I had a very disappointing experience with this office. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Nossa and was charged $100 to reserve it, with the understanding that the fee would be refunded if I canceled at least 48 hours in advance. I canceled on time, but the refund was not processed until I called to request it. When I later called back because the last four digits of the card they claimed to refund did not match my card, the staff member was extremely rude. She spoke over me, raised her voice, refused to recheck the information, and told me to call my bank. At one point, she even laughed at me on the phone. Mistakes can happen, but the way this was handled was unprofessional and disrespectful. He shaved down perfect teeth that I never asked him to touch on his own volition and left my front teeth transparent after bonding them. When I asked him about it he said "no one can notice". I can assure you that I was in fact a patient for 9+ years and I have no intentions of calling them. Dr. Nossa had many chances to explain while I was still a patient, and he failed every single time to do so (one such scenario is mentioned below). This man ruined my teeth. I started going to him when I was 15 and stopped around 24 when he ruined my teeth. He suggested dental bonding for my two front teeth after seeing that one of them was turning translucent at the very edge from grinding. My front teeth were turning inward as well, which he said he could "fix." During the dental bonding, he shaved down my left K9 (which I never consented to, and I loved my K9's) but left my right K9 untouched and shaved down my left incisor (which I never consented to). In addition, after he finished, my two front teeth were now more translucent, the one thing I wanted fixed he now made much worse. I was shocked that this is what he kept recommending to me over the years. I grind my teeth at night (for which he gave me a night guard), and it blows my mind that he recommended dental bonding, knowing I grind my teeth at night because dentally bonded teeth are more susceptible to breaking, AND HE STILL KEPT RECOMMENDING IT. After I saw that he made my teeth worse, I confronted him and told him that it is now more translucent than it was before, and he said nobody will notice. I responded that it is more translucent than it was before, so why would you recommend this if it wasn't that noticeable before? He stood there in utter silence, not responding, and all he could say was that I can redo it, to which I responded, you said you would fix it and not take off a lot of enamel, and now you want to redo it and take off even more enamel. Furthermore, I had nightmares about this dental bonding procedure after because it looked so horrible, and it felt like there was a Band-Aid constantly stuck to the back of my front two teeth. My two front teeth have never felt normal since. To add insult to injury, they keep claiming they have no full-mouth X-rays (which I know they took) in the 9+ years I have been going to them, so I can never restore my teeth to what they actually looked like before he ruined them and you can't repair k9's without them chipping easily or having a cap or some other costly procedure. To put the cherry on top, before he dentally bonded my teeth and "straightened" them, I asked about Invisalign, and he said no, I would need braces for 2 years because it would mess up my bite. WELL, GUESS WHAT? I WENT TO A NEW DENTIST, GOT INVISALIGN, AND MY BITE IS NOT AFFECTED WHATSOEVER, AND I ONLY HAD TO HAVE INVISALIGN FOR 4 MONTHS. He tried to tell my sister when she came into town that he could "fix" her jaw (there is nothing wrong with it). After all this, I would not and do not trust this guy, which is why I left for a new dentist. He treated my mom for an infection that just kept getting worse and rather lose money and send her to a specialist he decided to treat it with antibiotics leading to the removal of those infected teeth. Last but not least -- my nightguard broke before he ever mentioned dental bonding, which caused my teeth to grow out of place (his words), and I could only close one side of my mouth, and he never picked up on it the numerous times I went to him. I ACTUALLY HAD TO TELL HIM MY MOUTH WOULDN'T TOUCH ON BOTH SIDES WHEN I CLOSED IT. And to fix this he had to further shave down my teeth. After all this, I would not and do not trust this guy, which is why I left for a new dentist. My teeth were perfect going in there and came out looking like Frankenstein and I would have sued if I was able to. My entire family used to go to this guy and now they do not. That should say something LOL. If you have to, I would only use him for dental cleanings anything else and he will probably ruin your teeth. Dr. Nossa is the best dentist around! He and his team are so thorough and and just plain nice to be around. I never like going to the dentist, but Dr. Nossa and his team have made my experiences quite pleasant. And I never feel like I'm being overcharged. I recently switched from another dentist in town and went to see Dr. Nossa for my first overall dental evaluation. I was very impressed at the time that was spent by Dr. Nossa in reviewing my x-rays and inspecting my entire mouth. I have never had such an in-depth evaluation. I went back a few days later and the hygienist was extremely knowledgeable and spent an hour cleaning my teeth. She discussed every minor issue at length and taught me how to avoid brushing too hard and proper flossing technique. I recently moved back to Gainesville and have different dental insurance so I had to find a new dentist than the one I had here previously. I chose Dr. Nossa because of the positive reviews I read about him and the practice. he was on the "Top 10 Dentists in Gainesville" list. The entire experience was WONDERFUL! I called to make the appointment and Eileen, the front office lady, was so nice on the phone. About a week before the appointment, she called me again saying they had an opening for a cleaning the following day and wanted to see if I was able to make that appointment as well. I really appreciated that she thought about that for me so I didn't have to wait until early next year. Dr. Nossa was so nice! The time he took for the initial evaluation was above and beyond. He provided great quality of care which is something I don't see in the medical field a lot anymore. He was very great about explaining everything he was checking for. Very very in depth. Claire was my hygienist and she was also great! The cleaning was very thorough and she was super friendly. Everyone introduced themselves and shook my hand. Loved the quality of care. I've already recommended this practice to a few friends and coworkers and will continue to do so! read more
