Fusek's is a great little neighborhood hardware store. Good deals and even happy hour pricing throughout the week. They generally have most small items you might need but are limited in quantity because of the size of their building. You're not going to find things like large building materials or heavy tool rental. But if you need small tools, paint, hardware, basic electrical and plumbing, patio/outdoor, and other misc items they have you covered. This is a very nice mom and pop hardware store. It has all your basic hardware needs such as paint, brushes, extension, cords, locks, keys, cleaning materials... It does not have wood though. The store has a large private parking lot and is decent sized, but small compared to the larger chain hardware stores. This is a very convenient hardware store for those that live and/or work downtown. I would not find it practical to drive into town just to come here unless you were boycotting large chain hardware joints. I was down town and need to do some painting when I got home and stopped in here and got some paint and painting supplies and did not miss a beat. The staff there was friendly and helpful, like they always are. The store is very clean and you can find some deals here. They even have what they call hardware happy hour every weekday from 4 to 6 where you get 10% off. Additionally, if you know what you want then you can place your order online and have it ready for you when you get there. I love fuseks- they have tons of stuff. They may not have the largest variety (since they're fairly small compared to the big shops) but you can find almost everything you're looking for. They always have great seasonal options as well. There is a special offer for Yelp users, if you check in while at the store. They have a student discount. Just an update to reiterate how much I love this downtown hardware store. They're incredibly friendly and helpful and lack a decent amount of inventory in a smaller space. On a recent visit I was able to stock up on canning jars and a door sweep for our front door. They not only have a great yelp check in deal available but price match Amazon. Price match or not, we always choose to go here first thanks to their friendliness and the convenience of it being right down the street from our home. Unlike most big box hardware stores, this True Value is part of an existing building. The good news is that it is convenient for downtown residents and visitors who need to find something that they just don't find elsewhere. The bad news is that they are limited in space, so the aisles are narrower and the stacks of inventory aren't as high. This place does have a paint department as well as most of the items you would shop for at a hardware store. I was looking for a smaller watering can than the one I have. I was able to find them in three sizes at reasonable prices, so I gladly made my purchase. Another benefit of having a smaller store is that if you have any questions, it isn't hard to find someone to help. I was directed to the specific aisles right after being greeted when I entered. Many might say that you can't get that "Stars Hollow" small town feel living in the center of a big city. But Fusek's (and its neighbor Needler's) would prove those people wrong. Goodbye big name hardware stores! I stopped in today for the first time and am disappointed I haven't come by sooner! To start with, they have a parking lot which is a big bonus for any retail space downtown. The employees were so kind and helpful. They helped me get exactly what I needed for my project. With it being a smaller business, I figured the prices would be more expensive. But they were not! I think it was the same price or cheaper what it would be at a big store. Plus they offer price matches. I also received 10% off for signing up for their rewards. Gwen was so delightful to chat with when I was checking out and signing up for the rewards. This is such a nice hardware store! *They give you 10% off if you check - in on Yelp. Another great thing about this store is that they're a YETI Authorized dealer. Not many places are actually authorized. They had a lot of new colors to choose from. The Rambler wine tumbler is one I haven't seen before. They even had YETI dog bowls! I'm happily standing by my 5 star review of Fusek's. We recently went in to buy a grill that we knew we could order online (you know, support local if at all possible...). They made a special order, gave us 10% off, assembled the grill free of charge, and delivered for free. And they did this without any haggling. Fusek's really rocks customer service. I work nearby and my coworkers and I run in frequently for supplies as well as screws and bolts to replace the ones we have lost. I am definitely mechanically challenged and I truly appreciate the Fusek's employees. A recent example: I noticed that a brake had fallen off my mobile x-ray machine. I wheeled the entire machine into the store, two employees took a look at it then spent some time locating the correct screws and bolts.Then they repaired it, reattaching the brake and it was as good as new. For all of this personal attention and effort they charged me fifty cents. FIFTY CENTS! I wanted to pay for their labor but they would only accept payment for the cost of the nuts and bolts. Just try getting that level of service from any of the big box stores. Downtown Indy is incredibly fortunate to have an old fashioned hardware store. I know that my company truly appreciates Fusek's as a wonderful Lockerbie neighbor. read more

Most people know Yelp for their reviews of restaurants, however, those truly "in the know" turn to Yelp for reviews of dry cleaners, grocery stores, and even hardware stores. I had a little get together at my abode over the weekend. It was kind of a last minute thing (sorry, I'm still trying to figure out that e-vite thing, so your invitation probably got lost). Since it was the first real nice weekend we have had, I thought it best to take advantage in case the weather turned to 100+ degree days before the next weekend. I decided to have a little cookout. With less than an hour to plan, shop and clean, I realized I had invited people over for a cookout, and I had no charcoal. No gas here baby.. i rock out the weber charcoal grill 100%. It works great most of the time, unless you've invited a house full of people over, and realize you don't have to fuel to light their fire (literally) and gotta get some fast. This is where Fusek's True Value comes into play. Thinking fast, I knew they were just a couple of blocks away, and I figured they probably had what I needed. Running into the store, I of course grabbed my Yelp mobile app and checked in (like a good Yelper always does) and was REWARDED with a 15% off discount just for checking in. Who said Yelp doesn't pay?! I grabbed my lump hardwood charcoal and sprinted towards the register where the cashier was awaiting my purchase. Not only was he super fast, but he commented how awesome it was for me to check in on Yelp and reap the rewards. Then, he said "uh.,, let me get my manager", I've shopped plenty to know that "let me get my manager" isn't a good sign, and usually mean I'm going to be delayed for one reason or another. I also knew I hadn't given him my credit card yet, so there wasn't a chance it was declined, and I hadn't tried to pass off Monopoly money as real currency, so I didn't know what the problem was. The manager was up to the cash register in seconds. Seriously.. I think they train for this kind of stuff so they don't delay anyone. I wonder if I drive by late at night if they do relay races just to keep their response time down to a mere sliver of time. The manager quickly reviewed the situation and apologized, telling me that my item was actually on sale, and it wouldn't let the cashier give the Yelp discount because it was a sale item. I politely thanked the manager and told him I didn't see the sale sign, but not to worry about the discount. I was perfectly pleased and happy to pay for full sale price, but he promptly said "I'm going to go ahead and give it to you this time". How awesome is that?! There aren't many hardware stores downtown, and I typically travel out of my way to one of the larger chain stores for my purchases, however, based on this experience, I'll be saving gas, supporting a local business, and making sure I stop by Fusek's from now on. The have a great selection of various hardware-related items, seeds and soil for gardening, and just about anything you could need. The service is fast and friendly, and they even have reserved parking out front. What could be better? First and foremost, this hardware store is great. No, they don't have everything under the sun, and yes, you can find stuff a few percent cheaper at a big hardware chain. But! They're the closest hardware store for downtown residents, and they ALWAYS have staff on hand to help you find things or answer questions. First, the guy at the counter pointed me right where I wanted to go when I asked him where something was located (though he didn't offer any help after that). The people that work here are all very nice, knowledgeable and helpful. Every time I come I get greeted, I tell them what I need, they show me where to find it and I'm on my merry way. Way quicker than going to one of the big box stores! On an occasion, one of the screws on my license plate holder stripped, I came in for a removal tool, one of the people working that night cane out to check it out, grabbed his own tools and wrestled the screw for about half and hour until he finally got it out. Then he replaced the screws and installed my new plate. I was only charged a couple buck for the new screws. For such a small place, they have just about everything you'll need for most projects. Prices on some things are higher than Lowe's but the products are also higher quality.
