Absolutely one of the best recommendations I've ever received for a practitioner - Dr. Eva Miller is excellent.

If you don't make money for them, they'll drop you like a hot rock. I'm pretty healthy and wanted to go see about any alternatives to my condition. The first red flag appeared when the ND wanted me to designate him as my PCP. Who does this? RED RED FLAG. The first meeting should be your interview with your care provider and see if it is a good fit. Customer service is very very poor with their staff. All they do is read a script. They don't listen to you. I was most likely on some list to rid me. This is a trend in many medical places. I feel this place misrepresents itself in a manipulative way to lure lonely people who want to be part of something. Beware. They try to suck you into spending money at this place. People are lonely these days, and they manipulate a person into spending money to feel loved and cared. It's a business. BEWARE. An ND has no power to order real medical tests as I also found out from a medical testing center staff stating I need a MD to put in an order. THEY CANNOT ACCEPT THEIR ORDER from an ND. I wrote a review on Google and they replied with false statements. When a place has to write a long, lengthy personal reply - it's a red flag. They should try to find out how to do "better". "please call the office to discuss" would be norm. Nobody apologized. It was so bizarre. I do think they drop a lot of patients. Why do they have a script? I believed in the Naturopathic way to solve many ailments, but after this I don't think so. They don't have any pull to even have you go get medical tests done- except bloodwork. Beware. I saw Dr. Wheeler years ago for what I know can see, was mast cell activation syndrome. He seemed to have a lot of confidence in figuring out the 'mystery' surrounding my severe IBS and other health problems. He seemed overly self-confident but was unable to figure out what was going on. He gave me infusions for my low iron, which I needed. But he gave them to me in 5 minutes time and claimed the short time-frame 'didn't matter.' It mattered.. big-time. My mast cell went from 20% to 80% overnight after these infusions. I have waited to share this here because I truly feel at the time, he was trying to help. But there are clear studies citing severe mast cell can be caused by these 'quick' infusions and my current immunologist confirmed this for me. I'm leaving this as a word of caution for anyone who might be getting iron infusions here - be aware of how dangerous it can be. Not just for individuals with MCAS but for ANYONE in general. I wish I could turn back the clock and get my life back. read more

I come here for accupunture with Zen Attitude Accupunture and am seen by Phi-Lan Nguyen. She has helped me through shoulder pain which.has bothered me for several years and I'm finally at almost no pain as long as I don't miss my appointments. The front desk staff at SageMed are friendly and remember me (even with a mask). I have only great things about this place. I discovered this place several years ago when I wanted a food allergy test, and I had a pretty good experience getting that test done. Since then, I started seeing Dr. Althaus as my primary care physician and I have also seen Dr. Miller. Dr. Miller was extremely rude and impersonal. As I left her office after my first meeting with her, I knew it would be my last. Maybe she and I are just really different people but I found her to be condescending and rude. Her lack of compassion was diabolical for her line of work. Dr. Althaus is a lot more personable. My problem with her is that I qualify for additional cancer screening because of my risk assessment, and she missed that. I told her all my medical history in person, and I filled it all out on the online form. At my last mammogram, Dr. Althaus referred me for a second mammogram and an ultrasound. From that doctor, I learned that I more than qualify for additional cancer screening. I have a lot of breast cancer on both sides of my family, and Dr. Althaus had me monitoring myself like I am an average risk. I am thankful to learn that I qualify for two screenings a year (second one being an MRI), and I will be pursuing that. I have lost faith and trust in this clinic. I really wanted to like them but it has been one frustrating experience after the next. read more

First of all, the office staff is amazing. They are great about scheduling (and rescheduling), and it never takes too long to get an appointment. They are friendly and make me feel comfortable from the start. And of course, the medical staff. I love every doctor I have met at Sage. It is clear that they really care about individual patient care, about collaboration and continued education, about making patients feel comfortable and heard. And they are really, really good about identifying and solving problems and really listening to their patients. My primary, Eva, meets me in the waiting room, takes me to her office (which is super beautiful and comfortable), and talks to me about what's going on. I don't have to repeat myself on forms and to nurses and doctors and wait forever for them to even come into the room. I've been seeing Phi-Lan for 3 months now. I fell in love with her by the second week. I struggle with a couple of autoimmune chronic pain conditions and she has already improved my quality of life a great deal. Plantar Fasciitis, allergies, stress headaches and TMJ migraines, lower back and hip pain, energy and stress levels.... I'm not sure there's anything that Phi-Lan and her acupuncture can't help me with! She's a great listener and takes a very methodical approach to what ails you physically and mentally. Thanks to her I don't have to do steroid shots in my foot, my allergies are lessened and I can now talk to my neighbors without sneezing non-stop, and my stress levels while still high are much more managed and don't control me as they did before. I really enjoy and fully recommend my personal physician, that being said she is the only medical doctor in the practice. If you are looking for a more traditional physician, this is probably not the place for you, but I appreciate the holistic approach of the practice to your health in general. The only reason I wouldn't give it five stars is because they do shy away from some of the more traditional medical treatments, which is generally good in my personal opinion, but can be taken a little too far I think. They also always try to sell you their supplements, which they very possibly have your best interest in mind, but I am sure they are getting a direct cut of those supplements that they sell in house. That small seemingly possible conflict of interest is the only thing that makes me a little bit wary of the business, but all in all I definitely recommend them, and appreciate the care they provide. read more

