We would find decent pieces but they'd always be too short or too wide. It seemed like the perfect piece was going to be impossible to find and we were about to settle on something we didn't love when we stumbled about Alex at Rework Finishings. Alex walked us through some options where he would create a piece for us based on exactly what we wanted. It seemed too good to be true. We took a leap and decided to commission the piece at what was a very fair rate. Just a few weeks later our gorgeous new table was delivered and it blew away our expectations! We had the exact look we desired and paid less than if we had purchased from a high end furniture retailer. We could not be happier with our experience with Rework! We are looking forward to finding another project for our home so that Rework can build us another awesome custom piece!

Re:Work's commitment to building furniture from reclaimed barns is smack on point! I was introduced to this husband-and-wife-run show at a Yelp event showcasing locally run businesses around central Ohio. They know where to look, who to know, and how to make wonderful furniture. Picture frames, tables, basically, you name it and, if it's feasible, they'll make it! We were able to make a simple, but classy wood plant vase out of their reclaimed barn wood. "Reduce, reuse, recycle" at its finest! I'm excited that they're working on expanding there work space. Having the front-space addition, they're planning to make a "show room"/ come and try/experience their offerings before you chat and decide on a design. Nice!

I had seen a retractable deck cover with a permanent frame at the home and garden show. I had…read morereached out to the local rep asking for information and she sent me a link to an online catalog. Long story short, she was NOT helpful in any way - merely an order taker. I couldn't make heads or tail of their website - but I knew exactly what I wanted. I looked elsewhere for a vendor to no avail. Even if I had ordered with the online company, I would have had to install myself or find an installer. So I turned to Yelp . . . I have had MUCH success with Yelp finding excellent service and skilled providers. I entered the details of what I wanted and submitted the project for response. I got maybe 4 companies contacting me - one being Eric Call Contracting. This company asked to schedule some time to talk - and so we did. All the other responses merely asked if I HAD the deck covering as they just wanted to install it. None would entertain the idea of helping me source the deck cover. Eric and Angie showed up when they said they would and we began to talk. I explained what I wanted, showed the brochure from the home and garden show, showed them our deck - and they went to work. Eric tried to work with the awning company I had wanted to buy from - but he got nowhere despite being more persistent than me. Eric still understood what I wanted - a permanent frame that would attach to and extend up from the deck with canvas runners that we would open and pull shut and remove in the winter. We would also be able to replace the runners should they get damaged. Eric drew up a design and shared it with me - along with possible runners he found on Amazon. We had a lot of back and forth and they were great keeping in touch. I finally decided to go with them despite having no other bids for comparison. Clearly no one else wanted to do the work needed to get me the deck covering I wanted. I signed on the dotted line and cut a check to get the project started. Again, Eric and Angie did a great job of communicating with me and providing updates. Although working through Yelp does provide some financial protection, I was still nervous going with the first company I contacted. But they definitely earned my trust - the materials showed as promised. And work began as promised, and before I knew it, my vision of a deck covering had materialized! Our deck is on the back/south side of the house. There are no trees or shading so we fight to keep the house cool on sunny days. We had recently replaced a large, rust painted deck with a smaller light treated wood deck. Now with this covering, we are already enjoying not having to turn on the A/C as much, leaving the back door open for a breeze, and actually being able to sit on our deck when the sun is hot. We've also been able to pull the runners closed when a windy storm hit. And in the winter, I'll take the runners down to protect them and allow full sun in the cold temperatures. I cannot say enough about how I appreciated the work this company did. I highly recommend you contact them when you have a project.

They were accepting, even encouraging, of evolving the project and change orders along the way. They arranged for the trades to additional small changes beyond the project while those trades were in our house. Our project was not an addition, it involved renovations with impact throughout our house. The results look like they have always been part of our home not added on. I recommend ECC without hesitation.

We decided to sign up for "Woodshop Orientation A: Table Saw, Miter Saw, Jointer & Planer" in the hopes that it would help us with our first home project. The cost is $90 per person for non members. Yes, you can become a member but I'm not going to get into all that info in this review. If you want more info on that, check out their website. When we arrived on a Saturday morning, our class was given a mini tour of the foundry. Then we went into the workshop that they utilize as their classroom. There was one instructor for our small class of 9 people. I appreciated that the class was small. I also enjoyed the instructors vast knowledge and concern for woodshop safety. In fact, maybe the class should have been named Woodshop Safety 101. We went through the class with one piece of wood, starting by making a cut with the miter saw, and working out way through the use of each tool. By the end of the class we had a perfectly cut and planed smaller piece of wood. Ultimately what I think I got from this class was the confidence to use machinery such as the table saw and miter saw on my own. The class gave me a real chance in my adult years to use these tools and I hope that will be helpful for me in the future.
