We've been going to Fusion Dental for a number of years and love it! Dr. Doyle is FANTASTIC and the entire team is great. Recently, my daughter needed extensive work done and they helped us booking an anesthesiologist and the entire experiece couldn't have been better. We love Shawn and Javier was awesome as the dental assistant duo and Sarosh at the front office could not have been more helpful! They've moved locations since then, but when I moved back to the area and needed a dentist, they were the first place I thought of. I've been going to Fusion Dental in Reston for a while now, and every experience has been amazing. Dr. Yacoub took care of my cavities and cleaning, she's super sweet, professional, and really makes you feel comfortable. Her assistant, Donovan, was amazing, he is super quick, friendly and efficient, which made the whole process so smooth. About a month ago, I had all my wisdom teeth removed with Dr. Patel. I was nervous, but the staff kept me calm the whole time. The surgery went so well, and my recovery was way easier than I expected. Within less than a week, I felt completely back to normal. Honestly, getting them removed was one of the best things I've done for my dental health. Everyone there is professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. Dentist was tip top but the billing and front staff is terrible. Lied from start to finish on what procedure they were billing my Insurance and the codes I got from them to make sure my insurance would cover wasn't the final codes done so now I'm stuck with a $800 bill for what I thought was a deep cleaning. Avoid this place and my advice to the dentist is find better staff cause the current staff is bringing you down. Terrible. read more

I went to Fusion Dental because my bf had a good experience with them. I had an awful experience! My cleaning was rough. During my main appt, I had to have a tooth pulled. I asked for gas because I'm very sensitive and have major anxiety. They forgot to give me the gas, yet continued to try to charge me for it. I asked for them to send notes to my insurance so the insurance might pay more.. nope. I sent emails asking for my itemized bill.. no response.. but they had no trouble contacting asking for a payment! My bill was almost double the estimate. If you are going to go here, know what your benefits are and be prepared to contact the office often because they don't respond to emails and they won't remember to call you back. read more

My family has had a very negative experience at this dentist. They made mistakes with insurance billing that have costed my family thousands of dollars. I've had to negotiate with the insurance company, who could fix things if Fusion Dental would contact them. Dr. Katmeh is very knowledgeable and amazing at his job as a specialist! Enter the calming zone of Agim and Dr. Tofigh. The synergy between the two is incredible. Dr. Tofigh is a true artist. He fixed my broken veneer and did an amazing job building my teeth up and closing my gap. He is also very gentle with the numbing needle, highly recommend Fusion to anyone nervous about dental work. Agree 100% with folks about dentists being top notch but billing is a nightmare. Keep billing my wife and I together even though we have different dental insurance and I have asked to have our accounts separated. Makes it very hard to see who owes what. I wouldn't recommend this dental practice to anyone. They charged me for something that my insurance covered, a majority of the front office staff was rude, and the manager has ignored all of my calls and requests to talk to him. The people who I spoke to in the front office cut me off while I was talking and spoke unprofessionally. On top of it, I specifically requested and scheduled an appointment with one doctor there for medical concerns and was seen by another. This is the most unprofessional practice I have ever been to. read more

I am perfectly fine with the dental treatment from the doctors. However, the front office service is really horrible. They have two different system (Monthly generated bills and front office POS system) are not matching together. No one can answer my questions regarding bills, but they threatened me to pay the remaining balance; otherwise, they will send the remaining balance to the credit report without any understandings on both parties. Patients, be aware and make sure if Fusion dental of Reston claimed all the insurance costs and make sure the remaining balance is clearly matched what they provided first on 'Treatment Plan.' From my experience, they charged bills on me if they didn't receive insurance payment. I was sick of dealing with this, so I gave up on my long-term family dental care service and moved to other dental office. read more

The front office of the Reston practice is horrible. I sent in my x-rays ahead of my consultation appointment along with all necessary paperwork. The support staff called me to try to reschedule my appointment two times. Once I was finally in my appointment they tried to convince me they didn't have my x-rays and they wanted me to take new ones. I declined and magically my x-rays showed up. Once my consultation was over they didn't have any available appointments for a cleaning for 2 months. 1 week before my cleaning they called to reschedule. I have had it with this office. My husband has had billing issues with them from his first cleaning as well. Go to another dentist. read more