You have acupuncturists....Then, you have Phi-Lan. A true healer. I tweaked my shoulder pretty badly while rock climbing. Had pain for weeks and was extremely frustrated! I've been seeing Dr. Sage for 10 years. He is by far the best doctor I've seen. Recently, I was feeling a lot of pain on my knees ( as I had ACL 10 years ago) and the jiu-jitsu classes would not help it. Phi Nguyen is a miracle worker. I've been suffering from chronic migraines for the past six years. It got progressively worse and worse as each year passed. I finally got desperate and tried acupuncture two years ago with a different provider. Acupuncture was the first thing that helped my migraines become less frequent. Dr Sage Wheeler is a Fantastic Physician. He is knowledgeable in both traditional medicine and more natural paths to healing. Always takes the time to listen and explain fully the what and why. My conditions were not being addressed with my original doctor. He reviewed the lab reports I brought in (was able to read them right off my thumb drive right there), took the time to ask about my problems, and checked me over. He recommended some supplements and wrote a prescription that day which started me to feeling better than I had in years. Followed by requesting a battery of tests that revealed additional problems. Another prescription and I'm back off the couch, out digging garden, and chopping wood. I fly in from the Chicago area to see him twice a year now. I first came to Phi-Lan after experiencing "sciatic" related pain down my left leg. Being that I'm a physical therapist, I self treated for 2 weeks but was only able to reduce the symptoms minimallly. As soon as it became too uncomfortable to demonstrate certain exercises I decided to stop being stubborn and seek alternative treatment. I am lucky enough to have found Phi-Lan because after 2 visits she reduced my pain by 50%. By the 4th visit all of my pain was gone! I was amazed at how well it worked. This review is for Phi Lan Nguyen, the acupuncturist. I have had chronic neck and upper back discomfort for the last 7 years. This is most likely due to having to hang my bowling ball of a head over my neck, looking down and having my arms in a static position for long periods of time at work. I have tried routine massage, foam rollers, rehabilitation exercises and all have worked only to a certain degree, but have not completely eliminated the problem. Desperate to try something that might relive this nagging ache in conjunction with everything else that I've been doing, I started looking up acupuncturists online. I found Phi Lan online, here at Yelp reviews. Made an online appointment and went in for my first session a week ago. Being a skeptic at first and a bit afraid of needles, I actually wanted it not to work so I wouldn't have to be back. But unfortunately and fortunately, the first session made me WANT to go back for another. The stiff neck that would greet me first thing in the morning was gone. And then I waited for it to come back, but it never did. I waited for my ache in my traps and scapula area to start screaming again, but it was rather quite. I could feel the usual soreness/ache after a day of work, but it never got 'that' bad. Having dealt with this for so long I'm surprised I can go on days w/o thinking about it. There are flare-ups but it goes away really quickly with an ice pack or a stretch, which it never did before. It is as if the acupuncture allowed this area to start healing. So, I just had my second session today. I don't worry about the needles so much since I know what to expect, nothing more than a rubber band snap at most. I had worse pain when my dog runs straight into my ankle. Hopefully, this review has helped someone make the decision to see Phi Lan for whatever ache they have. It has taught me to be open minded about different ways of healing. When my dentist and doctor advised surgery for my TMJ, I looked around for alternative options. I am opposed to most Western philosophies of drugs or cutting myself open to solve a problem. I have a double review to put out there. Firstly, let's talk acupuncture. Maybe you're thinking-being poked by needles is weird, or painful, or counterproductive to fixing muscle pain and tension. You'd be wrong. I suffered a lovely lil accident on 520 and pretended everything was peachy keen (except for some minor neck twitches). Lo and behold, a few weeks later it hurt to move, and became dangerous to drive as my upper back and neck locked up. Coupled with a constant raging headache. All in all - nasty whiplash pains. Don't let it get to the desperate place I found myself. As opposed to massage, (which was so incredibly painfully during this whip lash time, tears were produced)... acupuncture gently relieves the pressure and has corrected much of my neck pain and headache issues. Phi Lan Nguyen is one part magic, two parts practical Zen Buddha. You're not going to get any patchouly oil and hippie dippy vibes there. She's a complete professional who will assess your treatment goals, respond accordingly,, all while always taking your body's feedback. Practically speaking, she recommended two things. 1. cut back my coffee and 2. go see Sage. Well...ignored her on the coffee, but went to see Sage Wheeler N. D., a chiropractic extraordinaire. While at first terrified of adjustments with the whiplash and extreme muscle tension, after an acupuncture session or two, my body had a relaxed enough to move.. Dr. Sage was able to expertly make adjustments. Finally, I could fully breath again. The entire staff at Sage med has been kind, professional, and empathetic. Can not recommend them enough. English I've been dealing with a lower back herniated disc for 8 years, taking pain medicine when needed and even had a surgery in 2010; this year I had an injury while I was training for my second Marathon and when I saw the spine specialist he recommended me to go to physical therapy and get a cortisol shot so I decided to only go to physical therapy and avoid the infiltration and tried to find some alternative medicine to that. So this is how after getting some recommendations from a friend I ended up going to SageMed specifically with Phi Lan, I never considered acupuncture and when I got in my expectations were not really high but since day one I started to feel better and Phi Lan's treatment was nothing but excellent, I went trying to find an alternative and ended up finding a solution and making a new friend in her.
