Integrity, YES. Hair Stylists that can make you look great, NOT REALLY. The integrity comes from the manager who was gracious enough to see me through the service I requested (that alone deserves 3 stars). But sadly that one service required five visits, three hairstylists and about $300. It's true...and after that I STILL had to go home and watch copious videos on how to get my roots blonde-buy the products-pray I would do it OK-and apply bleach to my own hair. Don't worry-it all worked out (another reason I give it 3 stars...I look about 85% of myself). It's quite a story-where to begin. Well, after newly moving here...I scouted out Gadabout and chose one of their stylists. This was a mistake I had swore I would never make: you always want to get a referral from someone's hair you like. But here's where I thought I was being smart and making up for that faux pas...I went in for a consult (Visit #1) and Hair Stylist #1 said "it was so easy" and "absolutely no problem"-despite me having damaged hair. It sounded like she could do it in her sleep. Walked out with a subtler variation of Cruella DeVille hair instead of being a golden blond with caramel highlights (Visit #2). Sadly, now we had to get out nearly black highlights (strange since I showed her a picture of me as a platinum blonde-for about the LAST 8 YEARS-and told her this was what I was asking her to create). I cannot even imagine how caramel highlights became black highlights so of course I requested my money back. The manager asked me to see their color expert, Hairstylist #2, a very kind and gracious woman (Visit #3). Sadly, Hairstylist #2 was booked solid and they booked me with Hairstylist #3 for later that day. Visit #4, with Hairstylist #3 almost got confrontational when she was berating me hair, asking me to sign waivers and saying she could do it but "it would burn off all my hair". She was very tall, and very commanding...I was scared, jumped out of her chair and ran for my life. LOL-not really-but burnt hair wasn't the look I was going for. That scary and bizarre interaction made it clear I needed to wait out the 2 weeks to see Hairstylist #2...that day came and PHEW she got out most of the black highlights but strangely left all my roots dark brown..which is not a good look for me. I know all of you ladies rocking the shadow root look great-I agree-but I look like...80's trailer trash. Really bad. Hairstylist #2 who converted me from Cruella DeVille to Trailer Trash told me as nice as she could that highlighting at Gadabout doesn't go to the root. And she like most of Gadabout, was very kind. And that's the confusion of this place. Here's the thing. If you look at the hairstylists there...they have damn nice hair. If you sit and watch the ladies leaving with their hair done, it's not all that exciting. There not AT ALL living their best hair lives. Hairstylist #2 described the clientele as "conservative" and I think that's what's going wrong here. They create an average look for their clients and I wanted fabulous. They are not listening and may be going through the motions and hoping, just hoping...it's good enough for you. Of course this is all speculation, but it's all I can come up with for my wacky 5 visits and 2 alter-egos. read more

They walked me out of salon i didn't realized I didn't pay took three days to get Thur to pay. Should have heeded the warning. Went back for perm had another perm consult wanted to do a 45$ treatment my hair is extremely health in never dye it. whatever he went to roll it couldnt find roller paper sat in chair util they went to another salon to get some. It was freezing in there during the rinse I got soaked . he styled my hair like I had a bowl on my head think sat night skit about bad moms. Well $150 I went to my car and cried a bit it will be OK in a few days when I can wash it and style it . never going back.. read more

