Hot fudge sundae.

"Last time I was in this place was nearly thirty years ago." Wincing, "really? You don't look over thirty." Oh, G.D. Ritzy's. Don't you ever change. And I'll try to stay the same, too. Promise.

The guy ringing us up was on his phone while taking our order, and to our order wrong. Then him and another employee who were both on their phones got our ice cream without gloves. Then went back to texting. Gross Also waited to get our receipt and they never gave it to us. My husband ordered a double cheeseburger and they gave him a single.

On a recent trip to Evansville we were looking for a quick lunch. The most basic of lunches - burger and fries. Sometimes you don't want something corporate or fancy or clever or original or novel, you just want a great burger and fries. The first criteria was nothing corporate...nothing from some big-ass national chain of assembly line, pre-processed, over-priced, redundant food. Enter GD Ritzy's. We'd driven past GD Ritzy's the previous day and within 5 minutes I was Yelping and Googling to see what it was about....and I liked what I read. I had even looked at the menu so even though it would be the next day, I knew what I was going to order. On this particular weekend (Memorial Day weekend) the dining room was closed, so we got into the drive thru line, which wasn't too bad, given it was 12:30 in the afternoon. The line was moving pretty quickly. I ordered a double cheese burger with everything and fries (and a HUGE ass Dr. Pepper®), my wife a plan hot dog and onion rings. From the time we ordered to the time we got to the window was less than five minutes. A quick exchanged of cash for food and we were on our way. Since the dining room wasn't open we drove to Vann Park to eat (it was about a five minute drive) where we landed on a pic-a-nic table to have lunch. I don't know what it is about local eateries but that was, no joke, the best burger I've had in AAAAGES. Commercial/chain restaurants are more about productivity, but this burger from G D Ritzy's was AWESOME. The ratio of toppings to burger patties to cheese was absolutely spot-on. The fries (shoestring fries) were good, but they're never my go-to. My wife said the hot dog was good and I was able to sneak an onion ring from her and it was killer! So our first visit to G D Ritzy's wasn't just a success, it was "holy cow, this is good, we're going to visit again the next time we're in town!" good! Catch you on July 4th weekend!

I love this salad from here!! It is the only thing I get. It is very filling and worth the money. The staff is always nice and are very helpful. The restaurant is always clean, even the outside is clean. The drive thru can be kind of slow sometimes, but goes for every where right now, since everyone is so short staffed.

My first visit, I waa greatest with kindness and a smile. The meal was made to order and pretty fast. Once seated I noticed how clean the carpeted area looks compared to other eating establishments around. All of my questions were answered with enthusiasm and a politeness that I feel has been lacking in small burger establishments. Over all a ( 5 *) star staff makes it worth while!

Goodnl food and EXCELLENT service, the young man taking our order was extremely polite and patient as we weren't sure what we wanted

We had excellent service and the young man taking our order was patient and kind. There however is a light that needs fixing in the dining area that may cause a seizure. Fix that soon so I may return. Sincerely, Epileptic

Best Swiss chocolate ice cream in the tristate! Ordered a quart of ice cream reasonably priced. Don't like their straw fries.

Food is always delicious. It's a good place to bring kids. Very much the "old diner" atmosphere.

Food is good but seems like they add ice cubes in the ice cream for filler. Large balls of ice throughout the "ice cream".

We usually come here just for ice cream and it's always good. The chocolate, pumpkin and banana pudding ice cream are my favorites.

Funnel cakes are made with a funnel. What you have is fried toast. 2nd my breakfast came cold, Not even the butter on the top of the potatoes would melt. I sent it back. Instead of preparing an entirely new plate as should have happened it was microwaved and returned to me. So my over medium eggs became hard eggs. The sausage was not freshly prepared but have been sitting on the grill, kept slightly warm and dried out , in other words it had been precooked and it was awful.. It was clear that I was very displeased. Consequently,, the restaurant comped my bill without my asking. Not sure what I would recommend except that the basics of the food hot and not cold making sure that it is perfect - over medium means over medium, not hard. Advertise something as a funnel cake then Google how to make funnel cakes otherwise advertise it as fried bread. Morr and more restaurants are going to having the bacon and the sausage sitting on the side of the grill and that is just gross. Certainly staff were very nice and prompt for the exception of letting my meal get cold before they gave it to me. And I fell that they were trying hard. Would I recommend them to someone else? No. Would I return? No

We stumbled across this restaurant on our trip to Evansville to visit the LST, and the Cross Eyed…read moreCricket was nearby. Trusting their website advice to overlook the appearance of their restaurant, which is located in an older house in a more industrial area, we decided to have dinner in a non traditional restaurant, and we were very glad that we did. The service was excellent, so friendly and efficient that we could have been in a 5 star restaurant. But you wouldn't find food that good in most fancy restaurants. We started with a plate of fried green tomatoes, and while no one is ever going to fix them as well as Daddy did in his iron skillet, they provided a dip to join them that was quite good... certainly, not one that Daddy ever thought of! Auntie had the pulled pork dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy & apple sauce. She ordered the appetizer brussell sprouts, and they were amazing! Hubby went with one of his favorite meals: fried catfish; yes, he almost inhaled it! As always, his German fried potatoes were great, and what can you really say about cottage cheese? It was there, and he ate it I went for the kubuki steak with fried cabbage & onions & mushrooms. The fried rice was delicious, but the ribeye took "delicious" to a whole new level! Oh! My goodness! It practically melted in my mouth! And the cabbage!! Wonderful! The "50's" down-home furnishings were likely family hand-me-downs & yard-sale finds, not particularly pretty but serviceable and authentic. Everything was very clean, even the too-small restroom, which reminded me of the first one my grandmother ever had in her house. Again, it was clean, but there was a leak on the restroom floor, something that can easily be repaired. If you are looking for upscale decor, don't come here. But if you want terrific food, friendly service, and a delightful experience, be sure to visit the Cross Eyed Cricket; it's wonderful! I understand there's a sister Cross Eyed Cricket in a three-story building right in the middle of the charming downtown. Their food might be almost as good as we had, but I think the lost atmosphere will detract from the visit. It's your call!
