NYC hot take: Funny Face Bakery makes the BEST chocolate chip cookies in the city and I will die on this hill. Crunchy edges, gooey center, and the perfect chocolate chip ratio. They fully stole my heart. And don't sleep on their holiday collab with Baileys. Stock up on these chunky, boozy cookies for the holidays to impress your guests at a party. ＊Baileys Hot Cocoa ** ＊Baileys Peppermint Mocha Martini Two holiday limited flavors -- it's a crime not to finish the baileys hot cocoa cookie in one sitting. The baileys peppermint mocha martini is slightly minty without being overpowering ＊Chocolate Chip Cookie ** Crunchy edges, ooey-gooey dough, and half-molten chocolate chips that were criminally good. And coming from someone who isn't even the biggest chocolate chip cookie fan, this one had my whole heart. ＊S'mores Cookie I failed the dramatic marshmallow pull, but the combo of soft toasted marshmallow and crunchy graham cracker was pure satisfaction. ＊Crispy Mallow Crunch I was recommended to try this cereal-inspired cookie. I could absolutely imagine how good this would be with a glass of milk. ＊Ginger Spice Cuties I just wish they had this flavor in a regular size. I liked the bite size but the cuties were a bit firmer compared to the others.
Ooey-gooey goodness. These cookies are massive, soft, and definitely not cheap. I kept it simple and went with the chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was loaded with chocolate chips and had a soft center. What shocked me most was how little sweet it was. This may be the first and possibly only time I'll ever say this about a dessert, but it could've used an extra pinch of sugar. Usually it's the opposite. Not quite the flavor bomb I was expecting, but still a pretty solid cookie.
I came to New York with a mission. There are tons of lists detailing "the best chocolate chip cookie in New York City" but I was resolved to figure this out for myself. While I didn't even come close to trying out the top 30, I did happen to scour the city to try the top 5 and am happy to report that Funny Face was the clear winner! Funny Face's chocolate cookie was the best for many reasons. 1. It was thick! I like a big thick cookie (think: Levain style) where you literally have to grab it with two hands to break it in half. 2. Unlike Levain, it wasn't overly sweet. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a Levain cookie, but Funny Face felt less sweet than theirs making it easier to just keep enjoying and enjoying! 3. They had a great variety of other flavors too! The rice crispy cookie was fun, so was a fall spiced one. So while they have a bunch of fun decorated funny face cookies, those chunky cookies without the frills were my clear favorites!
WHEN: Monday @7:30pm It was dinner time, and since we are adults, we swung by this shop to try the infamous cookie: CHOCOLATE CHIP - $7 I know the price is steep but it's pretty darn good. It was warm and gooey, and overall thick. I had to run to the grocery store to get some milk and that combo was such a delight! Couldn't finish it all in one sitting since it's a rich and hefty thing. Still yummy the next day and even better when nuked!
We were craving a cookie and were so happy to see that one of the best rated spots in NYC was open somewhat late the evening we stumbled in. It's so colorful and they have so many different cookies based on different tv characters, actors, and other artists. We came in for their traditional cookies though and were not disappointed. My friend got the chocolate chip cookie and I got the crispy mallow crunch cookie, which blended two of my favorite things, a marshmallow treat with a cookie. We loved our cookies and felt they were a step above Levain, they were obviously fresher in flavor but also less hard. The consistency was great and the size was so large I could not finish mine in one sitting. The young lady who took care of us at the counter was really sweet and shared all of her recommendations with us as well!
I was influenced to visit Funny Face Bakery from Remi Ashten who has made videos coming here whenever she's in NYC. The decorated cookies are so fun and there's so many different designs you can choose from. They are definitely very pricey, so I opted for the Crumbfetti cookie which was your basic cookie with sprinkles and it was $6.50. The cookie was nice and warm and I thought it was very tasty. I've also been to Levain in NYC before and would say these two spots are very similar.
Taking a walk on my lunch break and decided to stop in for a sweet treat. I already had their chocolate chip cookie before so I went with the limited Sticky toffee nana chip. Omg it was so delicious very rich and buttery and I love the toffee and banana combined. It's always empty in there which could be good or bad but the people behind the counter are always friendly and helpful.
Honestly I like funny face. It fits my cookie type. I do think the chocolate chip is not as good as levain because it's sweater without the walnuts to cut it. Texture wise they're pretty similar. I reallllly like the s'mores cookie from here though. It's better than their chocolate chip. The apple one is also not bad. The pumpkin spice one was pretty good and decent pumpkin flavor. The banana toffee one does taste exactly like banana bread but I wasn't really digging it I think I'd rather just have banana bread. Overall a great cookie shop though! I have yet to try one of their decorated cookies
We went to the one in Noho. It's a cute, little shop. They have a variety of flavors and collaborations. They also have decorated cookies . Some with celebrity faces. Others with pictures of the NYC skyline and quotes. We went with their Chocolate Chip and Crispy Mallow Crunch cookies. We split both. My husband and I agreed that this was the BEST cookies we've ever eaten and will now compare any cookies we eat, to this. I loved both but the winner was the Crispy Mallow Crunch for me. It's decadent and for the price, worth every bite! We will be back to try others.
Very good cookies. Big in size, soft and chewy even after a few days. I purchased the chocolate chip, rainbow crumbfetti, s'mores & a decorated Aquarius cookie. I read another reviewer mentioned the chocolate chip reminded him of Levain cookies, I can confirm that. The decorated cookies are way overpriced but the artwork is gorg.
I love this place, EVERY choice is so delicious and rich. My favorite Funny Face cookie is one I'd skip anywhere else... the Sprinkle cookie. The cookies and cream is my top notch also. The yummiest cookies ever. Enjoy.
Gfs favorite cookie spot in the city and it did not disappoint. She brought me back 3 cookies from her last trip to NY and to be able to have one fresh/immediately after purchase is such a game changer...because I liked them a lot after 6 hour flight. The cookie has a good chew, crispy bits from the cereal, not too sweet. So good. Interior is cute, I don't understand why it's not packed. Service is friendly.
The cutest little bakery! Their cookies are hella expensive but you can tell they take a lot of work. Came here for the PSL cookie, left with a marshmallow crunch cookie too. YUM.

