I showed up with 9 other girls, with a reservation, for a bachelorette party (masks and all) and we were greeted by the nastiest woman. She keep insisting we did not have a reservation even though we had a confirmation of said res. She had a miserable attitude and made no effort to accommodate us after we repeatedly told her we had a reservation and paid the $30. The owner was also zero help. Will 100% never return because there are many other beautiful, accommodating wineries with wonderful staff in the area! Don't waste your time here if you have a group! read more

I do not take this lightly, ESPECIALLY during covid, I would never want to hurt a small business but the way myself, friends and family were treated was extremely upsetting. Truly, I have never been treated so rudely by an staff member. We were celebrating my bachelorette (safely with covid) and had paid to make a reservation for us, as instructed on their website. It was our first stop and the lady behind the counter was so unnecessarily rude and mean refusing to acknowledge that we had paid for a reservation and kept saying "well I don't know anything about that" when the owner walked in she literally said "here's the owner, he can deal with it" and walked away. Needless to say, the negative energy and vibe made us all very unwelcome. We did not stay for our reservation that apparently didn't exist, even though we had the email confirmation. We are in the process of trying to get a refund. I really hope as an establishment you look at this review and try to do better and have your staff do better. We were so excited to come and it really put a negative spin on our entire day. read more

Gadino Cellars is a nice winery with a rustic feel. The wine was not the best, but considering they just opened in 2005-I'd say, its not bad at all. They are very nice. Their family is from Abruzzo, Italy. read more

I have never written a poor review, and Gadino Cellars will be my first due to the atrocious experience my group had here this past weekend. We had a group of 10 for a tasting. Due to COVID, we made sure to contact the winery 2 weeks in advance to ensure they could accommodate us. One of the members in our group made a reservation and PAID to secure it. When we arrived, we were immediately greeted with icy stares from the woman working at the front counter. It took her at least a few minutes to make eye contact and acknowledge us, and once she did, it was all downhill from there. She insisted that she "knew nothing about our reservation." We repeated multiple times that we made a reservation, AND PAID FOR THE RESERVATION. She refused to acknowledge what we were saying, completely trying to gaslight us into making us think we were all crazy. And then proceeded to tell us we needed a reservation...even though we told her multiple times we had one! Not ONCE did she look to check a reservation book, a computer, ask someone else, nothing. Finally, a man came over who I believe was the owner, and she handed us off to him. On top of not wearing a freaking mask, he was just as rude and condescending. He also did not check any system to see if they could find our reservation information. Eventually, he offered to set up a table for us, and although we were torn because we had already paid a deposit, we decided to leave and take our business elsewhere. There are way too many friendly, beautiful, and accommodating wineries in this area for us or any of you to waste your time and money at this horrible excuse of an establishment. read more

I wanted to love this place. The Yelp reviews led me to believe I would love this place. Alas, I cannot give them five stars. When we arrived we pulled up to an open spot and were informed that there was a wait list. So onto the wait list we go and it was probably 10-15 minutes before our names were called along with another name. The place was so popular that even the restrooms were busy, and so my husband had stepped into the men's room when our names were called. The staff member doing our tasting identified herself as Emily. She was apparently eager to get started because she asked me if we could start without my husband and if I would catch him up. I gave her a look and told her that no, I would not catch him up. I feel that when you go to a winery you go for the experience. Otherwise I would just pick up some bottles of wine from Total Wine or something. Thankfully my husband showed up quickly thereafter. The first few bottles she started with were on the verge of empty, so someone among the four of us doing the tasting would end up with nothing or little in their glass as she would go get a new bottle. On the first wine that person was me, so my husband switched glasses with me, a little annoyed that the men were served before the women. From then on Emily served me first. On to the wines: 2011 Pinot Grigio - we both enjoyed this, very light 2011 Chardonnay - very citrusy. My husband ended up getting a glass of this after our tasting. 2011 Luminoso- sold out. Very disappointing as we were both looking forward to trying that wine. Emily suggested we come back July 2013 to try the 2012. 2011 Sunset - this was the wine everyone was raving about on Yelp. It was a great wine. 2011 Moonrise - a rosé style wine. I enjoyed this more than my husband did. 2010 Cab Franc Riserva - neither of us felt this wine stood out, though the description sounded great - dark cherry, blackberry, and vanilla 2009 Imagine - this one was my favorite and I ended up getting a glass after the tasting. I tend to stick to white wines when I get a glass. I walked into the tasting thinking I would get a glass of the Sunset, but I was impressed by the Imagine. I think Emily could tell that I was not all that impressed by the experience; she did not bring out crackers until we tried the fourth wine, Moonrise. She suggested we come back again when the winery was not quite so busy. We sat outside, where musicians were playing on the deck. Then we decided to check out some other wineries, since we had made the long drive out from NoVa. Perhaps it would be a different experience if it had not been Labor Day weekend. Just not sure if it is worth making the drive to see if things improve. read more

