I was shockingly surprised on how filthy dirty this establishment was. Every inch of Funtopia Glenview was disgusting, I really wish I would of taken pictures. The glass had the dirtiest handprints, the jungle gym had the thickest dust mites. Restrooms were so dirty not to mention the harnesses were gross. I understand establishments are short staffed, however it is clear they do not care of safety and cleanliness of the children. Most places have a service that comes in after hours to maintain facilities like this. I can assure you if you want your child to get sick this is the place. Highly disappointed. We brought 5 children 3 which could do the harness activities and 2 that did the jungle gym. By far the worst jungle gym for children under 4 don't waste your money! There was also older children ages 11-12 in the little kid area which didn't belong pushing other littles, unless you want to climb in the 4 foot high jungle gym with your kid so big kids don't push them and knock them out if the way have at it! read more

NEVER coming here again. OsMara and Tanya were working when we came in for my sons birthday. One of these ladies (not sure which one) decided she didn't like the mask I was wearing and made up a lie that the police patrol their location every 30 mins to make sure everyone is wearing their masks and that my mask would get me kicked out by the police. I went on about my day there anyway, and not one police showed up to "patrol". After speaking to the manager about her employees threat and fear mongering, I find out that THEY actually call the police on customers!! Apparently it's in their "policy", so I was told. I will never support this business again for 1. Lying 2. Threatening 3. Fear mongering. BTW, I've worn this type of mask for a full year. NO store or business ever had a problem with it.. which is why she never called the cops. Because she knew they would back me up. It Was simply a threat and fear mongering based off of her OPINION. Fun, fun, fun! We are visiting from out of town and had a blast here. A big variety of climbing walls/areas, the rope course is challenging (even for an adult) and the staff/supervision was very good. We didn't go in the caves (not enough time) but those looked cool as well. I can see how it could get busy yet I think the implication would be longer wait times for walls - they do limit how many can be in the area at any one time which is huge. There are parents/younger kids in the area watching their kids/siblings - my only knock is these people unknowingly get in the way of climbers and risk getting hit. Can't tell you the times I warned people to move or watch out. That said - loved the experience!! read more

It is a fun place for kids but it is dirty. It needs major cleaning. It looks like it was not clean since the day they opened. Bathrooms, floors are nasty. There is so much dust on the Jungle Gym and even going down the stairs you can see dust everywhere. It is a place where kids play and eat so it should be kept clean. read more

I am not crazy about heights. I am even less crazy about claustrophobic places. My children have no idea. Are these little fearless monkeys really my children? We attended a little yelper event and we had such a wonderful fun time. Funtopia provides an environment where children can do daring exciting climbs and push their personal limits in a safe environment. My children REALLY want to do their birthday party here now. Heck, I want to do my own birthday party here now. Am I too old? The staff was nice and helpful and kept their eyes peeled for children that were tentatively eyeing the climbing walls and cheerfully asked if they want to try and hooked them up. Special thanks to the nice young man who took my 5 year old twins in the caves to look for treasure. They were all geared up with headlamps on their heads and pads on their knees and elbows and they loved the adventure. Thank you Angela at Yelp for organizing a great event. This place is very, very unsafe. We took our 2 and 3.5 year olds today and played in the jungle gym area. There is a door through the cave area that kids can open that leads to a restricted area with breakable Christmas ornaments and electrical wires. Our girls ended up here, but it was so chaotic and loud that we couldn't hear our 3 year old yelling for us (she couldn't get back through the door and we didn't know they weren't supposed to be back there...). Also, one of the gates was broken, so we saw multiple toddlers get through and start climbing the stairs. read more

