Kudos for Steve and the Gardelle Construction & Landscaping team for their excellent work updating…read moremy front yard landscaping. They planted a beautiful tiered garden of box hedge, azalea and more and added rock gardens around the established trees, creating depth and variety below the porch that coordinates well with the style and color of the house. They installed much-needed path lighting and added charming lighting in the trees with spot lighting from below--all on timers for maximum effect and convenience. They made some improvements to the back yard as well, creating a flagstone patio for our outdoor dining table, adding a flagstone path through our azalea/hydrangea garden for better access, and a flagstone pad--a nice level surface--at the water spigot. From planning to execution, working with Steve and his team was smooth and collaborative. They took what we had envisioned for the space and elevated it with their expert design. The finished product is fabulous. My front yard not only looks great--people stop and comment how lovely it is--it also has added to the property value and is worth the investment! The quality and expertise of Gardelle's work alone speaks for itself, but it doesn't stop there. Steve and the team were great to work with, finished the job on time, and left the work area spotless each day. Five stars for Gardelle. We highly recommend them! --Don and Judy Maderious

We next used Gardelle in 2004 when we bought a fixer upper. This job was a complete demo and re-do. Once again, Gardelle designed a beautiful front and back yard including new concrete decking around the pool, outdoor kitchen, pergola, brick porch, plants, trees, etc. And now in 2026 we had Gardelle back to do some updating to both our front and back yard. Through all three projects over the course of 30 years, Gardelle's word and work has been exceptional and beyond reproach. Gardelle's team is there when they say they will be there and do the work they say they are going to do. Every. Single. Time. Steve and Iliana in the office are extremely responsive and correct issues immediately, even going so far as to fix problems on their own dime, even if its the customers fault. And I should know because over the course of 30 years and 3 projects, I've made a few mistakes! Their quotes are not the cheapest nor are they the most expensive but in this case, even if they were the most expensive, I would still use them every single time simply because the company treats their customers right. It's a rarity in today's world to find a company that is true to their word and stands by their work. I cannot possibly recommend Gardelle Landscaping & Construction any more. The staff and Steve Gardelle are second to none.

Early on I reached out to Ve and 5 other landscapers for quotes. Ve was always there, on time and continuously willing to discuss options and pricing. Ve estimated 6 weeks to complete the project (big project - 5000 sq ft) and it took 5.5 weeks. Mind you this was all dirt before Ve took it in. Happy to be a reference for anyone thinking of hiring Ve. Highly recommended.

ZERO STARS!!! I…read moredon't demand a lot: communication, fairness, professionalism. This company fell short on ALL counts!!! On August 18th, Paul came out to look at the work I needed done: a repair and rebuild of a decomposed granite path that had eroded in my backyard. He took measurements and we discussed the details of the work to be performed. By August 21st, I had not yet received a quote, so I reached out to Michelle in their office. SIX DAYS LATER, on August 27th, I was copied on an email from Michelle to Paul requesting the info from the site visit so that she could prepare a quote. I received a quote the following day, Aug 28th, signed it and sent it back the next day. Expecting to be notified that they had received my signed bid and to schedule the work, I was annoyed that I had to reach out to THEM on Sept 4th for an update. I HEARD NOTHING IN RESPONSE! So, I pinged them again on Sept 12th. This time, I received a reply apologizing for the delay and some BS about a new scheduling system. I was told that my job was added to the work list, and that the team had been notified asking for an estimated start date. Here we are, two weeks later, and I have heard absolutely NOTHING from them!! I am forced now to start the process over and find another contractor to do the work. ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC customer service. The lack of communication is inexcusable!!!

Of the other two appointment, one of them did not even send me a proposal after promising me he would. I wanted to have a few proposals before I choose a company so I called a few more. I ended up going with Bay Area Greenscapes and I could not be happier. They were on time to the initial appointment, and Wayne spent a lot of time explaining the process. I was not sure what I wanted but Wayne had some great ideas and was an enormous help. The proposal was timely and was easy to read. They showed up when they said they would and my yard is now the talk of my street. These guys were so courteous and left my job clean everyday. I would highly recommend Bay Area Greenscapes.

I was disappointed with follow up…read more Jason came out (in 2011) to speak to my wife and I about building a retaining wall across the width of our backyard. The wall had to be built to hold back dirt in our backyard which sloped at about a 15% slope down to 3 feet. Initially, we stated our desire for a pressure treated wood wall but he stated a moss rock wall would outlive a wood wall, and be less expensive so we settled on moss rock. Jason promised a lifetime warranty for repair of the wall. The wall looked great and all went well until sometime around 2013/2014 when we noticed 5-8 rocks would occasionally fall off a 8 foot wide section of the wall where the dirt was at the top of the wall. The gardener would haphazardly restack the rocks and I lived with that for a while when finally I called and asked Jason to come out to fix it. He came out once and restacked the wall in 2014. The rocks in that section continued to fall over time and I tried calling Jason. He never called back. It appears he is screening calls because he never answers my calls but the one time I called with my work phone (a number unknown to him) he immediately answered. Most recently I called him on a phone not in my profile and he agreed to come out to look at the wall. He stated the (8 foot) section of wall needs to be restacked and some excavation needs to happen a few feet above the wall and a 2nd tier needs to be built. He said his crew was down from 7 to 2 and he has a hard time meeting commitments, but he would try to get back to me in January some time. I have since tried calling several times and my VMs went unanswered and he does not respond. I'm disappointed for two reasons. I am disappointed in me because I did not get the "lifetime warranty" in writing (shame on me). And I am disappointed in Jason for not making my wall a priority. I guess that tells you about the character of a man that makes such promises and then doesn't follow through. I suppose I "get it" that cost-wise our little wall was "small potatoes" compared to other construction jobs, but to us there is no higher priority. I would suggest getting any promises in writing from this business, expect delays due to a small crew and do not expect follow through on promises. Other than that things were great! I spent 5 hours in a wet downpour on a recent Sunday shaving clay soil off the hill behind the rocks and restacking moss rock to keep the hill dirt from sliding up to the side of our house. I am done hounding him. I have decided to find a more reliable company to repair our section of wall. Consumer beware!