I have been going to Fusion Dental in Reston for over 10 years. Dr Doyle has been a great dentist. I have unfortunately purchased many thousands of dollars worth of crowns there. A previous hygienist Elizabeth was also top notch, gentle but thorough. However, and this is a big however, Fusion Dental as an organization does not seem capable of providing quality patient services. I had a routine cleaning and X-rays where a new hygienist turned out to not be recognized by my insurance. What followed was a comical back and forth where my insurance would deny the claim, I would ask Fusion to re-file it and they would act like it was no big deal but a month later my insurance would deny it again for the same reason. This happened at least 5 times. Now, I'm not a fan or supporter of the insurance system in the US but what got to me about the situation was how inhumane the whole process was from the Fusion side. None of the staff seemed to be able to help with the situation or even explain what was wrong. I ended up paying the balance in cash out of frustration but some computer somewhere is still sending me $0 bills that are "overdue". What I realized is that the whole practice seems to be affiliated with or owned by a company called "Heartland Dental" which essentially outsources entire dental offices soup to nuts. I understand why a dentist wouldn't want to deal with the business side of operating an office but this organization seems to be much like other outsourcing companies which take the human element entirely out of a business and rely on a rotating staff of barely paid and overstressed workers along with too much automation to provide a terrible quality of service. Heartland itself is majority owned by a private equity firm which goes a long way in explaining the poor quality and the focus on profits and cost cutting over employee/customer happiness. If you noticed the quality of Fusion Dental crater in 2018 you won't be surprised that's when the PE firm took majority ownership. As a final note they recently introduced online billing which you'd think would be great. However, they didn't bother telling me so I got what seemed to be a phishing email demanding money and asking for my name and date of birth with no way of verifying it was legitimate. Even the staff in the office weren't sure if it was legitimate. I would not recommend Fusion Dental for the reasons above and will not be returning. read more

The care at this location will not ever be enough to make dealing with the support staff worth it. I am owed a refund of over $150. I called back in May to ask questions about charges, and learned I should be getting a refund. The person in the billing department seemed nice enough on the phone, but had to "look into something" and left me on hold long enough that the system eventually hung up on me. I called back and was put on hold by the same guy before being able to identify that I had been hung up on. I again was on hold so long that the system hung up on me a second time. I called back two other times and rather than connecting to billing got regular office staff. I spoke to two separate people, and asked each to speak to a manager. Both said someone would call me back. No one ever did. When calling back at a later date I found out the refund check had not been issued, and that it takes 6 weeks to get it. After waiting well over 6 weeks I called again, one week ago. After having to insist on speaking to a manager, on my second call of the day I managed to. He was fairly patronizing and hostile at the beginning of the call, but improved as the call went on. He said the check had been sent out three months before (at a time when staff had previously acknowledged it had not gone out). We never received the check. He said he would look into it, and get back to me either later that evening or the following day. Needless to say, it is one week later and I never received a call from him. My husband also got a bill that made no sense, that said we owe money when we don't. When I brought that up on the same call (with staff, not the supervisor) last week, they simply said to ignore the bill. This seems like really problematic practice. What if we had paid it?!? I'm sure that is a refund we also never would have gotten. This is beyond frustrating. It is enough for me to change practices. read more

Overall, I've had a good experience with Fusion Dental in Reston, but I'm not going back. A few months ago, I called to ask about staff's vaccination status. i was told all the technicians were vaxxed, but not all of the receptionists. I called again today to ask if staff are fully vaxxed (December 2021, with omicron looming), and was told they don't disclose that information. I called another dental practice and asked the same question, and was told, "Of course!" In other words, they understand the concept of PATIENT CARE and Fusion Dental doesn't. When I'm in the chair with my mouth open for 30 minutes or more, I want everyone around me vaccinated. (Unfortunately, I won't know the status of the patient next to me, but I'll hope for the best.) read more

