charged over $500 and was told that they would accept $450 if I paid in cash so that they could bypass the taxes. Fee included a $150 charge to "diagnose" the problem when I already told them what needed to be done. I would never call these ripoff artists again and would have given them zero or negative stars if possible. I wish I had seen the one-star reviews before I called Al's Plumbing. I would have chosen someone else. These are just a few reasons for my one-star review: -When setting up the appointment, I was told by Al that the service fee of $130 would come out of the total if work was done. This did not happen. During this call, I was also told by him that I would receive an estimate once the problem was identified before any work was done. This also did not happen. When I mentioned this to him, he became very defensive stating that they can't estimate how long the work would take to get done (which is very unprofessional). -The person sent out to perform the job did not speak English and therefore could not answer my questions. He was also frequently on the phone during the job. -When he went to get parts, he went to the home improvement store downtown vs. the one down the street (costing more time) -Not all the parts were used in the repair. I asked the man if I was billed for only the parts used and he said I was (I don't think he understood me and did not give me a breakdown of costs at the time so I could not verify this). In the end, the bill included $45 in parts for something that should not cost more than $25 so I was overcharged and charged for all the parts including the ones not used. -After the service was complete, I was given the cost ($480) and had to pay. I asked for a receipt and was told it would be mailed. This did not happen. After one week, I called Al and requested a receipt which I still did not receive. After 2 weeks, I called again asking for a receipt which he stated he texted me one week ago (I did not receive it). Later that day, he texted me a makeshift receipt which did not include start or end time of the job or the complete breakdown of costs. I texted him the next day questioning the bill (as it did not add up) and received a call from a very angry and defensive Al stating "he was not going to argue about getting a discount weeks after the job" although I was never given a breakdown of the cost until the day before. This was very unprofessional as I was just inquiring about the cost difference because I was never given a formal receipt. Although it does seem that I was overcharged. In general, I should not have been asked to pay without a receipt. Very unprofessional. -The job done left me with a slow drain. I mentioned this to Al and he did offer to come by and fix the problem which I initially set up then cancelled because I was too uncomfortable given the previous exchange. I was able to look up how to fix the problem and did it myself. Needless to say, I will never do business with this company again. read more

They charged $330.00 to replace a 5 inch plastic pipe under the kitchen sink that attaches to elbow. The pipe could be purchased for 2 dollars at Lowe's, and repaired in 5 minutes. Charged a total of $540.00 (in cash--apparently the job would me more expensive to pay with your card) to seal up a garbage disposal leak with putty ($150), seal a toilet leak, and also removed a chunk out of the ceiling when dealing with the toilet leak ($225), stating that repairing the hole was not his job, but then offering to do it the following day for a $100-$150, not to mention the ridiculous service call charge of yet another $150. OMG!!! Al's plumbing saved my patootie BIG TIME. ON December 30th, my husband was busy trying to unclog the toilet upstairs. I wondered why the shower was on...again. Imagine my surprise when half the dining room ceiling was my "new shower". Ahem... Toilet water ! LOTS OF ......water making dark spots across the ceiling. Finally, my husband said: okay - call a plumber!! Within 15 minutes, Mike and crew arrived - looked at my dining room and announced: You have a big problem! But, I'll tell you what we are gonna do-- And with that, he assessed the situation and clearly explained why the toilet "blew up" and what we might do to remedy the problem. For the next 2 days, his workmen were at my house, removing the ceiling and any wet stuff up in the rafters. Mike was insistent that for health reasons this was imperative. So, workmen were here even on New Year's Eve!) So, what began as a 10 day job lasted 2 months. Because my husband wanted ALL 4 toilets replaced with SUPER FLUSHERS! In white to save money... He didn't realized that meant 4 new bathrooms because I cannot "go" unless "things match". And- you just cannot paint 1 room...and..so our odyssey began. ... Through all my changes and refiguring Mike and crew were supportive and pleasant. His men were hardworking and skilled. There was never a problem they couldn't solve - happily /. and Mike kept me focused and worked wonders with his communications with my insurance company. He treated us fairly and honestly- I'd recommend Al's Plumbing in a heartbeat! The words would pour out if my mouth before my brain could sync. Get a price before agreeing to service. The owner showed up with two other people so three in total. It was only for a busted frozen pipe. Parts were approximate $25 if that. They were there for less than a half an hour and he originally wanted to charge me $395. I said NO WAY!! and he put the price down a bit to $300. I asked him to explain the charges and this is what he said. $150 to show up an additional charge for the labor of $200 plus parts which he admitted was between $20-$30.(didn't even add up to $395) One of the parts he didn't have on him so I would have to buy it myself and put it on myself. THe labor included the fact that he was at the house after 4pm. The thing is I called him at 2pm and he told me he would be "right there" because he was only a few houses down. It took him 3 hours to get to my house. So the fact that it was after 5pm was NOT my fault. I told him I called other plumbers who quoted me $69 to show up and some even gave free estimates. I knew it was a "high call week" because we just had a snow storm and many people pipes had frozen or burst. Even taking that into consideration HE way overcharged me. The work was done in a matter of minutes. Really I could have done it myself but I wanted it done "properly" since it was a rental. Little did I know he was going to solve the problem exactly how I would have. It would have cost me $100 for the tool and $20 for parts, $120 total. I would have had the tool to keep for the future. I would NEVER call these guys again. When I asked for a receipt, The other plumber was ANGRY, to say the least. Stormed out of the house to the van to get the pad and wrote the receipt out. Not sure why he was so angry about it. They got $100 each guy if they were splitting it evenly (which I doubt since one of the guys was an apprentice and didn't speak much English I think he was either Spanish or Mexican) He was a nice man but the owner only saw dollar signs everywhere. I asked the owner if he was licensed because he didn't do ANY work He said yes, but I'm going to look that up. The young man who did all the work said he was a licensed plumber and wouldn't want to be an apprentice ever again. I believed him. The third guy, like I said was a helper or an apprentice. Neither of them offered to show me their license. It doesn't take 3 men to fix one busted pipe. It only takes one. If you have to use these guys make sure you get the price UPFRONT so they don't mess with you and change the price around with made up figures until you relent and agree to it. He said if someone didn't pay, he would just rip the work apart and leave I believe that he would.. I would never call them again. read more
