I attached the photos I was sending to my mom telling her how bad it was and that my head was burning. I was kind to the hair stylist because I'm not one to embarrass people. I also showed my family my hair and they laughed and said there's no world they would let her touch their hair. Anything else you'd like to add owner? Horrible. Just horrible!! Went to a different location. Botched my hair. Bad. They apologized. They refunded and sent me to this location to fix it. Promised it would be fixed. The woman could not get in the same page as me as to what I wanted. The girl next to her knew exactly what I wanted. I had the photo. I said just copy the photo. An hour later (not counting that they scheduled me an hour later than she said) she started. My forehead was on fire. I said NO to a treatment 4 times. 4! They did the treatment. My head was burned and had scabs. The bangs were blonde to my scalp I looked bald. As you can see my hair doesn't look like the photo AT ALLLL!!! First time it came out copper. Second time it came out auburn. It's just bad. Then they charged me for the treatment I said NO to!!! I spent $350 for what's in the photo. I'm so embarrassed. So many people are commenting asking what happened to my hair. I will never recommend them. read more

Gadabout is the most toxic disgusting, terrible work environment in all of Tucson. They treat their employees like literal trash, and they don't care. Highly suggest you stop supporting this business if you live in Tucson. Everyone who works there is miserable. Management are bullies, and FRANK IS THE MEANEST MOST DISGUSTINGLY RUDE MEAN SPIRITED person ever. The stylist jule ruined my hair on the cut. She doesn't seem to understand the basic principles on how to cut hair!

I am so thrilled to finally be a regular at this salon so close to my place. Having Bri as my nail technician has been so wonderful because she is so focused on nail, hand and foot health. The Summer-Ready and Winter Pedicures have been transformative as I can see all the callouses flying off my feet! I actually lose weight on those pedicures! I don't even live in Tucson anymore but every time I go back I get a haircut from David. He actually knows how to work with hair, instead of giving you the usual cookie-cutter haircut where you're supposed to just style out all of your hair's natural body and shape. As someone who refuses to use a round brush, curling iron, or straightener on my wavy hair, he has made my life so much easier! The salon itself is lovely too. I have never had anything other than a pleasant experience there. I'm currently overdue for a haircut and don't have a trip to Tucson on the books, and searching for a new stylist feels like a real bummer. I began coming to Gadabout Salon in the beginning of January 2021. I had recently moved to Tucson from Los Angeles in May of 2020. Though Tucson is now home I was still traveling to LA for my monthly haircut. Since finding "David" at Gadabout Hair Salon on Sunrise & Kolb, I have not been back to LA for a haircut. Today was the sixth haircut by David. When I came in, the salon was very clean, inviting and everyone was wearing Covid-19 masks. The receptionist are extremely helpful and pleasant. Sara immediately asked if I would like a coffee or water as she greeted me. When I sat in David's chair, David was comfortable enough with me that he looked at my hair and said are we doing the same? By this sixth visit David knew exactly what I like and don't like with a haircut and knows my style. David cuts hair like a twenty year veteran with such precision. He works his scissors like Michaelangelo working his paint brush. David is always professional, pleasant, great personality, but more importantly he listens to what you want in a haircut and perfects it. He is very proud of the finished product which is a lively and outstanding haircut. Had a very comfortable experience here. Called to make reservation, lady took down all that was needed and got me an early Booking. Dawn did an awesome job at listening to what my needs were and made really good conversation. You pay more for such a great experience compared to other chains in the industry. Fair warning, pricing: Don't really know how to manage the stars here and this is why. Went to an appointment for color with Drea, first visit. Simple bleach blond. I leave some natural color underneath in the back, so she did have to cover up the underparts(took not even 10 minutes) no foils , straight bleach on top, covered and I sat for 30 minutes, normal. Someone else washed, then Drea did the toner. It came out great! I thanked her and went to pay at the counter. Then there was THIS: the girl at the counter said, That'll be $290.00. TWO HUNDRED AND NINETY DOLLARS. The whole appointment was 2.5 hours. My mouth fell, but I handed her my card, and asked...is this NORMAL? The girl had no clue, and mumbled something about. "Blond on blond", whatever that means, it's bleach!!! I still left a tip, much less than I would've normally, as I was happy with it. I've never ever paid even close to this, and I've asked all my friends, AND other stylists, and each one was like, THAT is just wrong. I wanted to share my great experience with the stylist Angel at this Gadabout location. She was extremely professional and really took her time and care with my hair. I asked her to help me go darker, more towards my natural brunette coloring. However, when it was done I felt overwhelmed by how dark my hair was. It was beautifully colored though and very healthy and shiny. I tried to get used to it but after just over a day of not feeling right about it I reached out to see if there was anything to be done to help lighten it a little bit. After going over my options with Angel on the phone she fit me in that day. Now with the highlights she put in I felt so much better about the end result and love my hair! The manager and the staff members I interacted with on my return visit were all very warm and I was so glad I reached out to see if there was a solution. read more