I had done a crown recently at this office and even though I really like the doctor, the crown itself is awful. It is made by a new lab this company is using, and it's like a piece of plastic in my mouth. The previous two crowns I had done with them were great, but recently their quality of work degraded drastically. Also I had to wait over a month to get it done, and a temporary crown that had issues and replaced two times. I don't think I'll go to this practice anymore. The dental work is 10/10, the administrative staff on the other hand is awful. I have been dealing with being overcharged since May, it is now September. I have spent approximately 6 hours in the lobby of the office trying to get my bill worked out. It's a shame because the dentists and oral surgeons themselves are great but the complications that come with paying to go here are just not worth it for me and my family. I will start off by saying that my dental treatment by the dentists and dental hygienists have been excellent. However, like many others have commented about this office; the billing and insurance accounting is terrible. This is now my second visit to the Reston office where I have received unexplained charges. In the latest instance my bill from Fusion Dental stated that my insurance claim was denied by my insurance provider but after contacting my insurance company they were able to show me the EOB stating that they paid the dental office for the services I received. I contacted Fusion Dental to discuss the discrepancy and there was no action taken and no response. I did not want to write this review because of the nice people at Fusion Dental but failing to properly handle insurance and accounting in a dental office is totally unprofessional and wastes patient's time and money. read more

I would recommend avoiding this dentist practice at ALL cost. Having been a patient at the Fusion group (Ashburn and Reston) for about 15 years, the administrative and billing office have always been less than great. However, my recent experience with them has been horrendous. My husband had a procedure done back in March and we were billed an extreme amount for what we thought was not going to cost much more than a simple copay. We let the bill sit for a couple of months, thinking that it just hadn't been fully processed by insurance. After a few months, when the bill kept coming, I called my insurance to find out what exactly we were being charged for. They let me know that the doctor who did the procedure on my husband at the Reston location, wasn't covered as "in network" at Reston until 4 days after his procedure (the doctor was transferring from the Ashburn location to Reston at the time). They also told me that insurance only covered 2 of the 4 quadrants of the procedure per day. Having been with Fusion for over 15 years, we had previously always received a print-out of estimated costs for any procedure ahead of time to be able to make the best financial decisions. This time, we did not receive any notice of the 4 quadrants not being covered. I began discussing this issue with the Fusion office at the beginning of August. Now, two and a half months later, this issue is still not resolved. The number of hours I have spent on the phone and on hold, having to explain and explain the situation over and over again, is incredible. There is no direct way to contact the billing department, so I have had to call reception, then wait for a call back for anywhere from a few days to a week or two in order to speak to anyone. One billing employee gave me a potential solution in the beginning of September of deleting our previous two bills from that service date and refiling the bill with a different dentist's name on it and only for the two quadrants. However, he did not follow up on his promised action. Also, slapping on a different dentist's name on the bill is absolutely fraudulent and the office is trying to cover their huge mistakes while still grabbing as much money as possible. I've been going to Fusion Dental for many years (10+), and have found the dentists and hygienists to be competent and friendly. I haven't had any issues with billing and administration. What has become a problem is the chronic upselling and revenue generating pressure they are always putting on a patient. Its like the company is owned by a private equity group, not dentists...wait, they are! Today I went for my periodic cleaning, and they insisted I get an Xray (which they recommend everytime, and I decline). I declined again, and they stated the dentist would not see me because 'xrays are on his license'. A more literal translation is probably 'because he is under pressure to sell more.' They even declined to clean my teeth...I guess you need an xray to do that. I wont' be going back. Nor should you unless you like getting harangued to buy unnecessary fluoride treatments, teeth whitening, replacing perfectly good fillings, etc. read more

Although the dentists and hygienists are very professional, I won't return to Fusion Dental due to their horrendous administrative policies. I'm outraged that they overcharge Delta Delta PPO insurance periodontal patients by insisting on using a code that their general dentists use: D0120 for periodic exams instead of code D0180 for new and established periodontal patients on a once a year basis. I'm filing a grievance with Delta Dental because I'm arbitrarily being denied a benefit for a perio exam that the insurance company permits once a year for new and established patients. Instead, Fusion Dental staff have insisted that their policy is to only use the code for new patients and deny established patients. I recently reviewed Fusion Dental, but I have to comment on yet another horrible experience with them. I called seven weeks ago to request that the credit balance (over $1,000) on my account be refunded to me. To date, I have not received that check. When I called to inquire what was holding up my payment, "Renee" stated that I had a claim outstanding with my insurance company from May 11, 2022 - IT IS NOW AUGUST 2022! She stated that the insurance company "is not taking calls from providers" and that I would need to call them myself to inquire about the outstanding claim. I called my provider and they stated that the claim was processed on May 13, the payment was mailed on May 19, and the check was cashed by Fusion Dental on May 25. So, in addition to crappy dental services, their business office is incompetent and not able to correctly process insurance payments to the correct patient account. I am now looking for another provider and will be switching dentists immediately. After being a patient there for 25 years, I can no longer tolerate Fusion's management of this dental practice. This is a real shame because before Fusion Dental took over this practice, the previous Reston Dental office was an outstanding provider. The corporate policies and management practices of Fusion Dental are just HORRIBLE. I would never recommend this practice to anyone. read more

