Gary Forman might be the last honest contractor on the planet. If you want it done right the first time, look no further. Gary will pull every required permit BEFORE the works get done, and he will pass his Building and Safety inspections in a timely and professional manner, the pricing will be fair and honest, and you'll probably make a genuine friend at the end of it all (I know I did). The pride Gary takes in his work and business is evident from start to finish of any job - from his fantastic energy, the quality products and tools that he uses, the attention to detail on every little aspect, and above all else his work ethic. He will be the first one on the job site ready to work and the last one to leave with it cleaner than he found it, and he'll only take Sunday off to RIDE MARATHONS! Now that's the kind of beast we need more of in this land of unlicensed "handymen" and lazy crooks. I dealt with many different contractors throughout the construction process for my new business, even had to report some to the State Contractor's License Board for poor workmanship. When Gary took over is when everything started coming together. He can truly do it all - or on the rare occasion he can't, he knows the right guy for the job. When we started my project, the building had basically been abandoned for a decade and left to the termites. But Gary came in and reframed the entire building, patched all the stucco, redid ALL the drywall, replaced the windows and doors and even an entire wall that was only a few inches away from an adjacent building and so inaccessible (MAGIC!) Termites fear this man let me tell you. He also painted the entire building inside and out, remodeled my bathroom to ADA standards and with some beautiful tile work, and really classed up the place with impeccable trimwork. I could go on and on, but I'm sure the message is clear - if you have a big job, Gary is the General you want at your side. read more

We recently needed some work done on our duplex rental unit. Someone ran their car into the back of the building, causing damage to the outside of our property as well as major damage to the inside wall of the master bedroom. Obviously this needed to get fixed ASAP. Well, finding a contractor is never an easy job. Who do you call? Will they do good work? Are they trustworthy? Will things get done in a timely manner? Fortunately, we looked here on Yelp, and we found G & E Forman Construction. Mr. Forman was everything a good contractor should be. He returned our initial call right away and set up an appointment. He was on time and very professional in giving us his estimate. Right away we knew that we wanted him to do the job. Every step of the way he kept us informed with photos and texts and emails of the progress he was making on our job. His workmanship is top quality. You definitely can see that he knows what he is doing and that he takes pride in getting the job done right. We were beyond thrilled with the final result. And the job was finished in a very reasonable amount of time. I would not hesitate to use G & E Forman Construction again in the future, and I would definitely recommend that anyone who needs a great general contractor should give Gary a call. read more

Gary is our go to guy for all jobs great and small. From a new roof to a leaky faucet, to practical advice on the endless issues that come with home ownership. Honest, reliable and good humored, we can't recommend Gary Forman highly enough. read more

These folks are amazing! I called to see if they could do some scaffolding for an electrical project I have in progress and Gary immediately called me back. He advised that they do not offer scaffolding services apart from their construction projects, but he suggested a colleague who does and could help me out. I have been struggling with a home reno electrical project and just finding a contractor who is helpful and offers advice is a breath of fresh air! You can bet, my next home reno project my first call will be to Gary! You can tell when people are compassionate and professional! read more

Gary Forman is a great general contractor from beginning to end. He was referred to us (my wife and I) by a good friend from high school who hired him as well. Gary is clear with his work schedule and estimates, and there are no surprises as to what needs to be done. His assistant, Hector, is very nice and personable too. Together they make a great team. Gary is very detailed and a great mathematician. We had 2 bathrooms redone, some electrical, and minor deck repair. All in all the job was done in a timely manner. We highly recommend Gary's general contracting company and we'll use him again in the near future. Frank and Patricia del Castillo, Los Angeles. read more

Found G & E Foreman here on Yelp. Glad I did. I need my patio resurfaced and Gary and his crew did the job. Gary came out inspected the space, gave me a reasonable price, gave great suggestions on the paint to use, and we were off. His crew was very thorough, even fixing some damage to the concrete that had been covered up at no extra cost. The filled the cracks and laid down a few coats. The patio looks great! It looks so good I don't want to put anything on it but summer is coming and it's time to grill! Thanks to Gary and his crew for a job well done! read more

Gary Foreman has engineering and design chops, high quality construction and contracting standards, and never fails to be personable and reliable. We have called on him for several jobs, both big and small, in and around our home and have been very happy every time. He replaced our roof, redid our bathrooms, designed and built a beautiful hillside fence, replaced our water heater, and numerous smaller jobs. Always responsive and priced competitively. Highly recommended. read more

Finding a contractor with real integrity and pride of workmanship can sometimes feel like lofty goal, but I think I've found just that in Gary Forman and his crew. I had a small job (smoothing my walls over where the backsplash tile had been removed) but Gary treated it as though he was working on a palace. He took such care to make sure that the finished product was perfect! Even for someone like me (super picky) he surpassed all expectations. The new work is as smooth as melted butter and blends perfectly with the old wall. I almost hate to paint it. I have more work to do in my kitchen and will definitely be calling Gary back when I'm ready. I cannot recommend his services enough. read more

I am excited to leave this review because I finally get to rave on how wonderful a contractor and workman Gary is. He is not only the contractor that knows everything and delegates, he gets his hands dirty. Gary is all about perfection. When you want something done Good and Fast, Gary will give you that. Gary is straight forward and HONEST. He gave us amazing customer service and updated us on all the good and bad that could and will possibly come our way so we could prepare and be on top of everything. He left no stone unturned. I am impressed and satisfied. Oh and the Masonry wall and parking spaces look BEAUTIFUL! I will call him again for future construction. Thanks Gary! read more

