For the last few years we have been converting our gas appliances to electric, and we were at the point of wanting to replace our gas water heater with a heat pump electric heater. We were referred to Fuse Service HVAC & Electrical SF by QuitCarbon, an organization that helps homeowners make the transition to clean energy. QuitCarbon told us they had many clients who had positive experiences with Fuse, so we took their advice. Prior to the installation, we had numerous email and text conversations with both Fuse and QuitCarbon, and learned what we needed to know about what kind and size of water heater would be right for us and how to apply for various rebates. Both companies are very good with communication. The installation itself was performed by a wonderful 3-person team. They were friendly and respectful and worked hard and long to finish the job in one day, which was a real benefit for us, because it meant we lived without hot water for only the one day. A couple days after the installation we had a problem with hot water leaking from our dishwasher, even when it wasn't turned on. Because it was a hot water problem, we called Fuse sometime in the evening. They sent someone the next morning who spent a couple hours trouble-shooting and figuring out exactly what the problem was. It was not really related to the water heater installation, and we expected to have to pay something, but we weren't charged anything for the visit. Fuse is not an appliance repair company, so the dishwasher wasn't fixed yet, but the water to it was shut off without affecting water anywhere else, so we were in good shape until we had the dishwasher repaired. We're very pleased with the good service we got from Fuse. And the water heater works great! read more

Fuse are without a doubt the best contractors I've worked with. We're doing a major remodel, so I've had dealings with a fair few contractors, and there's always something irritating - projects go over time and budget; people are unresponsive to messages, and show up late or not at all; products are upsold; communication is unclear... With Fuse, there was none of that. They showed up when they said they would, and worked literally all weekend in order to complete the job in the timeline they had given, even though there were unforeseen obstacles that made it more complex than expected. Our whole HVAC system needed replacing, and we wanted to go with a ductless heat pump system. We got estimates from five companies. Fuse's price was not the lowest, but was in the middle; and they stood out from the rest because of the time and consideration they took to walk around the home, discuss options, and explain their proposed solution to me. They were also available immediately, unlike several contractors who were booked up for months. I'm often a bit suspicious of companies that operate in that way - I guess I assume they must be hiring the worst people and cutting corners - but Fuse were highly knowledgeable and professional. One of our installers used to run his own very successful HVAC business, and he thought of a really clean solution to the problem of where to locate the ducts running from one of the wall units so that they would not be at all visible from the front of the house. I can't emphasize enough how nice it feels to trust a contractor to do good work at a fair price, and on top of that, with impeccable customer service. I wish it wasn't so unusual! My dryer stopped working. I had recently had the start switch replaced so knew that it wasn't a problem and that I would to hire professionals. I chose Fuse because they had good reviews, a competitive diagnostic fee, and were quick to contact me. The technician came early in day and had to return later that same day to diagnose issue. Communication with Jason who helped with scheduling was excellent. The problem turned out to be a door switch and latch. However the technician Alex and then later Archie also recommended cleaning the inside of the dryer and also brought the issue of the proper venting of the dryer up. The latter issue wasn't a problem because there was an easy work around, and I requested that a picture be sent of the inside of the dryer so that I can decide whether to approve the work. Turns out due to a misunderstanding, the cleaning and maintenance was done before I had a chance to approve the work. I spoke to Jason and Alex who are committed to customer satisfaction as had been mentioned in other reviews and an excellent resolution was reached. Sometimes the mark of a reputable company is not just how to execute service but also how they resolve any issues that come up. Based on my experience, I am very satisfied with the service that this company provides. I especially appreciate the work that Archie provided. read more

We had a very disappointing experience with Fuse. They installed our HVAC system, and it failed inspection due to improperly installed condenser piping. The inspector specifically noted that the pipes were installed using a shortcut and need to be properly decoupled. What's most frustrating is that this is not a gray area -- it's a clear code/compliance issue. Despite this, Fuse is now refusing to correct their own installation without charging us additional fees. Before the project, we were explicitly assured by Lexi at Fuse that the system would pass inspection and that if anything came up, they would take care of it. We relied on that guarantee and paid in full. Now that there's an issue, they are going back on their word and trying to charge more to fix something that should have been done correctly the first time. This feels like a bait-and-switch. We paid for a complete, code-compliant installation -- not something that fails inspection and requires additional money to fix. I would strongly caution anyone considering Fuse to get everything in writing and be very careful about relying on verbal guarantees. Based on our experience, once they are paid, accountability becomes an issue. read more

