Today was Heat level 2 and I was graciously reminded by my heart and lungs that this is a practice and I have much to learn. Facts as I see them about this studio (Cedar Rapids): -The Teachers love what they do! -The fragrances or aromatherapy that are utilized in this studio are subtle which is a nice touch without being overwhelming. -The heat disbursement in the studio is very even. I've been in studios where that is not the case. I feel like every spot is a good one! -The Sanitation is great and there are ample spray bottles. My Inner GI Jane was handed to me today, and for that I'm thankful. I come to my yoga mat to learn how to balance my life, my body, and my spirit. I'm thankful for Heat Yoga as I continue in my practice.

I didn't feel like I was being called out when I was being corrected. I didn't feel like the movements were too difficult for my skill level (which is more of a beginner, closer to intermediate I'd say), and there were a variety of options for all skill levels so that you didn't feel left out. This class wasn't incredibly serious, but it was more laidback and fun. That is also something I really enjoy because I feel less stressed/anxious. If anything, the smiles and laughter kept me interested and made me feel like I've been going there for ages. If you want to go out and try something new without the feeling of judgement then I highly recommend! Plus you get to work out while having fun! Sounds like a win/win to me. Check out their class schedule and what they offer! Their point system is different from other memberships, and it's pretty cool. So definitely look into how that works!

I started coming to Rivercity Pilates after being diagnosed with arthritis in my back. If you read…read moreup on arthritis you will find that exercise is crucial! I was worried that I was already beyond the point of help and wouldn't be able to handle the workouts. Was I ever wrong! Carey and her instructors are EXCELLENT. They are trained and certified to make modifications when necessary to help you keep the proper form & alignment to protect you from injury. I like the variety of clients at this studio ... male/female, young/old, fit/not so fit ... and the classes easily accommodate experienced and novice side by side. I love the variety of classes and each instructor has his/her own style so you may want to try several classes to find the right fit. The classes are reasonably priced and you can schedule online or with their mobile app ... very convenient! I like to participate in the many studio "challenges" they offer because it helps me stay engaged and there are great prizes! After 4 years, pilates has made such a positive impact on my health that I don't think of it as exercise any more ... it is a lifestyle. I'm hooked! Thanks Rivercity Pilates!

Before Serenity I had a reoccurring pattern of exercising and getting hurt then being off exercise to recover only to start the cycle again. Marcie understands the human body but more importantly she understands MY human body. She can individualize my workouts based on how I feel each session and she has accurately described my needs to all the staff. I am reassured everyone in the studio is aware of my body's needs. I also do classes at the studio. Mat pilates with Mary has proved to be very effective for core strength. Gentle yoga with John is a very calm wind down from a busy day and a great "date night" activity for couples. I recommend this studio to all of my friends that want to avoid unnecessary injuries, develop strength. In addition to workouts that strengthen and protect each client there is a sense of community and belonging every time I enter the studio.

I can say that this IC location is top notch. Maureen and her staff are freaking delightful and the workout itself is addictively not like anything else around town. PLUS, parking is a non-issue. But I don't actually have set in stone time to make it to a gym. (The minute I plan on a 5AM workout is the night my son is in my bed because of a bad dream. So when I attempt to stealthily get out, I of course wake him. And I can't just leave the four year old awake at home?! And how rude would I be to wake up anyone else catching z's?!) Ugh. It's a never ending, maddening problem. ANYWAYS, barre3 has an amazing online membership for a great price! The first two weeks are free. But what I like most is that the classes range from 10 to 60 minutes. They include what equipment you need in the description. I found favorite instructors and have taken all of their classes (multiple time)! Barre3 makes me feel good about myself. And the staff at this location does, too.