The outside area of the winery was beautiful and the wines were pretty good, but the service and attitudes of the employees were awful. We arrived in a large 9 person group and saw the sign on the door that said without advanced notice, only groups of 6 or less could do a tasting together. An employee rudely reiterated this, even though we were the only ones in the tasting room. While I understand the woman who did our tasting was new (at least I assume she must have been), she didn't describe the wine at all, only what types of food it would go with. When my husband went inside to ask for equipment for the bocce set, he was ignored for a long period of time. If you would like a pretty setting for a glass of wine and will forgo the tasting and interacting with the staff, Gadino would make for a nice afternoon. read more

The family that runs this winery is very friendly and the wine is very good. They have a pretty decent setup, a tasting room with with a tasting bar, some places to sit afterward if you want to have a glass of wine and a deck with some tables and chairs. We felt very welcome there and all the other customers seemed to be in a great mood as well. We really enjoyed the experience and we'll definitely be going back. read more

The wine here is not bad but the atmosphere is pretentious. They only give Military discounts on Military holidays. It's a good thing our Military don't choose to serve only on those holidays. There are plenty of other vineyards in the area that have great wine and a welcoming atmosphere. There is also a Yelp coupon when we presented it they made a big deal in front of us that they didn't know anything thing about it. They did end up honoring it after trying to call the owner BUT we were made to feel very uncomfortable. Just honor the coupon and figure it out later. I certainly won't recommend to any of my friends a visit there. read more

Stopped here on our way back to DC from Shenandoah National Park (off of Rt 211E)-- I'm so glad that we did! The winery is about 1 mile off the main drag. After sampling eight delicious wines, we ended up purchasing several fantastic yet affordable bottles for holiday presents. We stopped in after a day on Skyline Drive as its located a mile off of route 211 east of Sperryville, VA. Surprising find and wine tasting is offered at $6 each. Grounds appear to be well maintained and wine prices are reasonable. Tasting room is spacious and would definitely recommend this winery as a nice place to visit if your in the area. read more

We came near close but the staff were welcoming and friendly. The setting is just lovely- would enjoy coming back and sitting out in the sun near the vines with a glass. We just had time for a quick tasting and though most of the wines were fairly run-of-the-mill, my partner and I both found something we liked. They were even willing to share a taste of something not listed on their tasting menu, which was appreciated. We also got to keep our glasses! Overall, very nice experience. read more

This is a great place. I first visited on Presidents Day weekend in 2007 and when I visited again, the same weekend in 2008, the tasting room manager (Stephanie) remembered me. The wines are all good--some house reds and whites (Sunset and Moonrise) are affordable and good everyday wines. My husband had the Cabernet Franc at the Majestic in Old Town, Alexandria and we knew we would have to make a point to stop here during our visit to Washington, VA. The tasting room is spacious with high ceilings and since it is in a very rural county it wasn't crowded as you come to expect some of the wineries closer to DC. It could have also been because it was a cool March day. We were there with only a few other people present which made our tasting much more personalized. We ended up buying a bottle of the Viogner, Luminoso (for my in-laws), and the Cab Franc. We also bought a couple glasses and sat on the porch while we enjoyed some gourmet cheese and chocolate we picked up at the Stoneyman n Washington, VA. Really good wine. The young ladies doing the tastings are well young. Not the same experience as you get at other places. Ginnie was basically snotty. Worst winery experience we have had in a long time. We bought wine because it was good but as far as the tasting experience, this young lady acted as if we were a bother. Last time we were here it was very nice, this time not so much. Thankfully the owner came by and he was very nice and saved the experience. If you don't want to serve us, say so, don't rush through it with an attitude. 2$ extra charge for a drip of the premium wine was ridiculous. Should be a better pour if you are going to charge for it. Good wine but really poor experience. Many other wineries close by that will treat you like they are glad you are there. This place was happy to take our money but not willing to provide the experience they charge for. The owner seemed really nice and the wine is good but the servers ruined the experience. We had three people, they gave us exactly 3 crackers! We will skip this one in the future and advise our friends to do so also. It's a cute place and could be a nice experience but not with their current staff. read more

