Came here for dinner with a friend. The interior is very nice and they have a hallway with pillars that replicates the look I have seen in Japan. I got the teriyaki chicken which came with grilled chicken, veggies, mashed potatoes and teriyaki sauce on the side. For a 3 course dinner, it was $60. Perfect for me to try out the restaurant. Yellowtail jalapeno - delicious and light with a hint of spice. Spice level varies depending on the jalepeno piece I got. I enjoyed every bite. Miso Cod - I love cod but this dish was too sweet for my liking. I never sent it back because that's on me and my tastebud. Nothing wrong with the chef. Presentation was lovely. I tried to eat as much as I could but I just couldn't anymore. Chilean Sea Bass - definitely highly recommend! Food was alright, I felt the Salmon wasn't very fresh, yet I ate it anyways. My family said the food was fine, they weren't too impressed either but nobody was against it. The dessert was good, however it depends on what you get; for example, we ordered a few of the Mochi flavors, all equally disgusting, however the regular ice cream was phenomenal! My highlight of the night was their vanilla & chocolate. Service was pretty solid, not much commentary or feedback for them, nothing was bad, yet nothing stood out. I found myself at Fushimi the other night for an educational dinner. Not only did the event catch my eye for the learning aspect, but also because these dinners are almost always at steakhouses - so a Japanese spot was a welcome reprieve. That being said, I was looking forward to checking this place out. Fushimi markets itself as a Japanese fusion spot, and in addition to this location off Times Square they have others in Brooklyn and Staten Island. The interior is gorgeous and super stylish - it was definitely giving off Asian vibes and was somewhat extra without being tacky. The space was also much larger than I anticipated; we were seated in a private room which had ample room for us. I also want to shout out the bathrooms because they were super clean and smelled fresh - so rare to find. As with most educational dinners, there was a prix fixe menu - I was given a few choices if starters, apps, mains, and desserts. I decided to start with the seafood bisque and the tuna crostini. These were both quite tasty - the soup was creamy without being heavy and had a good amount of seafood in it. The crostini had great flavor, especially with the mild wasabi-esque sauce that sat underneath the tuna. For my main I chose the mixed sushi and sashimi dish - this contained a variety of sushi types; each of them were super fresh. Even the California roll which is kinda basic was really good. To finish off the meal, I had creme brûlée; again, this was very good and just the right size. Service was great - we were taken care of promptly and everything came out at a good pace. Overall, I was really impressed with Fushimi - I'm usually left kinda blah with the food experiences at educational dinners, but I would definitely consider coming back for a regular meal here. read more

Fushimi is a sexy little restaurant. My family and I recently visited New York, and I have to say this was my favorite dining experience during the whole trip. The restaurant is modern chic, and all I can remember is the sexy red entrance into the restaurant (they had me at entrance). We ordered their sushi/ sashimi platter and ribeye to share. Wow. Attended an event here in one of the private rooms. They're not really rooms but more like a giant space that has wall dividers. The walls aren't very insulated so if next door is speaking, it can be heard through the walls. The staff assigned to our room were very attentive in asking for drink orders and refilling my water and hot green tea. Once the food service started, everything came out at a good pace. There was enough time to eat each dish before they cleared it for the next one. Fushimi salad- the lettuce (romaine and baby) were very clean, fresh and crisp. Julienned carrots added a nice tanginess to the salad. The ginger dressing wasn't too heavy on the ginger. Braised short rib- came with fingerling potatoes, mushrooms, small green (maybe shishito because it wasn't spicy) pepper and galbi sauce. This short rib was so delicious it could stand on it's own as an entree. The meat was fall apart tender and the sauce it came with was the perfect compliment to the already flavorful short rib. I would get seconds of this dish. Lobster roll- small pieces of lobster meat on top of the roll and in the middle. A basic sushi roll. Lobster shrimp medallion- I had thought this would be something reminiscent of a crab cake but it really blew my expectations away. It was half a mini lobster on top of a bed of broccoli, sweet corn, sugar snap peas and Yukon potatoes topped with micro greens. The lobster was coated in a buttery sauce that really brought out the lobster flavor. There were also a few peeled shrimps that tasted very fresh. Mochi tasting- passion fruit was sour. Red bean was sweet. Didn't really care for the chocolate. The mochi skin could've been softer. A great way to end an amazing meal! read more

