Two weeks after I'd booked an amazing day hike adventure in a foreign country, I injured my foot. I had only a two and a half month window for rehab before the hike took place. Brent helped ease my foot back into full function and then created a training program to build up foot strength and miles. In the end I was able to accomplish the 15 mile day hike without any issues. We call Brent the "teen whisperer" because of his way with our high school athlete: honest but kind, informative but not lecturing, personable but not intrusive. He took the time to really find the root of our son's stress fractures and fixed everything from the shoes he was wearing to the way he was running. Before I give my glowing, breathtaking, groundbreaking review of G4 Athlete, I want to briefly comment on Valerie's review: Why didn't you just call Brent? He's the nicest guy on the planet, and incredibly reasonable and understanding. You had a pre-op visit (which was never about recovery obviously), you didn't follow up with your insurance to make sure they were covered (which you seemed to know to do, but didn't), you didn't follow up with their very new (and also incredibly helpful and friendly staff), and apparently, YOU DIDN'T PAY YOUR BILL! Even after all of that, and the absurd review and rating, Brent very kindly zeroed out your account. OK, enough of that, on to the review... I've been seeing Brent for about 15 years, from before he opened his first G2 Sports Therapy Clinic. I was was referred to him by the PT I was seeing after knee surgery. This was a PT rated as Best of Seattle in Seattle Magazine by his peers. Really, the best PT in Seattle told me to see Brent, because Brent was the best sports PT in town. He's now even better. I'm a skier, trail runner, and generally very active guy, but last year things started not working so well. Walking a few blocks to the store hurt. Lifting my arm overhead hurt. I was terrified that my days of being active were over. Last year skiing was pretty rough, and I was getting depressed. I've seen a number of PTs over the years, some ok, some good, a few great. I'm also a bit of a fanatic on movement and body awareness. I know bad from ok from good from great from best ever. I went in to see Brent for a major overhaul in June, the first day he opened. I've been seeing him regularly, and am amazed at the difference. He took the approach of mobility...stability...skill. It took a while to unlock all of the stuck and frozen parts--and I had a minor injury partway through which meant a detour--but things are moving again. We're working on strength. In June I couldn't walk to the store. Now, I'm trail running (which for me means downhill plummets as fast as can go), am strong, and am feeling like this is going to be the best ski season I've had in years. And, we haven't really gotten to the skill part yet! Yesterday I saw Laura, who does massages in the clinic, for the first time. I regularly hear her patients rant and rave as they leave her room. When Brent told me that one of his NFL player patients (yes, it's pretty cool being treated with a couple of NFL players on the tables right next to you) said that of the 1000+ massages he's had in his life by the best in the business, Laura was the best of the best. I've had maybe 150 massages, some by very good therapists, but Laura is truly out of this world. And of course there's his other floor staff. Ackerly and Jarrad (who's only there when not busy getting his doctorate in PT) are to PT assistants what Brent is to PTs and Laura to massage therapists. I've been to numerous physical therapy offices in Washington and California as follow up to dual knee replacement, hip joint replacement, hernia operations, discektomy, tendonitis, and various injuries over the last 30 years. Many therapy offices connect you with one knowledgeable person for the first meeting, then pass you on to less experienced associates for most of your therapy. My wife and I have tried two other therapy offices on Mercer Island, and were so unimpressed with the staff that we cancelled our remaining appointments. Kelly at G4Athlete conducted a through analysis of my surrounding muscle strength, and range of motion, and we practiced several exercises that will effectively resolve my current issues. She also provided tweeks for my normal gym workouts to help improve my workouts. She followed up with videos of the recommended exercises, and will be directly involved in all my future appointments. Quick Review: Brent George and his staff ROCK and you will get the best of care if you go to G4 Athlete. Long Review: I was referred to Brent George by my regular sports doctor and chiropractor (who is one of the best in chiropractic and sports rehab, and works with 2 of Seattle's professional sports teams as their official chiropractor). He