This winery is a hidden gem. A boutique operation, this family ran business packs a surprise in each of their wines. Tasting was led by one of the partners and she was incredibly knowledgeable. We enjoyed every wine on the tasting menu. We purchased three bottles, two of the 2012 Moonrise and one of the Cab Franc reserve. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience, we will be back! read more

I am nearly heartbroken to write a horrendous review for this place because the wine is quite good; however, a recent experience of being turned away a few minutes before the closure and being told that the "register is closed, but you can buy some bottles (how, right?)" has left me feeling extremely disappointed in one of my formerly favorite wineries in the region. I understand that I was not prompt, but doing a quick 10 minute tasting after I drove there for hours should not be a big deal. What is worse is that the customer service representatives were quite rude about turning me away even after I bought two bottles (without tasting!); never going back there. No quality wine is worth ruining anyone's day. read more

I'm a 3.5 on this one. After reading that they have good whites, we gave it a try after the Skyline Drive. On the day we went, they were only pouring three whites (no Chardonnay, for example). Of the three, we liked the Luminoso enough to pick up a bottle and enjoy a glass in the sun on the deck. Wish the tastings had more of their offerings and were a little more generous but you do get to take the glass home, which is a nice touch. read more

Incredibly rude service as we attempted to make a reservation and they never called back. So we went and they said they did not receive it therefore we were not welcome there. Completely unreasonable and would not accommodate even by splitting up the group as there were no people in the tasting room. I will never go back here and neither should you. AVOID!!! read more

I visited this winery as I was driving down Lee Highway and saw the sign. I was also looking for wineries to visit when friends were in town and compiling a list. I was overly excited when I entered the vineyard and parked as it was a beautiful view. My intention was to sit outside and sip on a a glass of wine. I entered the tasting room and was undecided on a choice of white wine. The lady behind the counter did not extend an offer to try or taste the wine prior to purchase. I overlooked it. I purchased a glass and sat outside. I was about 3/4 through my glass and noticed multiple fruit flies in my glass. They had flown into the glass. I took the glass, still 1/4 full and went into the tasting room to return the unfinished glass and let her know about the flies. Her response "Oh, the flies, is there anything else I can help you with?" No apology, and no offer to possibly give me a new glass (although I would have politely declined and thanked her for the offer). I am writing the review because it comes down to principles of basic customer service. Would not recommend and I won't be returning. read more

This vineyard was so much fun! The view is beautiful and they have Bocce ball! I ended up meeting the owners who were incredibly friendly and nice people. I went around 5PM, so there was no crowd there. The wines were yummy, but I would say that the environment and the owners definitely made this place a 5-star rather than a 4-star review. You cannot beat amazing service, good wine, Bocce ball, and beautiful scenery. read more

I was really excited about visiting this winery today since it was a new one that my group had not yet been to (yearly birthday winery tour for 10 years). When we walked in looking for a tasting for 10 people in a VERY large tasting room where there was NO ONE waiting they told us they would not accommodate us because we needed to make an appointment. I had called the previous Sunday 8/31 and left a message after hours an no one called me back so I assumed we were fine just coming in. We tried to be flexible - separate tastings for groups of 5 would have been fine, but the staff was completely inflexible and very RUDE. And we came in 1.5 hours before they closed - not 5 minutes before. We ended up at Narmada where they graciously had a wonderful tasting for us (even tho they would have normally preferred a phone call. after spending $450 we left Narmada very happy. Too bad Gadino! and NEVER coming back. read more