I have been getting my hair cut at Gadabout for the last fifteen years because they consistently deliver. They offer an upscale, relaxing experience you don't get at other salons. Little details like fruit infused water, a comfy waiting area, and soothing videos when you're getting your hair washed make things extra lovely. The service is great - probably thirteen years ago I didn't like my cut as it was too blunt and they happily "fixed" it at no charge. For the last few years I've been seeing Ria. She's so friendly (greets me with a hug - I ADORE her!), professional, and really listens to what I want. Her cuts are awesome. Oh Claudia.... I read the reviews of your cuts with your magic wand. I wanted to believe so I called and made an appointment for a calligraphy cut. As you were cutting my hair I was freaking out. It felt like so much hair was falling to the ground. I have curly hair that wasn't as curly after having my son. I wanted the curl back. I needed a change. You diffused my hair and it looked so short. I thought I had made a mistake. However no mistake was made. After I styled it how I do my hair, it's amazing. It's so amazing! Paid for a haircut and deep conditioning treatment which I may as well have done myself. It was so uneven. It looked beyond awful when I got home. This was probably one of the most traumatic hair salon experiences I've ever had. The stylist argued with me on what I wanted done with my hair. My tech was kind of friendly, but had an air that didn't make me feel welcome--or maybe it was something pretentious coming from the overall atmosphere? I am new to the area and I was looking for a spa for mani/pedi. Someone referred Gadabout Salon Spas to me and said I would love it. The young man that did my pedicure was very friendly and accommodating, I cannot blame him for my reasons not to return. I don't know about you, but when I go for a pedicure I want to be pampered, it is a zen experience for me. I don't like loud, noisy spas or I can't relax. The operator doing a pedi next to the young man, yapped the entire time and I mean she was so loud and never once considered that someone was there to relax. There was also the loud disturbances from the salon on the other side of the curtain. They have the right idea with the fountain in front of the pedi area, but you don't even get to experience it. I have been coming to Gadabout for at least 18 years. I swear by Gina Yrigolla as a master stylist. She is amazing! I have had issues with my health which affected my hair and Gina seriously helped me keep my hair healthy, Gina is honest and puts her heart and soul into her profession. Her color is amazing, people who wash my color out can tell when Gina has done my 3-D highlights because of the amount of foils she uses. The prices at Gadabout are pricy but, worth every penny of it by the time I walk out that door. read more

I lucked out and was able to get an appointment for a facial about an hour after I called to see if there was an opening (there had been a cancellation). I have been to a few other Gadabouts in town, but this is the only one I've been to that has a special changing room and lockers to store your personal items. After you change you go into a quiet room to wait for your aesthetician. My only complaint is that this room was too dark to read the magazines they left for reading, so I was bored. My aesthetician Katie came for me shortly and took me to her retreat for my facial. She did a great job and made me feel at ease right away. The hand and foot and shoulder massage are a nice addition. i have had some or all at other salons, but here you get all 3 in addition to your face treatment. Katie did a great job of personalizing the products she used, and explaining them without putting on a strong product push. I will certainly go back for another skin care treatment. read more

Spoke with Leslie who answered the phone at the main number listed. I wanted to schedule a wash/blow dry and then said that I'd get a treatment. She informed me there were two separate charges $45.00 treatment and then for the wash and blow dry it would be another 45.00 to equal $90.00. I clarified with her in great detail that I have received treatments in the past and the wash and blow dry were included to equal $45.00 for all and then I tipped 20%. She said others were charging incorrectly in the past (years??) and the charges are separate and would be that high or higher depending on what level a stylist is at. Really?? Just a short time after I posted the review below I received a call from the Manager-Molly. She said she had reviewed my concerns and addressed several of them with her staff. She then asked if there was anything they could do to rectify my experience. She asked if I was willing to give them another try?!?! Reluctantly I agreed to give them another try. I had a short time frame to schedule (I was heading out of town). She was able to accommodate my schedule and booked a facial. This time around it was exactly what I would expect from a top rate spa. I was greeted at the door. The receptionist walked me back to the spa area and stayed with me until a room became available. The waiting area in the spa was tidy and relaxing. Tina was the technician. She was prompt, personable and did a beautiful facial. I will definitely ask for her again. Sometime's business have an off day...my first experience was the perfect storm. By reaching out to me so quickly and working hard to meet my expectations they have showed me they do value my business. I will go back! read more

Just had my haircut for the first time at the Gadabout Salon on Kolb at Sunrise. Horrible experience. When I tried to call the salon I was always put on hold, but they had three receptionist when I arrived at the salon. Why doesn't anyone answer the phone? My stylist, Michael Nunez, seemed rushed, agitated, and eager to finish his day. I was his last appointment, so he hurried through the whole appointment. He sprayed water on me while washing my hair. The haircut I got was not at all what I wanted or described. He seemed to give me the haircut he wanted me to have. I went in with chin length curly hair and came out with a very short straight haircut. It will take me six months to grow it back out to the length and style I want. I do not recommend Michael or Gadabout. read more

I scheduled an appointment for Locks of Love, my little sister likes to grow her hair and donate and they called back to reschedule the appointment. Whoever rescheduled the appointment didn't update for Locks of Love. Instead they scheduled a regularly appointment. After the hair was cut they instead I didn't schedule a Lock of Love appointment and charged $50 for a simple hair cut, and I guess my sisters long hair was thrown away. My sister wanted to donate her hair, I could have gone somewhere and pay less if the hair was going to be thrown away. read more