knew Brent through his work with one of these pro Seattle teams, so knowing that immediately gave me confidence. I had been treated for about a year, on and off, with my regular doc for a foot condition called Morton's Neuroma, an injury to the nerve between the toes, which causes thickening and pain. For me, it was causing tingling and discomfort on the nerve that travels between the third and fourth toes. I had tried all of the usual recommendations (shoes with wider foot beds, no high heels, Superfeet inserts in all of my shoes, and physical therapy). The condition would come and go, but at one point it seemed to worsen and become more consistent. So my sports doc referred me to Brent George, telling me he is a PT with a specialty in feet like he has never seen before, and that he has this amazing ability to watch you walk for a minute and asses your problem instantly. He raved about him and I figured it was worth a try. My sports doc was right. Brent did a number of tests on my foot, including watching me walk and checking my shoes and shoe inserts. He spent a lot of time talking with me about my history as well On the first visit, he was able to immediately determine the cause of the Morton's Neuroma and explain it to me in detail, using a foot skeleton and showing me how my natural build and body mechanics were at the root of the issue. Essentially, these were things I couldn't necessarily change, but he had a game plan to treat the neuroma knowing the causes. The treatment would probably entail some kind of custom orthotic, he said, and I immediately thought about cost and insurance and expressed my concerns. Sensitive to my concerns, Brent took a very conservative and incremental approach, by tweaking one of my existing Superfeet inserts on one side to take the consistent load off of the problem spot. I wore these for a week and went back to check in. I didn't once experience the tingling and numbness I had become accustomed to on that foot during that week, and was feeling very optimistic. After one more 2 week run to make sure that was going to work, I was set. Although he initially thought I might need a custom orthotic made, Brent was able to perform his magic on my regular Superfeet to address the issue! I then brought in a bunch of my Superfeet and boom, he tweaked them and I am on the road to happy feet for hopefully a long while. While in the office I saw other patients working with Brent and his staff for other PT needs, and what I saw was similar to my experience - a very professional, knowledgeable and competent staff who were friendly, caring and gave each patient their time and attention to take care of their needs. The best PT practice in the area! I started seeing Brent George about 5 years ago for a knee injury, and after several months of rehab, was back on the soccer field stronger than ever. Since then, I routinely see Brent and his crew for both minor and major injuries. They are incredibly smart, and their thorough and comprehensive care allows me to continue competing at a high level. I cannot say enough good things about my son's road to recovery at G4 Athlete, as he prepares to compete at the college level. We have been through 3 years of doctors and PTs with a recurring back injury, and Brent George was able to quickly identify the underlying biomechanical issues and develop a rehab plan that will prevent future injury. Why can't I give zero stars? Had a tendinitis issue that my primary referred to PT. Went for a month.... a month too long. Primary issues: 1. They don't tell you this, but you can do all of this on your own. Get a routine and work on yourself, you don't need them. In fact, they say you will not recover unless you do treatment at home. Office visits are not needed. 2. G4 did not timely notify me of per visit costs, even when I explicitly inquired of costs before treatment. 3. When I asked for an estimate during initial visits, front desk said they would bill my insurance and report back. Zero effort to confirm coverage and align on treatment costs up front. 4. Billed for multiple cost codes each visit. Billed for 're-education' each visit that I did not request. Brent thinks this is normal practice. I think this is being greedy. 5. Staff will consistently talk with other patients and staff during your treatment. 6. Treatment is not private. Treatment occurs in one room with multiple patients being treated side by side. 7. Hot hot office. Appears they can't afford to cool their space. 8. When tried to set up payment plan with G4 after canceling treatment plan G4 (Brent) agreed to payment plan and agreed verbally to take payments when I could make them. Then they sent me to collections. Recommendation: go somewhere else or find treatments you can do at home yourself. You don't need the hassle of this office. -Nick read more

