I'm a 70 year old retired man. I've been around, I've met a lot of people and dealt with many…read morecontractors. I've never had a worse customer experience than I had with Suncraft. Last April (2025), I hired them to replace the 30 year old wood deck (also Suncraft) on the back of my house with (mostly) composite. The sales and design phase were fine, John offered several excellent suggestions. Jeff, the owner, is an extremely unlikable, overbearing, condescending, arrogant know-it-all who doesn't understand basic physics. The ground under the deck is sloped and I clearly said not to use fine pea gravel under the deck because it would wash out during heavy rain. How do I know? Because that's what happened with the first Suncrap deck and it ruined my lawn for years. Well they used fine gravel and over the winter it slid downhill and pushed the wooden skirt under the deck out of alignment by a couple inches. Jeff couldn't understand how that happened, wasn't very interested in fixing it and I got him to push back the gravel and the wall. I suggested covering the gravel with plastic to cut down on the settling and he refused, but he told me he'd leave plastic and I could do it myself. Really? He didn't. So the problem that didn't exist before the Suncraft Touch is now oozing down the slope and I have to deal with this fiasco created by Jeff because he doesn't listen to customer input. The actual workmanship by the crew is subpar, to be polite. Poor joinery, the rail cap is a deck board screwed to the rail (and that's an "upgrade") The rail ends look unfinished and bush league. They built the stairs over a very obvious sprinkler head that required an emergency callout to my sprinkler company ($200). The deck failed final inspection on THREE counts. By the time they fixed that, it was mid-September. Been "doing this a long time" and can't pass a building inspection? There's a bunch of other stuff, I could fill a couple pages. To sum up: For $28k, you get a crappy deck and a slow moving gravelanche under it to deal with for the rest of your life. In our conversations covering 15 minutes total Jeff told me repeatedly he'd "been doing this a long time." And this is the best you can do? Really, look elsewhere. Anywhere else.

We had two showers we wanted old, dated tile removed and new, large profile tile installed. The…read moreshowers were simple and straightforward. Carifa supplied the Schluter materials and installed them (Kerdi Board wall substrate behind the wall tile and Ditra Uncoupling membrane under floor tile). These are without an equal. There was a lack of communication during the home visit to prepare a quote. It was disappointing. We almost cancelled the entire project with Carifa based off that experience. The Owner, Joe, got involved when I called the Carifa office after no response from the salesperson. Joe listened to my experience, took over preparing an accurate proposal/quote. An important detail to note: each homeowner is responsible to select and purchase any tiles and certain Schluter products like edge or transition profiles. You can work with any supplier you want. The salesperson will steer you to The Tile Shop. They said they used to work at The Tile Shop. We had already purchased our wall and floor tiles from Floor and Decor. Carifa's salesperson started telling me we had purchased factory defective materials and subpar materials; something that is not true at all!! We had not picked up the tile from Floor and Décor yet so they did not "see" our materials but made these disparaging remarks. Why did we continue with Carifa? Because they used the Schluter products and had the installation craftsman. After getting past the preconstruction details Carifa sent Paco who prepared the areas where work was performed by covering all floors and furniture with protection. The same day Paco demolished and removed all the existing wall tile and materials down to the framing. Paco is a hard working, focused worker who kept our home clean during the demolition phase. No dumpster was provided during demolition and demolished materials were piled on our driveway until a dumpster was delivered a day or so later. After demolition Jack and Pedro arrived to complete the prep work and begin installation of the Schluter wall and floor products. I recognized quickly that Jack is a talented craftsman understanding that the products being installed under the finished tile are key to the final product. Jack kept us informed with everything he was doing including asking for our input regarding installation preferences. I cannot say enough good things about Jack. After he completed all the installation Carifa advertises they perform a "final walkthrough." It's also in the proposal. Jack completed all installation on Wednesday February 25th. On Tuesday of the following week, March 3rd, I had no communication from anyone at Carifa. There were a couple things that Carifa did not perform; sealing the grout that the proposal said would be performed 96 hours after the tile was grouted and reinstalling our toilet removed to install new floor tile. I reinstalled the toilet. I emailed Joe at Carifa of these items and asked for a (credit) for the items not performed. I never got a reply. On March 3rd I contacted Tom, Carifa's project manager, and asked for a status update and requested a date for the "final walkthrough." Tom came out the next day, Wednesday March 4th; one week after Jack had completed all installation work. Tom acknowledged that Joe had received my request/email for the deduct for work not performed and forwarded it to Tom. He spent a few minutes (literally a few) looking at both showers. Having performed hundreds of similar "close out final inspection walkthroughs" on projects I was ready to bring my Carifa experience to some closure. 3 weeks after the "final walkthrough" I received a final invoice that did deduct what I had requested. I promptly (the same day) paid the balance due. There has been no "thank you for your business" nor any communication from Carifa whatsoever. Here's my point: people who choose Carifa are going to pay a premium price for the privilege of having work performed. Carifa may use the finest materials available and have craftsman like Jack installing materials, but when everything before and after Jack is bush league and amateurish it sours the experience and make no mistake about it: you are paying for service too. The bottom line: would I choose Carifa again? Maybe. Having more 4 decades of high end construction experience I have not often been "the customer" but I know what a customer is. I moved forward with my eyes wide open hoping I would get the end result I sought after: two showers that will provide years of trouble free use. I believe I received that. Each person who has read this far will need to make their own decision. Lots of Yelp reviewers did not have this experience. My Ratings: pre and post construction experience gets a One (1). The installation work performed by Paco, Jack, and Pedro: I give Jack a 10, but Yelp limits the highest choice to 5 out of 5. Overall Carifa gets a generous three (3).

It turned out better than we could have imagined. We are extremely happy with the craftsmanship and professionalism of all the workers and would definitely recommend Carifa Tile. Description of Work: We had the shower seat torn out and replaced with granite. The seat front, sides and shower basin were removed and replaced with tile. Mostly good, but several workmanship issues…read more Creekside Coverings recently completed our outdoor stair reconfiguration project, transforming our straight stairway into a more functional design with a landing and a 90-degree turn onto a paver patio. While the team finished on schedule, the final result revealed some craftsmanship challenges. The project's core functionality meets our expectations. However, in our opinion, certain details fall short of what we would consider more commonly-used construction practices. Key observations follow. 1. The deck planks on the landing are installed parallel to the support joists. This necessitated the addition of blocking between the joists. The blocking was added after the deck planks were secured to the landing frame. In addition, the decking appears to be fastened only to the landing's frame, without direct attachment to the joists or blocking. 2. The newly-constructed landing appears to have been designed without sufficient attention to detail, in our opinion. The shape of the landing necessitated the placement of an additional railing post adjacent to an existing post on the landing to properly secure the bottom section staircase railing. 3. The two new posts on the new landing are slightly different in size than the original posts, and their caps do not match the existing post caps. The contractor mentioned these items to us after they were already installed on the stairway, and he told us that they would not affect functionality. With attention to the observations above, this would easily be a five star project.