I ordered 3 separate gift cards for Funtopia in Glenview for each of my 3 nephews and paid for priority shipping to ensure they received the gift cards before Christmas. Only 2 of the gift cards arrived. I called and spoke with someone who could not locate proof in their system that I ordered the 3 gift cards. However, I confirmed that all 3 were charged to my credit card. I have yet to speak with a manager to get it sorted out. I just had my daughter's birthday party over the weekend and we had a great time. My party host Massimo went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. There were plenty of activities for my party guest to do. We didn't have any issues and felt that Funtopia was well staffed for a busy Saturday. Funtopia is a great place to let your kids run around and play and get all that energy out. The pizza was pretty good and the slices were very generous. My wife and i will never take our child to this place again the attendants were irresponsible teenagers and they strapped the harness on my child so tight that afterwards he had red marks and pain on his body. I'm sure many people like this place, but it's a zoo and completely mismanaged. I took my toddlers here (they are just over 2.5) for a friend's birthday party. There was very few staff on hand for the massive amounts of children at play. There were no instructions posted about age limits/requirements in each area. And no where for children (or adults) to place their shoes for the indoor playground. I was throughly disappointed by the staff and how they treated/condescended me when I complained. I was told that a 15 year old was monitoring the space I complained about, and that I should give her a chance. Personally, I don't believe a minor should be in charge of such a large and chaotic group of children. They don't have the life experience to handle this. read more

These sorts of birthday fun places are common in this area. I would choose a different one. The kids loved all the different climbing walls. However, the employees were disconnected and not interested in helping the kids very rapidly. In addition, only one bathroom was working today (a single-seater for men and a single-seater for women). On a Sunday when they were about 80 kids in the place, this is completely unacceptable. I will not plan future parties here. read more

Horrible! For a business to be involved in so many kids, they are not prepared! Too many kids and staff is nowhere to be seen. Provide little help with directions or facilitating the area. My son signed up for a jungle gym (he's a toddler) and the play area (which is a small nook as it is) has been overrun by the bigger kids. Talked to a staff to do something about it and they said there's nothing they can do because children fro ages 0-8 can play there. Seriously?!? Another parent also complained but fell to deaf ears! My review is based solely on the jungle gym/soft play area, since none of the kids in our group were big enough for the ropes, and there were no time slots open to climb in the areas that our bigger kids would qualify for. So the jungle gym/soft play area is intended for 1-8 year olds, according to Funtopia. I disagree with this age range. The jungle gym is appropriate for 2.5-year olds, bare minimum! My 22-month old would have probably killed himself had I not squeezed myself up into the play structure to monitor him. And he's a fairly cautious kid! And the soft play area is for infants, not toddlers. So if you have kids that are about 1-2.5 years old this is not the place for you, unless you want to follow them around the play structure yourself ... And it's not comfortable!!! This place is expensive, and for non-climbers you can get nearly the exact same experience, plus so much more, for less money at the Exploritorium in Skokie. Go there instead! Three stars because the climbing looked fun. read more

This place is super cool!! I took my nephews (age 5&7) and unfortunately they were too small to climb, but they had a blast in the jungle gym! Great place to run off some steam in these winter months! Will definitely take them climbing when big enough. Heads up if you're going climbing, you have to book in advance. The mini melts ice cream machine gives you zero refunds and cracked cups the crack the cups are cracked and they claim that it's not their machine so it's not their problem and they were really rude about it. Although the Minnie mouse ice cream machine is bad and delivers cracked cups the climbing was really fun and a great experience for family and friends. read more

New so nice clean climbing equipment. It says for all ages but I would only recommend up to age 12. My 14 year old was impressed at first but bored in 30 minutes. Staff is poorly trained and so disorganized. There is no proper flow to coming in ( sign waivers, pay, get harness, watch video ) and cashier advised us to wait at the side while other 30+ people coming after went ahead. We had a very unfortunate incident and will never return. The jungle gym area is for little kids but is not supervised (at least it wasn't today). We came with a group of kids and one of our boys was actually hit very violently by a smaller boy. We have notified the parent who was sitting and eating (probably didn't see the whole ordeal) and unfortunately a big fiasco began. We were called racial names by the father, he called us low life and garbage, and the kid lied straight to our face that he was actually the one who was hit by someone, etc. It escalated and we asked for a manager. Keep in mind that it took 10-15min before an employee came to assist. The manager, Brian, right away was siding with the man who was yelling and making up ridiculous lies - perhaps because he was bigger, louder, and maybe Brian was intimidated by him. Either way, he was so disrespectful to us and said "to wait for him in the corner" as if though we were kids, lol. He said he will review the security cameras and will determine who is "saying the truth". He didn't even ask for our names or phone numbers. What a joke! So if you have little kids, please keep in mind that the Jungle Gym is unsupervised. And when you need a supervisor, they obviously don't know how to control the situation. I purchased a Groupon for my 10yr old son and his friend to burn off some energy in the cold winter months with no expectations. We were pleasantly surprised by how much there was available to do. The sign in was an easy process and asked you to go to a room to get fitted with a harness and video. its was about an 8 second blip on how to attach the kids safely for wall climbing. Honestly if you blinked, you would've missed it. I do like the time slots because it did give them opportunity to go on everything without waiting in long lines. I was afraid that it may have been more attracted to smaller ages, but the boys were still challenged and had a blast. Overall our experience was great and would definitely love to come back. Only suggestion that i would have, the instruction video becomes a little long on how to attach the kids to the wall. There was plenty of employees to help on the floor for assistance, but did not want to always rely on them if I could latch them in myself. Maybe have an example latch in the prep room to give a quick demonstration. read more