Sunrise/kolb location please avoid Meg Al (Megan Allison) she was rude and butchered my hair. She didn't listen to anything that I wanted. I went in for a cut and three dimensional color and I got a solid color and a hair cut 6" shorter than I asked for. I had asked for it to be at the middle of my back with long layers and it turned out just barely below my shoulders with no layers. It's awful. I've never had such a bad experience. The salon itself is run down and dirty. Dust everywhere and the ceiling is falling apart. I would avoid this location all together. read more

I am only writing this review because the receptionist at this location forgot about me, and failed to tell anyone I was there. I still will go back to the Salon because I love my stylist there. So yesterday I had a 6pm appointment and the receptionist asks me who I was there to see, and I told her, "OK have a seat and I'll tell her your here." I waited, and waited and waited, after about 30 minutes I see my stylist come out and ask if I came. At the end when it came time to pay for appointment the same receptionist rings me up and apologizes for the mishap, blaming it on their computer being frozen even though I had seen here click my name on the computer and she was using it the whole time I was sitting there. So she rings me up and I ask her to add $10 dollars onto my bill, and they are suppose to give me the cash so I can put it in an envelope for the stylist, but she didn't do that, so I asked her if she was going to give her my tip, "Oh I thought I already gave it to you." My hair turned out great, but spent more than quoted. I called and discussed what I wanted done and was told a certain price which was the highest price out of everyone. I sit in the chair and the hairdresser tells me that I was quoted wrong and added another $35-45. I had to accept the price or she would t do my hair the way that I wanted. I was in the chair with people all around me and planned on having my hair done and would have been embarrassing to leave, so I stayed. Beware if you are new to this place. The 5 stars are for Coco and Deirdre. I have known Deirdre for about 20 years and I consider her to be the best in the business. I have seen others at Gadabout and while they are a solid 4+ stars (hello Kelly @ Grant), there is no one that compares to Deirdre. Now for the amazing Coco. I had been seeing another hairdresser at this location and when it became more and more of a problem to get in and see my former hairdresser, Deirdre suggested Coco. I was planning on leaving Gadabout completely for my hair services but I decided to give Coco a chance. I have never regretted this decision. She is wonderful and Coco is the only hairdresser I have had whose styling skills are such that I can wait a couple of days after I have had my hair done, to wash it again. When I first saw Coco she asked how I felt about changing my hair color and since it is only hair color, I agreed with her plan. No regrets here. My most recent service was a Keratin treatment. And let me tell you that My hair feels like spun gold. Soft and not frizzy and it takes so much less time to dry my hair. I had an express keratin service before but this time it was the full keratin treatment. Wow what a difference. Now for the less than perfect review. There are several people who work at Sunrise and Kolb who like to stir the pot and create drama. When i had to change hairdressers (now mind you my entire family still sees my previous hairdresser), you would have thought that EVERYONE and their brother had to weigh in on this decision. No fewer than 5 people had to make comments for all to hear about this decision. This was unacceptable especially with the amount of time my family spends there. Fortunately the drama makers had enough good sense not to say anything to my daughter about this. And there are a couple of people who work there and they think that their (blank) does not stink. Unfortunately they are wrong, but these are people who have either been with Gadabout for a very long time or are related to upper management at Gadabout. I would love to be able to bring the names of these people to the powers that be, but it wouldn't do any good. Their egos are so OVERINFLATED that they cannot see the ground from their lofty pedestals. I would love to be the person to poke holes in their balloons. read more

