I recently changed Hair Salons because I was traveling 30 min to my regular salon. I have always had and requested blond hair color. I recently visited Gadabout Hair Salon on N. Oracle and after 370.00 dlls bill and a dirty dishwater brown hair color by a person that had been with this company 39 years and to make the dark hair even worst ,she added a toner 64.00 dlls without even consulting or explaining the reason for an extra service. When I spoke to the manager at the North Oracle location she offered a redo at a 50 % discount. ZERO CRM and of course I declined !!! read more

My hair appointment had been scheduled for 5 weeks...I showed up at the salon a few minutes early and was told my stylist would be right over. I waited for 15 minutes and the front desk person came over and told me that Gina would be 10 minutes late (It was already 10 minutes past my scheduled time). When asked, she replied that it woul be another 10 minutes....Gina, the hairdresser, had squeezed in a few extra appointments before me. I waited for another 20 minutes and she never showed up! I walked over to tell the front desk that I had to leave for a birthday party and I saw Gina was just blowing out a woman's hair...she wasn't even close to being done. The front desk said they would call and reschedule. They called and left a message that they were sorry that I had to leave before Gina could seat me...WHAT! The fault was mine?! I called them and they said a manager would call me tomorrow...that was 2 days ago and nothing. They may offer you water when you walk in, they may open and close the door for you, but when it comes down to the important stuff...they don't seem to care. read more

I asked for a consultation where I explained exactly what I wanted and the stylist I was given, Daniela, agreed and booked an appointment for me to come in. My appointment was today and when I went in Daniela decided she didn't feel comfortable doing what we agreed upon. When I spoke with a manager she was almost rude and not really apologetic. Seriously bad communications skills, customer service and self awareness. Complete waste of my time and almost half of my day. The good point is that I probably dodged a bullet and bad hair! They make a big point of opening the door for you when you leave and I suggest that you do not even bother going. There are many salons that are great!!! Edit and response: If you have policies I suggest you make them clear to your employees via training or information. There was no misunderstanding. During my consultation with Daniela I told her specifically what color I wanted to use, the brand and how many colors it took to achieve the results. She told me she loved the color and to bring it in. I also told her that if she could figure out how to achieve the same results with her brand of color it was fine with me. She said she would use my color and then eventually perhaps switch over. I told her I was low on a couple of the shades and would order them asap. The first thing she asked me during my actual appointment was did they come on time. Zero misunderstanding. I was completely inconvenienced and the manager you have kindly suggested I reach out to does not know how to deal with customers imo. She kept trying to make me feel pushed for bringing in my own color when it was fully discussed and agreed upon. No apologies from Daniela and just pushback from management. If they had been sweet and apologetic for my time being wasted I wouldn't have bothered to write these reviews. My suggestion to you is training and mentorship for both Daniela and your manager. After Gadabout saw my first review they promptly called me to apologize for the incident that occurred and scheduled me for a new, complimentary appointment with Terry, a "balayage specialist." I was extremely excited about getting my hair done, but was quickly let down by this salon once again. Although, Terry was great as a person, my color did not turn out anything like I asked. I wanted a very blended look, but I received highlights/streaky look(as shown in the pictures). I'm honestly embarrassed to go anywhere because of my hair. I called the salon shortly after my appointment to let them know I was unhappy with my hair. They said because it was a complimentary service(even though Terry told me they were going to charge me for the gloss, $45, as she was putting it in my hair) they are unable to bring me back in to fix it unless I pay for the service($185). I am extremely frustrated with my hair and my experience here. Again, save your hard earned money and time and GO ELSEWHERE!! read more

Oh my word I cannot say enough good things about this place. I did so much research before going to another salon. Peter was super amazing from beginning to end. I kind of told him you know like what I was thinking and like what I was wanting for my hair. And he came through like a champ. It was everything I wanted and more. He also did some thing with my hair so I can look less blocky at the top with my roots grow out to make it blended. He was super conversational and nice to talk to the entire time. And he also gave me a keratin treatment to help my hair. It was 100% worth the price and the experience honestly to make sure my hair was not damaged in anyway and done right. I have previously been to Gadabout and really enjoyed the experience and quality of service at the time. Based on this, I decided to book Gadabout for hair/makeup for my upcoming wedding several months before the wedding date. Unfortunately, I had to cancel all plans with Gadabout and search high and low for another hair/makeup salon for myself and my bridal party just three weeks before the wedding due to several factors, the most prominent of which was a lack of communication and responsiveness from Gadabout's bridal coordinator via phone and email. To add insult to injury, my bridal hair trial was cancelled just a few hours before it was supposed to occur. I'm overall shocked at the unprofessionalism of Gadabout, particularly for something as important as a wedding, and will not be returning or recommending their bridal services to friends/family. read more