I have been going to Dental Fusion for many years, but when I went for my appointment today, the offices were closed, with no notice posted. Another woman was also waiting and searching for information, and had heard that they moved. We were sent reminders about our appointments, but had not been told the location was changed. I tried to call and after several unsuccessful attempts my call was answered and they gave me the new address. When I found the new location, I was told they would not see me because I was 15 minutes late. I wish I had read all the negative reviews before going to this practice. They charge almost double what my other dentist in Reston was charging. As a new patient, they insisted that I make two separate appointments each for myself and my two children: one for an exam and one for a cleaning. In all my years, I have never had to make two separate appointments for something that easily could've been done in one appointment. It is a complete money-maker. This way they charged us an extra $20 per visit for an "unspecified preventive procedure" (aka: Covid mark-up fee). As a new patient, I told the hygienist that I had gum surgery 18 years ago. When I went to check out, I was told I needed to pay $64. I asked why since my insurance has always covered my cleaning 100%. They said it was for periodontal maintenance. Like a fool, I paid it instead of questioning it further. Then a few weeks later my explanation of benefits arrived in the mail. Fusion charged me another $200 for perio-mainentance which my insurance denied. $264 for something I never asked for, authorized, or even was told I was getting! My cleaning was the same as it always was....I noticed no difference with this "perio" charge. When I called to complain, I was given someone's email. It took several days and two emails to get someone to respond to me. I was told this was a routine procedure and they would appeal it with my insurance company. I don't want it appealed, I want it removed! It was a bogus charge. But she ignored all of my other concerns and complaints. It took over a week and numerous emails just to get someone to email me my xrays. I would avoid this practice in Reston. I was a long term patient at Reston Dental Arts. I never had any complaints. I moved from the area and saw other dentists. I moved back to the area and returned to Reston Fusion Dental. In November 2014 I needed some expensive work. The office manager Diane insisted on full payments and than directed the insurance payments to the dentist practice. I asked about the overpayment and when I would receive it. Diane told me " we review the insurance payment overages a couple of times a year and than send ou the overpayments to the patient". That was the last straw. I informed the Diane I would not be coming back to Reston Fusion Dental. I asked for a final statement, a dental impression that had just been done, xrays and the money owed me. It took many phone calls to finally receive a check for $29 at the end of March. No final statement, no impression, no xray. I have contacted The Better Business Bureau. There has been no response from Reston Fusion Dental. It is to late to use the xrays or the dental impression. I had a terrible experience with Dr. Brian Lee (orthodontist). I began treatment, full braces top and bottom, which I was told would take 10-12 months. About 6 months in my teeth and bite were actually worsening. Each visit I would express my concerns to Dr. Lee and he would assure me that everything was going as planned. 10 months in, when none of my teeth met and I could not chew food anymore, I got a little more forceful in demanding him to fix the problem. Long story short, at 12 months I saw two other orthos for an evaluation. Both told me my teeth and bite were a mess and could not believe I had been in braces for a year. I had Dr. Lee remove my braces and I started treatment with another ortho. It took another 12 months to undue what Dr. Lee did and I spent another 1 1/2 years in braces for a grand total of 3 years 6 mos! It also cost me another $5000. I am 54 y.o. I have spoken to others that had similar concerns and results as a patient with Dr. Lee. I was told they would refund half of my money ($2500) which they never did. I now have to take them to small claims to recoup some of my money!!! read more