The salon works on a pay scale so you can request someone with a lower or higher price range, depending on your budget. I went for a lower priced haircut and received a well trained and friendly stylist. I loved all of my haircuts from here, although I wish the location was closer to our home. My mother-in-law recommended this salon when we moved to Tucson and goes here every 4 weeks for her haircut and style. I tried a couple places closer to our house but immediately wished I had gone here instead. I will be making the drive again soon for a fresh cut! read more

I've been to two different stylists at this salon and had my hair done 3 times total, so this review isn't based on just one bad experience. My first experience with Desiree was actually good which is why I saw her again a second time. For some reason, the second time she didn't speak to me AT ALL unless it was about my hair, which is pretty uncomfortable for the amount of time it takes to get your hair colored and cut. I LOVED the cut and color, but the experience was so uncomfortable I decided to try a different stylist. For my next visit, I scheduled an appointment with Danielle. This experience was even worse! Not only did she not make conversation with me but she straight up was combative about what I wanted to do with my hair. Getting my hair washed at a salon is usually relaxing and includes a soothing head massage. Well, with my eyes closed I really could not tell if I was at a salon or at home with my toddler trying to rip my hair out of my head. The haircut and color I ended up getting looks nothing like the photos I showed her and it is lopsided! I really wanted to love this place, but i'm not sure if i'll be returning. read more

I was very underwhelmed with this salon. I went in for my birthday to get a mani/pedi. Now, whenever I go into a salon for my nails I ask for a nail design (birthday, halloween, Xmas, etc.) & they always know what to do. The (unfriendly) nail tech I got here told me she didn't know how to do nail designs... for the prices they charge here I wasn't expecting this at all. I settled for no nail design & asked that she keep my nails squared like I had them... she rounded all of them. Gadabout Salon spas is amazing! I have been going to Gadabout since 2000. It is the best salon! I went to someone else and never went back. Gina Y at the oracle office is such a perfectionist because if she doesn't like your hair how it ended up she will redo it. I have only had to have it redone in that time once and it wasn't her fault. She will also let you know in advance if something isn't going to look good on you just like a friend would. I have changed my hair color a few times and always end up going back to blond highlights. She does them so well! They look so natural! I get complements on my hair everywhere! She does such a great job. She recommends products that don't break the bank unless you want them to. If your ever in the area definitely check out Gadabout on oracle and ask for Gina Y. Jeepers...I was referred to this salon by colleagues (many colleagues) and, frankly, was disappointed. I don't have an issue paying 'spa' prices to have my hair cut and colored--I sort of expect a high cost to go with a high-end place. I also expect high-level service and high-quality product. The service was mediocre and the front end/scheduling folks had all the attitude typically associated with hoity-toity but none of the actual customer service skills that come with it. It's almost like they've watched movies of what 'fancy' places are like and adapted from there...I'd call it a Valley-girl condescension approach (ditzy and snotty at the same time). The salon itself is okay but not great. I'll caveat that I loved my last salon so could likely be biased. Gadabout sort of flits on the line of 'run-of-the-mill salon' and high-end rather than just choosing one or the other. I wasn't happy with my color and I will say the managers did a good job of trying to get me rescheduled for a color-fix. I've got a challenging schedule to coordinate with, but they were consistently patient and got me in with a different stylist at the Speedway location. I ended up opting for a haircut at the 'fix-it' appointment and was left with color I still didn't like and a haircut I wasn't happy with. All in all it was just over 250 for a haircut I hated, color that was terrible and then bearable, and a scheduling experience that was belittling. I'm still looking for my salon. read more

I will not go to this salon again. I got the worst cut and color i have ever had. The first woman who did my hair was very unprofessional and messed up my hair. I feel like she didn't know the technique and instead of admitting that she just went with it and it shows. I went in a second time to have them adjust it and I was obviously the girls last appointment because she refused to fix my hair the way I wanted apparently they only informed her the color was off and not the cut as well and when I asked her about the choppiness of my hair she got annoyed and said well they didn't say anything about that. She was obviously in a hurry because when I left she left the salon also and she seemed pretty eager to get home the way she as driving. read more