I'll start this by saying I don't leave negative reviews on Yelp however if I can help someone else avoid my experience with a particular hairstylist who had the audacity to cancel my long in advance Appt with less than 24hrs notice I will help as many people as possible...I'm new to Tucson and was referred to Julie Naurus by an acquaintance. My attempts to make an appointment started with a 4wk wait time which I was unable to commit due to my class schedule. I finally was able to make an appointment now 6wks later and was extremely disappointed when I received a 'text' from Julie less than 24hrs from our scheduled appointment to let me know she would not be able to do my hair tomorrow and 'hopefully we could reschedule in the future?!' Ummm, this is absolutely unacceptable. I'm starting a new job in less than 72hrs! I'm now in a position to find another hairdresser who can "hopefully" fit me into a schedule with very little notice. To add insult to injury I was told by a friend that the Gadabout Salons are owned by the same owners and I should be able to contact them with the explanation of my experience to get an emergency appointment scheduled....are you telling me the hairdresser 'Julie' who originally scheduled me couldn't offer that suggestion?? Are you kidding me?! Wow! I'm beyond disappointed and cannot believe how unprofessional this experience with this individual has literally left me in absolute disbelief. I'm very thankful for the Gadabout's professionalism in understanding my experience of frustration and getting me in last minute! I'm extremely 'hopeful' that I will have a good experience with the hairstylist who was able to take care of me on such short last minute notice. This location is awful! Let me start by saying I have been a long-time customer of Gadabout but I refuse to go back to this location (Sunrise/Kolb). Out of the multiple times I have visited this location I cannot think of one occasion where I have been greeted in a polite way. It's seems to be that many of the girls that work there are quite rude. I also have on multiple occasions gotten the feeling that they are stuck up and lack basic customer service skills. I have even met the manager who was very rude to me and did nothing to rectify a poor situation. I can in no way recommend this location. With that being said I highly recommend the River and Campbell location where everyone greets you with a smile and is very kind. Specifically this is not a poor review against Gadabout as a company just this specific location (Sunrise/Kolb). read more

She is patient and listens and is honestly the only hair stylist I have ever had that has actually talked me into not "chopping" it off and has me giving it more time to gain actual length and thickness. I went in with black hair, wanting brown hair. Some of my actual roots were brown already and the ends were black. The girl put bleach on the ends and it was left on too long. Then put really dark brown over top of it and I asked for a shade lighter because my hair is very absorbing. Half of my hair is missing in the back and guess what? My hair is black at the roots and barely brown every where else. I almost bursted into tears in that stupid salon. I will never go back and will always warn people before they go there. I would give this establishment zero stars if i could. I went in to get my hair dyed and it was a disaster. I wanted a midnight blue in my hair and ended up with a nightmare. After 4 and a half hours of 7 different blue chunky terrible streaks that eventually turned purple and blue I had her dye my hair all black. This lady ruined my hair. After all of the dye, bleach, and wash outs my hair is now sensitive and feels like straw. I will never go back! read more

First off I want to say that everyone I met at Gadabout was lovely and I hate having to write a negative review. I will say that I give the salon 5 stars for their attention to COVID-19 guidelines and safety. Sadly this was my first time at the salon and probably my last. I was scheduled for a Balayage which I have only had done once before as I am fairly new to coloring my fair. However my stylist changed over to foils and made no comment to me on the reason and the result was not at all what I wanted. I understand that I should have questioned the foils but since I am new to the process I didn't think to. I had showed my stylist a picture of myself from the last time my hair was colored and asked for the exact same thing. The results were not the same!!!!! I wanted to be a blonde 22 year old and instead I feel like a women trying to hide grey hairs with a chunky highlight. All of my roots are showing and it's not at all as light as I had asked for. In addition her layering on the side was not good and so when you pull my hair back into a ponytail all you see is brown hair. Moral of the story is a over priced highlight job that I deeply regret getting and one that is too expensive for me to pay to have it fixed! read more