June 27, 2023, I was excited to have my hair dyed and styled by a professional but in the end only to walk out so disappointed! As I have always done prior, I alerted the stylist to the fact that ANY shade of brown would make my hair too dark!!!! I actually showed her a picture of what I was aiming for. Because I had gone through a serious illness that thinned out my hair, I knew only a professional would know which would be the best recourse, I had paid $185 for a very dark brown! I was so embarrassed with the color and felt let down. Because the hair was already so uneven, she could only trim the bottom. Had I not asked to have my hair blown dry and styled, she would of sent me out the door with wet hair. The next morning I wanted the cry. I went to Sally Beauty on First and Oracle to see what I could buy to fix my hair. One of the associates advised me to call Gadabout, since they were the ones that dyed the hair, SURELY they would step up and fix it. I called, and because the original stylist was not available, I was recommended to another stylist, who was aware of my complaint. Bottom line, without paying another $125 to put highlights in my hair which would help mask the darkness, there was nothing she could do. All she could offer me was "sorry". I never heard from the original stylist nor from Gadabout. As of today my hair is too dark, considering it was a temporary dye. I am extremely disappointed with my color and with the fact that there has been no response from Gadabout Salon Spas on Oracle, Tucson. read more

Not great. I NEVER pay for a salon to do an updo so when I do, I want it to be a pleasant experience worth the price. This was definitely not that experience. I had some photos for demonstration of what I was hoping for. My stylist said I couldn't have them because my hair wasn't thick enough. I understood that, however, rather than offering alternatives or trying to help, she just stayed quiet and kept telling me that my suggestions wouldn't work or wouldn't look good. That is NOT what anyone wants to hear when they are paying you to help them look good. The whole process seemed rushed as well. On a side note, the aesthetician that was doing my friend's Makeup was AMAZING!!!!! She was kind, talkative, patient, and even let me sit in her space while she did my friend's makeup. I had been going to the Salon at Ulta, but the stylist I had seen moved out of state. I really needed a quarantine cut, so I called up Gadabout. My mom sees Peter, but he had no openings that worked for me, so I saw Nikki. She did a great job on my cut and was pleasant. I walked out with a bottle of Dallas thickening spray too, and my blowouts at home are looking great. Of course, not as great as when the stylists here do it! They've done a good job implementing procedures to keep guests safe from COVID. Everyone is required to wear a mask, including guests, and you check in outside and are brought in one at a time. I felt very safe here and would return again for service. Kinda miss the infused water they always had pre-corona though. :( read more

I will say the stylist did an awesome job. Did just what I wanted. I am infuriated that partial foils, gloss (toner) and trim (which I did not have stylist trim my bangs) with blow dry was $258. The toner should come with foils. I was not told the toner was an extra $45, which I needed to achieve what I wanted and I showed stylist a picture of what I wanted, so she should have known. This place is way over priced. I will say, they didn't do anything more than other salons. The only reason I went there was i was given a gift card. I cannot afford to go back. Just recently was at Gadabout for nail service and I noticed a little sign that said you, the customer, can talk about many things while there but not politics. I thought to myself "What does that mean?" If you do you're kicked out, throttled or what? This is rich since I quit going to the aesthetician I was seeing because the last time I was there she went on about abortion and gay rights. I was quite uncomfortable. I had not brought up any of these topics. She did. She'd done this a few times before and I guess since I never directly said anything about it would just change the topic instead, she felt comfortable doing that. So here is Gadabout telling their customers better not talk about politics or else. It could just be handled on an individual basis instead of it being an edict. And my individual way of handling it was to not subject myself to the aesthetician's unsolicited viewpoints anymore. There are other places to go for skincare that keep it professional. read more

When this Gadabout employee got back on the phone she believed she was talking to someone from scheduling but she was actually speaking to me the customer.... She started talking smack about me the customer about what the hairstylist said... I said excuse me? And she continued, eventually she asked me what my name was and I said my name and I told her I AM the customer... she was in shock and I ended the call. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! I've been going to Gadabout Salons for over 15 years and love them. I go the Oracle location now to see Tina for eyebrow waxes. She's great. Unfortunately, either the wax or the lotion they put on afterwards now makes me break out (my skin has gotten more sensitive over the years) so Tina tweezes for me instead. Everyone was very conscious of new health regulations and required masks to be warn. Elliana FAR exceeded my expectations today. She really listened to my hair goals and delivered an amazing cut and color. Her head massage was incredible. The salon also offers a full day spa and sells my absolute favorite product, kerastase!! I'm a new client at this Salon I looked at reviews and their website to go through each hair styles and chose one. After reviewing I decided to book an appointment with Arielle who was listed as a "Master Stylist". I trusted Arielle with my hair being she was listed as a "Master Stylist", but I was extremely disappointed with how my hair came out. I showed her a picture of the hair I wanted and it was nothing compared to what I asked for. My highlights needed to be pushed up to my roots because it started like a inch from my roots. The color of the highlights was a yellowish gold and it was horribly done. And there was different colors in my highlights there was like extremely bleached hair and then the rusty yellowish gold. It basically looked like she didn't even tone my hair to the brown I requested. So I am truly disappointed and appalled with the quality of service I received from Arielle especially because I was charged $245. I'll even provide pictures. read more

They were able to take last minute, they had two different times available for me today either early in the morning or afternoon which was also very convenient. This review is long over due. I've been to going to this Gadabout location since moving to Tucson in 2020. I looked for a stylist that does men's hair. Even though I've not much to cut, I just prefer a salon over a barber shop. I got an appointment set up with Lex. First time i went in for a hair cut, she asked what I wanted, got to know about me, and turns out we have stuff in common. I always get a wash before the cut, when asking about product, she recommends any needed without trying to sell sell sell! The salon is always nice and clean, and all the staff are friendly from the time you walk in, to when you leave. I'm grateful for her to be my stylist in Tucson.
