Went to see Michael Blackson and he was HILARIOUS, the service, however, was TRASH. For one thing, they pack you in there like sardines! It's no space to even take your coat off without accidentally going upside somebody's head. So when we were seated, there was already someone at the table. The waitress came back 2 times and didn't even acknowledge us. My husband got up and went to the bar to get our drinks. Eventually we were able to order food. When we ordered the first comedian was just starting....fast forward to comedian #2, still no water or food. Fast forward to Michael Blackson, still no water or food. 10 minutes before the show ended (I know this because we were sitting directly in front of the countdown timer) here she comes with our food. I touched 1 fry and it was stone cold. Plus, who the heck wants to eat food when the show is about to end!! The table beside ours was STILL waiting on their food. So we sent the food back, thirsty as hell because we still didn't get any water. I was sucking the 600 cubes of ice in my vodka cran. This place is pretty pathetic. I should have listened to the reviews. This place is a nightmare with the exception of our waitress and the comedian. They herd people in like cattle. We were seated with 2 other people at a small table where the air conditioning unit dripped on the other couple even after he complained nothing, was done. The place was packed and shoulder to shoulder and very dark. We ordered food which was ok but hard to eat because it was so dark I paid with a credit card but when I got outside the card was not in my purse. I went back in and was told to stand at the side and the cleaners would find it if it was there. He never asked where I sat or let me go in to look myself before the next show. He was dismissive and arrogant. I left my phone number and called several times but nobody called me back. I had to cancel my card and will never go back here. read more

Decent environment, the seating is weird. Often times you're sharing a table with complete strangers. The food is averagely priced (besides the wings) they cost too much for just a few small hot wings. The food is good though. Absolutely terrible!! I asked if I could upgrade my ticket to VIP as I went online a minute prior to see if they Were available and the guy at the ticket booth said no. He said "I have already made my list of VIPs and can't add to it" I replied with "but I can buy a vip ticket right now online but you can't take an extra $10 from me? He said "there's nothing I can do unless you buy that ticket online" I asked if there was a way to turn my regular ticket into a voucher for next time so I can buy the vip and he said no. I enjoy coming to this venue to see some of my favorite comedians. The place is clean, the food is good and the staff has always been professional and courteous. Hubby and I visited this weekend to see one of our favs...Lavell Crawford! He was hilarious, as usual! We laughed from the time he got on stage until the very end. The venue is in a perfect location. There are shops and restaurants around. I love the seating area outside in the common area. It's so relaxing and inviting. Went to the Funny Bone with my boyfriend and we had a great time seeing Cocoa Brown along with Will Speed and Big Vino. Great atmosphere with friendly staff. The food is really good. I ordered chicken quesadillas and a drink and it was delicious. The only downside is that I felt like we were sitting on top of other people. We were at a four person table and another couple was seated right with us at a small table. We had to do some adjusting with all of the food that was on the table but overall, it was a great experience. read more

My friends and I had the pleasure of visiting your establishment Dec 26, the night Desi Banks performed. All was well in the beginning. The two security guards enforcing social distancing was great! Made the waiting time seem nonexistent as they laughed and mingled with crowd. However, our fun evening quickly turned bad once we were seated at roughly 9:15pm. Our server greeted us within 5 mins of being seated. We were still trying to settle in. Our experience with her was HORRIBLE. Mainly she lacked knowledge of the menu and products. She was very rude and disrespectful. I asked "how much was a single shot of crown? AND How much was a double shot of crown?" Her response was "You gotta look at the menu". I further explained that I was only asking because in some establishments its beneficial to the customer to get a double shot rather than single. Her reply was still the same "you gotta check the menu". Another person from our party said "ok, can you come back". Implying that would giving the table enough time to check the menu. We did and the information was not on the menu. Furthermore, she never came back. Finally the Caucasian curly hair security guard was waived over and we ask him to grab another server. The original server did return but however she was very argumentative with us - insisting that she came back, blatantly lying in our face. We repeatedly asked her to leave she stood there firm in her stance not budging to leave. One person from our party calmly said "please leave". She didn't. We were still met with negative body language, head/neck rolling, hand motions and eye rolling. To add insult to injury when she finally did decided to leave she exited and mumbled under her breath profanity. Wow, what a way to treat guest patronizing your establishment. Through more communication with staff, the manager came over at 9:50 after last call. In his attempt to help, he cause us a even bigger headache. We asked for 2 double shots, 2 mixed drinks. Charged us for 4 double shots, 2 mixed drinks and applied a discount. The tab was still astronomical. After a while that was resolved. We paid the correct price. The drinks arrived at 10:03. Two people came around to tell us we had to finish the drinks. Although they were doing their job, they asked us to finish our drinks due VA mandate. Please note, we were served after Funny Bones "last call". I cannot pay for something I didn't consume. Kep eventually gave a refund. However my friends and I missed big portions of the show due the argumentative server, attempting to get other staff attention for a new server, talking with Kep, and me leaving the performance space to go down to the bar to speak with Kep again. I've caught some amazing shows here with great friends! Dustin Diamond, Pauly Shore, Dave Attell just to name a few. The food and drinks are high priced but it's common for a place like this. T Some things I have a problem with are the seating and the announcer/hype man. The seating is awkward and you have to twist your back to get in a position to see the stage. The aisles are narrow and the arrangement is not convenient. There has to be a better solution. The hype-man... I could get more excitement out of chewing on cardboard. The person has a dry, boring, monotone voice that probably couldn't excite a toddler. "Keep the noise to a minimum and the laughter to an all out maximum" *insert muffled robot voice* You can do better Funny Bone! I believe in you. The meet and greet after the show is kind of depressing. I'm not sure how you could spruce up merch sales for the people that perform but standing over a table with random gear over it doesn't make people do a double-take before escaping out the door. read more

