Play area suggested for ages 5+

We stumbled upon this quiet park. It was a great spot to play, swing, and eat our picnic. It is located right across from Liberty Park (ferry to Ft. Sumter). The park had two separate age-themed (2-5 and 5+) play structures which were both well enjoyed by my rambunctious son. I used a meter for parking, but later noticed a row of free parking (far side, parallel with the play grounds). The park also offers public bathrooms, a walking track, plentiful benches, tables and swings. Dog (on leashes) friendly.

Gadsdenboro Park is a great open space park in Charleston. It has plenty of room to play, stretch out, and relax. Great place to catch some quiet time during the middle of the day. One of my favorite parks in Charleston. Really cool park that is well designed and much needed.

This is a very well manicured newly finished park that features a soccer field, adult friendly swings, a playground area and a fountain. My favorite parts though are the bocci court & chess tables. It's in close proximity to the Charleston Harbor so there are a few glimpses of the water as well as the Ravenel Bridge from the park.

However the park we planed to eat at had been turned into the IAAM (International African American Museum) so we came to Gadsdenboro.

It is a favorite among Charleston locals and tourists alike. This park is ideal for a sunset picnic or a relaxing stroll, and it only adds to the romantic charm of Charleston. It won the 2007 Landmark Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects, confirming its status as a Charleston treasure. You can stroll through the gardens, walk the esplanade, or spend some time at one of the many fountains. Spanning over 8 acres and located less than a mile north of The Battery, Waterfront Park has become a beloved Charleston fixture. It is home to one of the city's most photographed sites: the pineapple fountain. In Charleston's scorching summer months (and we faced that too), visitors (especially children) can be found cooling off in the shallow water of the fountain. Wide walking paths, dozens of benches, well-manicured green spaces, picturesque Palmetto trees, and a famous Pineapple Fountain adorn the park.