To be honest, I only stopped in because the aesthetic but stayed for the cookies. Not often you see a place plastered in purple. The cashier was dope. Super patient and laid back with us despite bombarding her with a lot of questions before making our final decisions hahahaha. I got Crumbfetti for me, and my friend and I split the s'mores and oatmeal chocolate chip ones. Each of them big in size and deliciousness. They were perfect in terms of consistency; not dry at all and probably among the best cookies I've ever tasted in my life. (No cap, as the youth say these days). Also, it'd be remiss not to mention throwback playlist when we descended on Funny Face. Once Mariah Carey's "Obsessed" came on, everyone in the shop lost it and began dancing and vibing. Definitely recommend going to this place when you want to have good fuel and energy. read more

This place has been on my list for years, so naturally I was geeked to finally be checking it out. When I finally got it, I saw how mouthwatering all the desserts were but in person! There were so many things to choose from, I didn't know where to start. I knew I wanted a chocolate chip, but should I get it plain or with raisins? What about the s'mores? Ultimately, I went with one chocolate chip, one s'mores, and one crumbfetti. Each cookie is thick but jammed packed with their respective ingredients. I think out of those three, I liked the s'mores and chocolate chip the best. Everything I had was good, but the s'mores in particular had the Golden Grahams to give it an added boost of flavor. I'm not sure if they rotate their menu, but I def know what I'm getting the next time I'm in town! read more

Cookie was really great and similar to Levain, in my opinion. I loved how it was crispy on the outside yet gooey inside. Very solid chocolate chip cookie with no complaints. Service was really great. Super welcoming folks and service was fast. Place was playing some fun music, is decorated funnily, and has a small area to eat inside. Highly recommend to try it if nearby. read more
After eating such and pizza for lunch(es), we finished off with a couple of cookies. I have seen some on social media say that the chocolate chip cookies here are the best, even compared to Levain! To be fair, I actually think the best cookie at Levain is the dark chocolate peanut butter, which is saying a lot because I usually love chocolate chip. But something about the way Levain does that cookie makes it amazing!! But I digress... It n my opinion, the FF chocolate chip cookie is very comparable to Levain. We ate it fresh so the inside was still warm a little bit gooey, although I feel like Levain is a bit more gooey/doughy. There is a ton of chocolate chips mixed in, like Levain although if you get the two chip at Levain, then not as much; and if you get chocolate chip walnut at Levain, then probably more. I think the outside of Levain's cookies have a little more crisp, so maybe more butter or cooked longer. Ultimately though, I think pretty comparable overall when comparing chip to chip; but once you throw in the dark chocolate peanut butter, no contest. read more
I came across this place I think on TikTok or Instagram, so I made sure my sisters & I stopped by this place. It's super cute inside and my gosh, I was amazed at all the sugar cookies they had! We ended up getting the other cookies though and I think all of us enjoyed our cookies except for my sister who had to get the vegan & gluten free one (she wasn't a huge fan of that one). read more
Deliciousssss omg best chocolate chip cookie but giving four stars because we paid for two cookies and only got one didn't realize until we got home. Served warm and stayed warm on the subway ride home. Deliciously crispy exterior with gooey dough like center. Wow. Shop was very cute and smelled amazing although I wish they had some sort of seating. read more
Did someone say cookies? I heard that they had a great chocolate chip cookie and I was on a mission to find out. My favorite cookie is from Levain, so naturally, I compared this one to it. Is it better than Levain's? I'd say it's almost as good, maybe even a tie. While it's not as large as Levain's, it's perfectly sweetened with a great balance of chocolate chips. Beyond the chocolate chip cookies, they also offer fun sugar cookies with pictures on them, featuring memes, Crying Kim Kardashian, and other funny designs. The cookies are both delicious and entertaining. It's a bit pricey, but that's New York for you. read more