My husband had called earlier in the morning (before opening @ 9am) and left message. Received call back and advised that someone would be coming between 1-2pm. Jason arrived earlier than the stated time. Provided him with an recap of what's needed according to PG&E. He went straight to the electrical panel and started working. He was diligent about identifying the actual problem and not just provide probable causes. Had to turn off the power completely and gave me adequate time to shut down my laptop. After a few minutes, he was able to isolate and identify the problem. He provided a solution (trip to Home Depot to see if part was available, no promises of course) and an estimated cost. Returned with the replacement part and advised me that power had to be turned off again. He then proceeded with installing the part. Power turned back on and did testing to ensure everything was working. Glad to say that my house now has 100% of it's power back. Jason was very knowledgeable, very upfront and didn't sugarcoat anything. He saved us time and money (all fixed within the same day). We contacted Fuse Service because we purchased a new electric dryer that needed the old outlet changed out so the plug would fit. We also wanted a quote for changing out the old two-wires for our old thermostat so we could use a new digital one. We were uneducated about what it all entailed and wavered about the cost. Well, we needed our dryer hooked up and begrudgingly accepted the cost. Let me tell you the cost was well worth it. Both projects were scoped accurately as they involved much more than what we understood them to be. We were incredibly pleased with the service we received by their service lead Stan. His explanations really helped us to understand things and increased our confidence with the process. He exhibited great professionalism, showing that he cared about our needs and spent the time making sure we were more than satisfied with the results. We can't say enough great things about Stan. He is the epitome of calm and patient, and really is an outstanding electrician. We will definitely be repeat customers! And we'll be asking for Stan. read more

We had a really great experience with Fuse HVAC and Electric installing a Mitsubishi heat pump + mini-split system in our home. This wasn't the easiest job--our compressor is on the roof, and access is tight with some tricky ladder work. A couple of other companies didn't even want to bid because of the complexity. Fuse, on the other hand, was totally unfazed and approached it with a real can-do attitude. Dean and Adam handled the installation and were fantastic. They were on-site for about a week and honestly felt like part of the household--super professional, hardworking, and very detail-oriented. They also problem-solved on the fly when needed and kept everything moving smoothly. One thing we especially appreciated was how clean and thoughtful the install turned out. The conduits and line sets are neatly run and well-integrated visually, which mattered a lot to us. All in all, a very positive experience. We'd absolutely recommend Fuse if you're considering HVAC or electrical work, especially for a more complex project. read more

It's hard to praise the people at Fuse highly enough. Ever time I interacted with any Fuse employee, they advanced my project, solved my problem, made my experience better. Valentin responded to my initial call very speedily, made an excellent proposal within a few hours, and expertly planned the replacement or my ancient gas furnace (c.1959). Artur and Alec, in an amazingly short time and with perfect professionalism, courtesy and skill installed the replacement, a Mitsubishi heat pump/condenser HVAC (with a mini-split in a previously heatless room). Jason in the office coordinated everything with startling speed and excellent communication. He made sure I was always aware of what was happening and when. Communication/coordination was faultless. Valentin returned, again exactly on time, and showed the inspector the completed work, which not only passed easily, but earned the inspector's compliments. We had an awesome experience with Fuse HVAC & Electrical. The guys who worked on my electrical job were Stan and Sergei, and they did a fantastic job. We needed to install several outlets and a camera outside. Even though the work took longer than expected due to some complications inside the walls, they were super patient and respectful of our property. They made sure everything was perfect and safe before they left. Their pricing is transparent and falls within the normal range for San Francisco. There are no surprise bills at the end. Overall, We can't recommend Fuse HVAC & Electrical enough - if you need any electrical work done, these are the guys to call! Their communication through text and email was prompt, clear, and professional. Before the appointment, I got reminders and a photo of the technician, which I appreciated as a woman living alone. Stan, the technician, arrived on time, diagnosed the issue quickly, and replaced a part in under an hour. He was friendly, informative, and didn't try to upsell unnecessary services. When the heater had issues again months later, Stan returned with another technician, and once again, they were courteous and thorough in explaining my options.
