I live about an hour from this office but I'll never go anywhere else. Dr. Young is as good as it gets!

Also consulted with Dr. Shafer and am very pleased with his approach to my back issues and making sure that my care path for the pain I was experiencing was fully understood. All the rest... needs work. My major complaints: 1: impossible to get my scheduler on the phone. Left voicemail after voicemail trying to get in touch, only after digging through old papers was I able to find a direct number that got me on the phone. The attitude of the people answering the phone is poor and caused unnecessary stress pre-operation. The scheduler was helpful once getting in contact, but it should not have been that difficult. 2: called 3 times (yes, 3) before my surgery to make sure they had tall crutches for me. I am a person of exceptional height and i made sure to call ahead of time to verify that crutches for me would be available and was blown off as if it was a stupid question. On the day of my surgery, they came in and said that they didnt have tall enough crutches for me. Had to buy some online and went home with a walker that's too small and now have to haggle with insurance to get my crutches. They were rude to my caretaker when they attempted to ask about the crutch situation as well. In general, the support staff acts like doing their job is an inconvenience. If you value a fully supportive care experience, it could be hit or miss here. I am extremely happy with my choice to work with Dr. Downer, but I have learned that his expertise comes at the price of flaky support staff.

This was exactly what had happened the first time with this provider but I had forgotten about it. Stereotypical surgeon bedside manner, shook hands and then it was a whirlwind and over. I could see him stiffening when I started to ask a question. Probably because the outcomes of the procedure were not as expected? There was zero compassion. You just know when you don't want to go back to a provider because of their demeanor and this was one of those encounters. The front desk and MA were definitely more personable and interactive. And I agree, the one scheduler who answers the phone is likely overworked, but boy she was a ding-dong and rude to boot. The confirmation text message was for the wrong clinic! When I called back to check she was indifferent and unapologetic: well, 'our message system is wonky' sometimes! What?! I could have gone to the wrong clinic and missed my appointment altogether. Who hires and trains these people?? And...I am a medical provider myself, don't expect special treatment, but I like to be treated the way I treat my patients which is not in this manner. Humility should be the bedrock of the bedside approach, but providers like these give all docs a bad name. I apologize on behalf of this provider to patients and caregivers who have been been at the receiving end of such impersonal and condescending interactions with a doc.

She walked me through a multitude of range of motion tests. All this leading to a workout regimen that she kindly emailed to me. Also, Matthew (at the front desk) was great. Although I was there an hour early, he was willing to provide alternate timeslots at the drop of a hat. All in all, a wonderful customer experience. Should I get health insurance, I would come back for a more prolonged P/T treatment plan here.

It has taken forever for my injury to heal after a couple of surgeries and the laser therapy here really helps aid in the recovery. From the first visit you can notice real improvement in range of motion and no more pain! This is incredible and I'm not sure why more places don't offer laser therapy as a non-invasive treatment. Colin is super friendly and makes the sessions go by quickly and painlessly. They have all types of equipment for any kind of PT you may require and have private room spaces if multiple PTs are working with patients. They practice social distancing and good COVID-19 precautions, wearing masks and requiring patients to do the same at all times. The space is warm and inviting with a waiting area at the front. They put out a quarterly newsletter that is great to read while you wait. They seem to always have interesting workshops available as well as informational tidbits worth learning about in the newsletter that you have to get in-person at your visit. I definitely don't dread going to PT here so that's an improvement from the PT place I had to go to as a teenager with a similar injury.

I was able to book an appointment within a week, which was very convenient. The front desk is very friendly, prompt, and polite. To a point where I felt service I was receiving was noticeably high quality. They also require that all patients wear a mask during these times, which I appreciated. The place is not very big, so every time I went, I did not have to worry about being close to others and did not notice any other patients waiting. After discussing with Dr. Anderson about what my issues were, he took the time to explain to me what the potential issues could me, which I really appreciated. They ran some X-rays on the spot, and after a few minutes, Dr. Anderson took me to his computer where we went over his thought process of what I had. He laid out 3 options for me without being pushy about any. I decided to go with an MRI next (since my bones seemed fine). When I came for my follow-up appointment, Dr. Anderson showed me the MRI on his computer and walked me through his thought process of what he saw. He laid out the options of either more PT or speaking to a surgeon. We talked it through and I've decided to now go see a surgeon since PT wasn't working. He made a point to refer me to someone who he felt wasn't going to push surgery on me and look all of the information before making a decision, which I appreciated. Overall, I really recommend this place! I feel that I received high quality service and would definitely return if I have any other issues.

I was told "He does not diagnose things comprehensively like that. You have to make an appointment for one body part at a time." That seemed odd, but his online profile sounded so wonderful that I decided to continue. Long story short, this office views things very very rigidly and compartmentalized. The receptionist seems to have oppositional defiant disorder and that's a reflection on the person who hired her, to me. In fact, she verbally chastised me, at length, not once, but twice, for trying to follow the city's COVID-19 restrictions to keep other patients safe when my daughter was sick. Apparently it was an inconvenience for her. That attitude really concerned me as I want a doctor who is looking out for everyone's best interest, not only their own interests. I never did get a helpful diagnosis in the end. I am sure she will fight this review, too. LOL.

I initially sought help from another sports medicine doctor who ordered an MRI but ultimately told me the pain was "in my head" and that I just needed to deal with it. That experience left me feeling discouraged and hopeless. Thankfully, I was later referred to Dr. Grant Garcia, and my experience with him was completely different. During my first visit, Dr. Garcia reviewed the same MRI and immediately identified the issue: significant cartilage damage that the previous doctor had missed. It turned out I had damaged and was missing all the cartilage between my femur and patella. Dr. Garcia walked me through my options with compassion and clarity, and together we decided on MACI--a procedure where they take my own cartilage, grow it in a lab, and use it to repair the damaged area. I had the surgery a year ago, and it has truly changed my life. The pain is completely gone, and I'm able to run again! Dr. Garcia gave me hope when I needed it most. His expertise, attention to detail, and care for his patients set him apart. I can't recommend him highly enough to anyone suffering from knee pain or sports injuries.