This is my second review of Mr. Gary Forman of G & E Construction Company because I felt inspired to write this after another successful project. When I decided it was time to repair my apartment building and three-vehicle carport, I called Mr. Forman. We walked the property and outlined all the termite and water damage to the wood and stucco. Working within my budget, Mr. Forman demo'd, replaced, stuccoed, and repainted. The triplex and garage look amazing now. It looks like new construction. Throughout this project, Mr. Forman remained dedicated to his promise of providing the best in workmanship. When unforeseen situations arose, he always had honest and practical solutions. A special touch is the photographs and video updates you receive almost daily from him. This is invaluable when you cannot be on site often. Mr. Forman stays on task. He arrives early each morning and works late into the evening. He maintains a neat work area, and my tenants were never inconvenienced during all the construction. If you are looking for a trustworthy, knowledgeable, hardworking contractor who consistently delivers, please give Mr. Gary Forman of G & E Construction, 323-377-1932, a call. read more

I hired Gary to rebuild my garage which had many issues going on. He staid within budget, and did the work as requested. He was always here early in the morning, and worked until the sun went down. He kept me informed along the way of issues and progress of the project. He was more expensive than other quotes I received, but it was worth every penny for the quality work. My garage is easily the nicest building on the block now. read more

G & E Forman Construction was not able to help me with my particular needs due to their schedule being booked for my window, but Gary was very nice to take my calls and give me referrals and phone numbers for both scaffolding and painting. read more

An honest contractor - now there's an idea! Gary C. Forman, General Contractor, and his crew recently worked at my place for several weeks. They tore off and replaced 3 stories of rotten exterior siding (living at the beach does have its drawbacks, like high humidity salt air that deteriorates EVERYTHING). Then they put up some (interior) drywall for me and I might hire them to do a slate floor in the same room. Because I know it will be done right, and nothing will be rushed. Gary came highly recommended & now I can see why. He is meticulous. He and his crew even cleaned up entirely at the end of each day, so I would not freak out at any messiness. I lived with scaffolding and sawdust and noise for a long time, and couldn't wait for it all to be over.......but guess what? I miss my guys! We had so much fun clowning around. These are good guys who do a good job at a very fair price and stand behind their work. Oh, and they were careful not to let the cat run out, and they loved my artwork. Here's some examples of the work Gary does: additions, bathrooms, decks, driveways, exterior stucco, interior plastering, kitchens, interior & exterior painting, patios, retrofitting/seismic rehab, roofs, new construction. Whew, no wonder they look physically fit. Eva, Gary's wife, manages the paperwork for the business. A very nice lady, who is also a licensed realtor. read more

Gary Forman is quality and customer service at its best. We recently suffered damages to our master bedroom from a bad roof leak, and while the job seemed daunting (to say the least), it didn't take long to feel like we were in the most capable hands with Gary. From day one, not only did he understand the damage and repairs needed, he had a genuine appreciation for our 1920's home, which was reflected in his efforts to salvage as many original features as possible (moldings, window framings, etc.) He was very communicative the whole way, making sure we were aware of the process and sending text/picture updates at every step. He had an honest approach to solving issues with our house--never cutting corners, using low-quality materials, or settling for anything less that excellent from himself or his team. Gary showed up on time and worked tirelessly to get the job done. You could really tell how much this man loves his job--a very rare quality to find in contractors these days. If you want superb craftsmanship with an attention to detail, then Gary Forman is your guy. Even though our roof leak was one of the worst experiences we've had in our home, Gary Forman was one of the best experiences our home has ever had. The house and we are extremely grateful. read more

There are very few people in the business who are as integral, and reliable as Gary and his company. I had the good fortune of utilizing G&E Forman construction services to refurbish two decks/railings at my house and replace a window that was 3 stories off the ground level. Although, the work timeline was hampered by inclement weather and took much longer to complete, the work that was ultimately delivered was meticulous. Gary was very good at explaining what had to be done, correcting any less-than-optimal work that had been done by previous contractors, and gave me full confidence that the work was being done without cutting corners to get to the finish line. Gary actually did most of the work himself!!! He is also extremely good in his communication and I appreciated his short and regular emails that gave me updates on progress as I was traveling a lot on business at the time. The only reason I have not given a full 5-star is more to do with the cost of the project. Had I perhaps known that upfront, I may have chosen to reconstruct the whole deck as opposed to fixing it. However, one really can't blame Gary for this though, as he (and perhaps anyone else in his shoes) indicated that he could only give his bid based on what was visible and that once he got into the work - he would let me know what he discovered - with the intent of making the fixes permanent and not glossing over it. Still it was a bit of a sticker shock when the project was finally completed. Would I work with Gary again?? - a 100% YES (may be I'll do a better job budgeting renovations). read more

WOW!!! Ok, this guy really is as good as it gets and beyond! After an experience last year that left me skeptical of all contractors... Gary Forman has renewed my faith in humanity. Gary and his team of professional painters went above and beyond to "do the job right." Our house needed a paint job. Old paint was peeling, some wood was rotting... Gary and his team were professional, meticulous, fair, stuck to estimates, friendly, honest and collaborative. And, plus Gary has great taste! All of his suggestions were solid and beautiful. In a day, age and town where most take your money perfectly and imperfectly do the job... I recommend G & E Forman Construction wholeheartedly. read more