Fantastic cookies! Every flavor was delicious. Particularly liked the cookies and cream, but also enjoyed the sticky toffee-nana chip, classic chocolate chip, s'mores, and crispy mallow crunch. Great with coffee, took me days and lots of helpers to polish them off! read more
I didn't even know about this place until I passed by it while walking around downtown. But since it was close to valentines weekend a lot of people were coming in and out of the store. They do make designs on pictures that you give them, but it will come out in bulk. They were giving out samples of their perishable ones (not the ones with faces). All were yummy. Just remember that they sell out of the seasonal ones fairly quickly and that each of the ones with designs on it last for 30 days. read more
Yummy smore's cookie! soooo good! tried some when a coworker ordered them for a office meeting and was really impressed! With some crunch and smore's, the combo was perfect and great for sharing (or I'm sure I can eat one myself). read more

Similar to levain but maybe a little more buttery, gooey cookies. An elite chocolate chip cookie for sure read more
Don't be fooled-- Funny Face has more than just the gorgeous painted cookies. The chocolate chip cookie here is so good, and my friend really liked the oatmeal raisin. So much that we had to go back two days later and get more cookies. However, the second time, I tried the crumbfetti cookie, and it may have been TOO ooey gooey, because I had a major tummy ache after. They have so many cookies I still want to try though, so I'll give them another shot. The s'mores and oreo cookies are calling my name!! read more
such a fun spot! the variety and options for cookie designs are out of this world. such craftmanship and details go into every sugar cookie. it is unbelieveble! yes they are pricey, but they are a fun little treat, or make a great gift if the design resonates with you. what a fun shop and sweet treat read more
Not a planned stop but heard about these cookies and wanted to give it a try for myself. Similar make to Levain but I do think this one edges out the chocolate chip in specific just a tad. It was super warm and crispy on the outside and perfectly gooey inside. No reason not to get a 5/5. Service was super nice. Wouldn't say it is MY best CC cookie in NYC but is a contender. Wanted to try some others but will save it for next visit. Worth a try if it is in your chocolate chip cookie crawl. read more

Funny Face Bakery was a new accidental find. I never thought I could enjoy a chocolate chip cookie this much. I really don't care about the other flavors they offer. I'm sold on the thick moist cookie. It's not obnoxiously sweet and full of chocolate chips! I like to take mine home and heat it in the toaster oven for breakfast! This cookie gives me lots of energy on the treadmill!! If you are visiting this neighborhood or not you need to get here and buy the chocolate chip cookie!! My daughter was sold too! read more
I have seen a lot of people online lately saying this is the best cookie spot in the city. Nope. I bought 4 cookies. They are very much styled after a levain cookie. I would say out of the new cookie spots this ranks above the big national chain the crumbles and below any of the other multi location places in the city. The biggest complaint I have is somehow every cookie tasted the same. - Chocolate Chip 6/10 - Crumbfetti 6/10 - Cookies and cream 5/10 (no chocolate taste) - Crispy Mallow Crunch 5/10 read more
Let's start off by saying this is EASILY the best chocolate chip cookie I have had. Crunchy exterior with a gooey, almost doughy, interior. Now this is a bigger cookie, but I don't mind - more to eat! If you aren't into big cookies, Funny Face a bunch of funny, creative designs of a lot of different types. Go in a give it a look! Get the chocolate chip cookie. read more

I did not end up buying any cookies but this store is deff one you should stop in to if ever in the area. Some very funny, interesting cookies. And they do personalized ones but you have to do it online. When I went in there there was no one in there. Its a small shop. The staff working there when I walked in seemed pre-occupied and didn't acknowledge me or asked if I needed help. But besides this It was fun to look at the different types of cookies that are in the store. read more

I was immediately welcomed by the lovely smell of baked sweets when I walked in. They have a wide selection of funny and cute sugar cookies. They donate a portion of the proceeds from the breast cancer cookie, which is why I bought that one. I also tried the s'more cookie and that was absolutely delicious. The sugar cookie was a bit on the harder side whereas the s'more cookie was very soft. It is very clear that they put a lot of effort into their craft and are great at it. read more