Encumbered by chronic peroneal tendonitis, I began searching for a new PT in December 2012. I started seeing Brent & Ackerly twice a week. Upon hearing my history of left ankle issues and evaluating my movement, they decided not to exclusively focus on my peroneals, but rather my entire weak left side, under the hypothesis that better movement would be the key to relief. With other PTs I had spent months strengthening my peroneals specifically, with little alleviation of pain. I walked into G4 with near constant peroneal discomfort, frequent shooting pain, and an inability to do much of anything athletic. My discomfort is now rare, shooting pain gone, and I'm moving better and more active than ever, at 34 years old. No magic or miracles, but a plan that worked after other PT plans hadn't. I believe Brent & Ackerly see the chain of cause/effect exceptionally well, and are largely responsible for my positive outcome. read more

Last November I tore both ACLs while training downhill with the national team, and was referred to a different clinic where I was treated like just another hour of their day and was constantly double booked. They spent most of their time on their computers and have me the same exact exercises I could be doing at home. I told my surgeon and he referred me to g4. Best call I've ever made. I am treated as an athlete, and feel confident pushing myself during my sessions while being safe and executing what needs to get done at the same time. Brent and Ackerly are the best PT team I've seen -and I've been to many different clinics over the years. I highly recommend G4 whether you are an athlete or not. The sessions are effective and I am 100% confident in my rehab plan! Still 6 months out until I can ski again, but am so happy I am able to work with these guys until I start training with the team trainers! read more

I am hesitant to place this review as I know the owners and am COMPLETELY confident in their clinical abilities and physical therapy practice. I am just out a lot of money and do not want anyone else to make the same mistake. This review is for the lack of communication/follow through regarding the billing policy/network benefits to be able to go to them. Directly from the website states this: Once you have scheduled an initial consultation, our team will assist you in the process of insurance authorization, benefits, and billing. Remember, most insurance carriers require an approved physician's order to bill for physical therapy services. Ultimately, while it is your responsibility to understand the scope of your insurance parameters, we will gladly work with you in any aspect of this process. Since I know the owner so well, I contacted him to work with me with recovery for an upcoming surgery. I did one consult with his company (prior to surgery, to get a baseline). What I have found out, after receiving a bill from my their office, is that they are out of network with my insurance. Since I work in the medical field, I know it is standard practice to let a patient know when something is out of network so a waiver can be signed. This is to protect the patient and the practice since the patient is usually out a lot of money in the process and, generally, chooses not to continue their care with the out of network provider. When I looked up this provider on my insurance, it was not listed as out of network, it was not listed at all. I figured this was because the practice was so new. I just went along with it since I figured I would have gotten some notice that they were not contracted with my provider (since they help with it-see above). Luckily, I check my online health statements and saw that I had been double billed for the date of service (no therapy, just a pre-surgery eval on 7/25/12 so we could be ahead of the game for my postop recovery period). That is where I also caught that I was out of network. It would have been a VERY expensive mistake. My surgery was on 8/10/12 and my deductible is met for the year. My coverage only requires a co-pay for my PT visits and the rest is covered (which is awesome for PT benefits). I switched therapists to one that was in network and bigger since I was supposed to do PT for 3x/week for the first couple of weeks ($20/visit copay). Now I received a bill from G4 Athlete for $175 that I have to pay them out of pocket (discounted from $225) for a visit that goes against my 20/year that did not accomplish anything for my recovery. I could have gone to 8 (almost 9) PT visits at another clinic for that. I am disappointed in how this was handled and do not want to press the issue with the staff. Again, clinically, this place is sound but triple check your benefits. My insurance is United Healthcare for anyone who is wondering. Definitely not a small name company. read more

My family are on the gold plan of frequent customers with Brent and his team. The family has been through 10 knee surgeries, 2 ankle surgeries, a hip surgery (next month), non-surgical issues with backs, shin splints, orthotics and probably other things. We've been with Brent's team through several organizations. We have all had conscientious, respectful, professional care from every one of the providers. You will be in great hands if you use G4. However, it's not just about them. It's about you. For them to get the results you want, you need to make a commitment. You don't just go to your appointments, you put in the time and do the exercises they give you between appointments. If you don't put in the time, it wont' matter how good they are. read more

I was getting desperate, I had maxed out the potential for non-custom orthotics, my former orthotics maker had retired on her sailboat. I've got Morton's toe, bunions, hammer toes, 4 Morton's neuromas and high arches and was definitely hobbled by foot and knee pain by the time I went to see him. He spent a lot of time measuring my feet in different positions, watched me walk, dxd my knee pain as related to my foot inserts. The orthotics started helping quickly, It took 3 months of exercises/ massage/ usd/ another high tech therapy I can't remember to get the knee healthy. by summer 2013 I was able to go backpacking! something I hadn't done in 10 years. I highly recommend G4 if you need physical therapy or rehab for any injuries. I injured my knee a little over two months ago and started going here prior to my surgery to work through some of my pain issues. They were incredibly helpful and use all of the latest and greatest methods and gadgets to help with the process. Now I am two weeks post-op and I can't believe how much they have already helped me gain back most of the movement and flexibility I had prior to my injury. What I love about this place is they don't push you too quickly. They ease you into the healing process so as not to reinjure or cause stress. I feel like I am going to be in way better shape then I was even prior to my injury. The staff is great and everybody is so friendly when you walk in. You may even see some pro athletes when you are in there which is always fun. I don't wish injury on anybody, but if it happens to you and you need help, I highly recommend G4. read more