I found Fushimi through the Upside app for some cash back and decided to try it since it was near the Imperial Theatre, where we were headed for a Broadway show. The happy hour menu looked promising online, but once we got there, we found out you had to sit at the bar to access it and the prices weren't any different from the regular menu anyway. We ordered the truffle fries, spicy edamame, and a special roll called Sunset Boulevard. Honestly, everything was underwhelming and felt overpriced for the quality. This place is very good if you want above average Japanese food in the Times Square area. The location is close to major theaters and it's also not terrible from a commuting and parking POV. The sushi here was excellent and the options were very good. The beef teriyaki and chicken was also very good. Generally speaking the food all around was solid and the ambiance was nice, albeit on the darker side. The service was good and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. My only thing is these guys send you a lot of emails (which end up in my spam folder, but still). Might want to go easy on those email blasts to former guests but beyond that the food is definitely one of the better ones in the area. We came for dinner before seeing an 8pm show and the staff proactively asked if we were seeing a show so they could make sure we got our food in time which was so thoughtful! The food and drinks were delicious and the fish was very fresh. We started with the yellowtail jalapeño, the fish was sliced pretty thin but it was good. We also had the sunset boulevard roll, sex on the beach, out of control (no asparagus), and eel avocado roll. Everything was tasty but the out of control was my favorite. The eel avocado didn't have much eel in it, I probably could've gone without it. I also had a spicy tuna hand roll and my friend had kani salad which was a very large portion. For drinks, I had av star and citrus tini which were very sweet. My friend had the lychee martini and said the same. We both enjoyed the drinks but would've preferred a bit more liquor in the drink. The restaurant itself is huge and has plenty of seats and even a large bar area with an open space for an event. Definitely recommend, especially if you're seeing a show nearby! read more

Making a reservation online for two was easy and hassle-free. There was a time when finding a good restaurant in this part of the city was a challenge, but Fushimi has certainly changed that. The menu offers a big selection of sushi and sashimi, as well as hot appetizers, raw bar, soups and salads. Additionally offered are Asian fusion kitchen entrées, plus caviar. We started with the rock shrimp tempura, labeled as a "spicy dish," though thankfully it wasn't too hot. The shrimp were crisp and flavorful in a light, golden batter--served in an elegant bowl and perfect for sharing. Next up was the scallop tartare over crispy rice, topped with a thin slice of truffle. Unlike the usual thick square of rice you find with this kind of dish, Fushimi's version used a thin, round crisp that really allowed the delicate scallop and earthy truffle to shine. I loved this creative take. For our main courses, we had the chef's sushi special--10 pieces of bed's choice nigiri beautifully arranged. When the server poured a liquid into the center of the plate, a dramatic cloud of smoke billowed up, turning the dish into a photo-worthy spectacle. The other entrée, tuna served four ways, was equally impressive: sashimi, tartare, nigiri, and spicy tuna rolls, all artistically presented. Each preparation was fresh and flavorful, but the smoky tuna tartare stood out as my personal favorite. Adding to the experience, an in-house photographer made the rounds, offering to take guests' photos. We agreed, only to find out later the framed prints were being sold for $20 each. It's a nice touch for those who want a keepsake, but we passed. Having worked in the hospitality industry and stayed at the Westin Times Square frequently, I only wish Fushimi had been around back then--I would've been a regular. Came here for a romantic solo Sunday dinner. I got dressed really nicely, put on some nice clothes & shoes and the ambiance did not disappoint! The atmosphere was really hushed and quiet which I'm attributing to it being a Sunday night. I was greeted by a nice hostess who walked me to my table and told me my server would be with me soon. This location is not as "festive" nor has the grandiose lighting like their Williamsburg location (IYKYK) which I'm sure was on purpose. This location offers a completely different vibe. The sushi was good. Nothing to complain about nor write home about. The food is just a lightly scaled up local sushi spot with much better aesthetics. I would definitely return to this establishment but i would go to the Williamsburg location and since there is much more to do in that area, i could have far better options to make a night of than being in Times Square. Rated 8 out of 10; priced at $25 Seared scallops consisted of shio kombu miso cream sauce, royal assetra caviar, ikura, mullet lemon jam. 10 out of 10; this appetizer went by so fast within seconds of hitting the table. Lol. Priced at $25 Rock tempura shrimp served with spicy aioli. It was deep fried. Rated 7 out of 10. Priced at $17 Fried calamari served with Yuzu cream; rated 8 out of 10. The second way was charcoal grilled lobster with lemon butter sauce. They were delicious! 10 out of 10. Priced at $58. Dessert: We had the Fushimi platter; it was a tasting dessert platter. Came out very beautifully displayed, they were tasty but I did not recall the names of the desserts. Priced at $38. Very great price for all the desserts. We also had a bottle of wine for the table and I don't remember the brand either lol.. What I really like was that they had a photographer to capture our moments. She would take pictures of us and print it out on the spot. She also has frames for the pictures. I believe it was $20 a picture. We got two picture frames. Very good quality photos. We were a walk in group of three after a hot hot hot day of riding the Top Tour bus and walking. It was god awful hot. We wanted some good sushi and chicken teriyaki and spicy peanut sauce garnish over fried broccoli pieces. We drank lots of ice water and I drank two Makers and Coke. The restaurant was cool comforting and a little dark to make us feel cooled. The sushi rolls we got were delicious. We finished with the American Roll. Very good! Staff kept the ice water in our glasses filled. Great experience. We walked in at 4:30pm so we were ushered right in. No reservation required. Later diner dates would probably be best to have a reservation. Staff was very attentive.