My son loved it the first time we visited, and it must have made quite an impression because when I took the day off to spend Columbus Day with him, his top priority was going back to Funtopia. The last time we visited, we walked in and paid and had a great time. No mention was made of scheduling a time. So imagine how shocked I was when we walked in today at 1:00 and was told we wouldn't be able to play until 3:30, and that we should have scheduled a time beforehand on their website. Now I went to their site 3 different times in the days leading up to Columbus Day. I checked the hours and rates. I looked at the pictures. I looked at the address. NO WHERE on the site did it say we'd need to schedule a time slot! It wasn't as if it was overly crowded. It was shockingly empty for a school holiday. But the girl at the desk looked at me like I was an idiot for somehow not knowing this information. HOW are we supposed to deduce that we better schedule or time, or we're going to be turned away with a crying kid??? I'm so disappointed. We weren't able to come back at the open 3:30 slot because we had another appointment at 4. He was devastated that the one thing he wanted to do on our fun day together was the one thing we weren't able to do. I really hope they'll consider revamping their website to make this information plain and obvious and redundant so that other parents can avoid this situation in the future. But yes: if you get in, it really is super fun! read more

Took our 6 year old son here on Sunday. We called ahead to see if by chance a walk in was doable. Very nice employee on the phone , confirmed walk in was totally fine as the weren't super busy. We arrived , signed the online waiver process and our son was off and playing in the jungle gym area within minutes. He had a great time. We will be back again to try out the ropes and wall climbing. Please do not book your birthday party or event at this venue. We hosted our daughter's birthday party at Funtopia Glenview yesterday and it was a terrible experience because the staff is rude, disinterested and inattentive. We observed this behavior and treatment to other customers as regular guests in the past but assumed it was just a result of general new business kinks - Not the case. While I understand and respect the fact that safety is of the utmost importance at a venue like this, there is a nice way and a mean way to enforce rules and policies. We have been treated rudely by staff members who act like they would rather be watching paint dry or are too busy socializing with each other to help provide their customers with help and will never return as a result. A crying 8-year-old at her own party and fellow partygoers complaining about rude staff members was enough for me to make this decision. The only saving grace was that we had an excellent party coordinator (Sara) who was friendly. When I asked my daughter what her favorite part of her birthday party was, she responded by saying: "the cake" (which I brought, myself). Not a good review in my opinion. This is a great place to take kids who are eager to use lots of muscles and apply strategy to succeed at the various climbing activities. The employees are friendly and helpful. There are tables and chairs available for anyone who is either not participating or needs a rest and a snack. I definitely plan to bring my grandchildren back here. read more

Good for kids, if you are OK with the staff lying to your little ones. The guy manning the slide told our kids that the slide was running low on batteries, so they couldn't ride it. Turned out that was his way of saying "you have to pay extra for the slide". Excellent sales skills, buddy. Great and fun place for children. Lots of awesome activities that really challenges their fears of heights. Great for coordination and climbing. Would have given 5 stars, but the women's bathroom were disgusting. One suggestion, entrance from garage should be closed. Too near the bathrooms and children could walk out easily. read more

Clean space, friendly staff and loads of fun. Our first time here was for their spring break camp. We did two drop in days that week. My six-year-old loved it! She has asked to go back almost every day since. I loved the experience and the interactions with everyone so much, I've decided to use this location as a place for a family fun night for a couple of groups when it is my turn to host. The party packages look amazing and seem very reasonable. I will be looking into those in the near future as well. read more