Everyone is friendly and more importantly you have confidence that the staff is experienced and competent. Have you ever gone to a dentist and for whatever reason think, "holy crap this doctor doesn't know what the hell he/she is doing, get me the F outta here!"? Well I have and I definitely didn't get that vibe here. Dr. Wilson and his hygienist handled my regular check up, Xrays, and cleaning. The Xrays showed two wisdom teeth that needed pulling so I conveniently made an appointment for the oral surgeon located downstairs - Dr. Little. He's one of the most animated and hilarious dentists you'll ever meet. A few days before the surgery Dr. Little met with me to go over every detail of the procedure and answered all my questions. At the day of the surgery the staff was upbeat and they do everything to make you feel comfortable. Not that I cared much since I was soon to be knocked out. Surgery went well but I did end up having an infection so the doc prescribed a stronger antibiotic and after about a week, I was all good. Btw - make sure to check with the insurance on how much you should pay out of pocket (something you should do with every dentist office). I was charged an extra $200 which they're obviously are refunding. It would've got refunded even if I didn't call. Why did they overcharge in the first place? Who the hell knows... read more

Avoid! While their dental care is good, their administration and billing is horrendous. They told us a procedure was covered by insurance, we went ahead and had it done, and afterwards they told us it was not. And then they stuck us with the bill for this procedure. For two years they kept billing us, and we kept calling and were always told that it was their mistake and that we did not have to pay the bill for the procedure. Out of the blue we get a notice from a collection agency that we need to pay the bill, and an unfavorable report went on our credit reports. They made promises to have various VP's and directors call us, which never happened. In the end, their incompetence and inability to document things THEY said and lie to us throughout has tanked our credit rating and now we have to fight a collection agency to prove to them that Fusion is incompetent. While their dentists may be good, it's not worth it to have to deal with the outright incompetence from their administration. There are plenty of great dentists in this area. I strongly recommend you find one that doesn't have multiple and repeated reports from customers of how awful their admin is. Just don't. Find another dentist. You'll be happier, trust me. read more

Pediatric Review: I have to sit down and write this because now that I have had a second opinion and experience, the differences are astonishing. Also, I now have the word of 3 other mothers who have switched to a new pediatric dentist for similar reasons. Doctor Fernandez is competent (hence the 2 stars), but to me she has been condescending, extreme about what she expects my kids to be doing for their hygiene, and I have felt downright bullied and made to feel like a neglectful mother for not agreeing to her treatment plan. After a fixed cavity at the new place, where my child was not "traumatized for life" like had been suggested by Dr. Fernandez if we chose to use a less expensive/invasive treatment plan, I realized the blessing of switching! Dr. Lee, the Ped Ortho, is wonderful. I have also been fine with the adult care I have received. I don't enjoy writing a negative review. But I just want to have the backs of all the other parents out there trying just as hard as I to be a sensible, good parent. Our family were patients at Reston Dental Arts for years, since the mid-eighties...left around 2007/8 or so. We left for one reason and one reason only: Dr. Little. Don't have anything nice to say about that man and as i said we up and left the practice because of him. He's fake, he's phony,, has his little spiel down pat, does it over and over day in day out, he takes advantage of insurance companies with his billing codes et-cetera, he takes advantage of clients...he provides an estimate for his service and has no intention of honoring it....can't stand the man...it's a small world and i've learned i'm not alone in my opinion of him. I can't praise Fusion Dental enough. Yes it's a bit "assembly line" in that the dental chairs are not in separate rooms, but rather separated by cubicle-like dividers. It's a more socialized version of dentistry, similar to Kaiser's facility but better. If you're uncomfortable in the dentist's chair, they have relaxing photographs of natural settings mounted on the ceiling. They do cleanings until 7 pm during the week, which is great for us cubicle slaves! Try to get Dr. Forsbergh if you can - he is popular and you may have to wait a few weeks for an appointment but if it's just a cleaning or filling, it's worth the wait. He's great. And Dr. Little - the oral surgeon - is an absolute trip. Think wisdom teeth extraction while the Red Hot Chili Peppers are playing on the boombox. I will miss seeing my past dentist in DC but alas, the traffic has become so bad that venturing from Reston to DC may as well be going from Reston to New York City. read more

I must admit that everything seems to have changed once they became Fusion Dental. I ended up with a rude hygenist. The administration staff is incredibly rude and incompetent. They do not return phone calls, do not call to remind you about appointments, and frequently mess up billings. The only consistently good thing about this place is Dr. Little, the oral surgeon. He and his team are amazing. I will never be going back to this place, unless I need to have some more oral surgery done. read more
