I did an intensive research on Yelp looking for a reliable hair salon for my son who will be living in Tucson for the next few years. Appointments should be made weeks in advance (via phone or online) as they are very busy and all the hairstylists seem to be in high demand. Prices are on the pricier side but I am okay with that because they always do a stellar job giving my son the cut he wants. He has visited Mabel Salon on numerous occasions since 2024. On this latest appointment, my son who hates taking selfies actually sent me one. Lol. The haircut reminded me of a K-Pop Idol. I absolutely loved it. Incredibly friendly staff. I see LJ here and she's been great from the go! Equal parts friendly, competent, and pays attention to detail. I always leave her chair feeling great about my hair! My hair is much healthier now and she doesn't try to oversell anything you don't actually need. She's trustworthy and that means everything to me! The salon is located in and near the Menlo and Mercado Districts. It's bungalow style and chill vibe is so welcoming. Pricing is nothing outrageous but what you'd expect to pay for a top salon. I'm so glad I found this place. Been coming here for over a year and look forward to my next appointment. P.S. I haven't been in Tucson long and ALWAYS got my hair done by my friend up in northern Nevada.. But from many suggestions at work, i tried Mabel! I did a random stylist and got Zoe, and she is amazing. I haven't gotten my hair done in 2 years, and naturally i'm a dirty blonde/blonde/brunette, so it was a mess. I came in, we talked about what I wanted and she was able to do a copper/strawberry blonde for me and it was amazing! They offered me water, the music wasn't too loud, it was a beautiful environment that I enjoyed. The price was exactly what I expected especially for doing an entire full color with highlights and the result exceeded my expectations! As a visitor in town, I went cold turkey into Mabel Salon for a hair cut with Sarah. From the minute I walked in the door I felt like I'd chosen wisely. Sarah took the time to look at some photos of my hair both naturally curly and blown out straight. I wanted a "refresh" with some layers cut in to give my hair some needed texture and bounce. Sarah took the time to listen and make suggestions. I walked out more than thrilled!! It is rare that I ever come out of a salon and don't have to go home and "redo" my hair the way I like it. This is my 3rd visit to this Salon. I have gotten great haircuts every time. I trust the salon...the owner, whom I haven't met must have just the right skills to get all these great ladies. This time was the jackpot! AUDREY!!!! Oh my! She just moved here from a thriving salon with a steady clientele booked months in advance. I lucked out, as she had just had a cancellation. I swear, she transformed my hair from wild greying cavewoman to sleek, styled, perfectly layered hair. I was nervous to try a new stylist and LJ did an incredible job. I have been looking for a new stylist bc mine moved out of town. At other places my last couple haircuts haven't been what I hoped and I'd been getting bummed out. I thought it was going to take me many months to get back to a haircut I really liked at a length I wanted. But LJ's vibe was so thorough, calm, just a great listener, and overall incredibly skilled. I booked here b/c of the outstanding 5 star reviews and found one of their stylist's work that I liked. Unfortunately, the stylist no longer worked there by time my appointment day came, but they were able to get me booked with the co-owner, Kaela. Kaela was nice enough to send me pictures of her work and details of her experience before my appointment so I felt comfortable seeing her. This salon is beautiful. It's set up in an old historic home that's been beautifully remodeled and it's modern design set up is so nice. I was greeted right away and offered water, tea and coffee. Kaela had another stylist look over my hair as well which was nice to have 2 experts look it over before beginning. The shampoo and gloss experience Kaela gave me was amazing and so relaxing. I would go back for a shampoo alone, that's how great it felt. I was treated very nicely by everyone and had a great experience. I didn't want anything drastic, just a cut and a gloss to refresh my hair and I was very happy with the results. Kaela listened to what I wanted and didn't want and I was very happy with my results.