Adding this to our date night list! Definitely a good time. We chose the 9:30pm showtime on Saturday night. We got our tickets online and were instructed to pick up the tickets at will call. There was a $10.00 service charge when bought online, and we picked up the tickets at "will call" which was in the same line as people buying tickets. So I would try buying the tickets straight from the venue on the night of the show to potentially avoid the $10.00 per ticket service charge. We got in line at about 9:15pm and the line moved relatively quickly. When you get in the theatre it is community seating so we sat at a table with 2 other random people. Definitely an interesting concept but it didn't bother us any. A server (Ryan) quickly came to our table and we ordered a few drinks and the pretzel appetizer. I ordered the "Rubber Chicken" mixed drink for $8.50 and you can keep the souvenir Funny bone club glass. I ended up ordering another one later on and thought to myself that I should get two glasses. I planned on saying something to Ryan when he came back. Well he sure was on top of things! He brought our check and 2 clean souvenir glasses! We definitely enjoyed ourselves. My only advice would be to eat dinner elsewhere before the show, and just plan on drinks and a light snack at the comedy club. They do have a pretty big menu, but all of the food looked average. This was my second time visiting Virginia Beach Funny Bone. I really enjoyed the show! I laughed until I cried. Each time the host for the night was very funny, and warmed the crowd for each act. There isn't open seating. You are assigned a table when you or your group show up and provide your tickets. The venue can hold a good crowd for a comedy club. The waitresses continue to serve customers during the show. However, the guests at our table waited a while before their food arrived. The drinks are overly priced too. I would prefer the employees be a little more friendly. I will continue to visit the Virginia Beach Funny Bone for future shows. read more

Customer service is poor. The menu item was a bottle of wine for $22. It was brought to the table opened and was a tiny bottle. No one told us it was not a normal size bottle. We asked to upgrade to a normal size bottle, but we were told no because the bottle was open. Any other restaurant opens your bottle at the table. All other bottles on the menu were normal size except this one. But you cannot tell by the menu. The manage was unfriendly ( Lindsey), and has no customer service skills. Wow! What can i say. We bought the Valentines special for two. It was the comedy show with a three course meal and champagne for two. a EPIC FAIL!!! Took 30 min to get one beer, took 1 hour to get appetizer, at the 2 hour mark we still did not have our food. Everyone on the upper level had this Valentines package and they didn't get their food either. The comedian said thank you and good bye, lights came on and someone that isn't our waiter (because he abandoned us .... like seriously he stop going to the tables) someone brought us two champagne glasses and some champagne!! Seriously after the lights went on and the show was over. Then after waiting about 15 min for the manager, someone tried to bring us our prime rib dinner. NO THANKS! We were then asked to wait in the hall with all the other couples that didn't get their food So they could clean the tables. We wait for 15 min to have the manager give us her signature on a piece of paper to get a refund for everything that was paid ahead of time. Then tells us we need to go to the Box Office to get the refund. Keep in mind it's 35 degrees out and the box office is outside. Terrible terrible experience! They did not plan it well at all. Located in the middle of the Virginia Beach Town Center this comedy club brings out talented comics from near and far. Big names are always coming here to do shows. A friend of mine had free tickets to go the show so a group of six of us went last night to check it out. Let me throw this out there, I have yet to pay to go to Funny bone. When you fill out the card on the table with your info you enter to win free tickets to shows and that's how I've been coming there. As everyone else has stated in their reviews it is a bit tight in there so our party of 6 were all bumping knees. The server came around and took everyone's order. I ordered a bud light and since I was extremely hungry I ordered the Smokehouse Nachos, " A mound of chips covered in pulled pork, queso, black beans and tomatoes topped with onion crisps and bbq sauce". That was wayyy too much for me to eat by myself but I did anyways. it was a little pricey but still good. The host did a good job at keeping the crowd engaged and the comedians were hilarious! The Headliner Tim Young was great and engaged with the crowd and joked on them and no one got offended. I love comedy. This is my 3rd time coming here. The comedian I saw tonight was amazing. It was well worth the $25 ticket to see her! The comedy club itself was ok. It took almost 35 minutes just to get to the front of the line to scan our tickets and check our id. When we finally were seated, we were seated at a table for 4 with 2 strangers (it was 2 of us). This worked out because they were pleasant and so are we, but we don't really like to feel like we're getting crowded in like cattle. When the server took our drinks and order, we got our waters like 10 minutes and another 30 minutes for our order. Hubby ordered a cheese quesadilla which was descent at best. These places differ from traditional comedy clubs in the sense that they are corporately owned and this shines through in the way the place is run and in the acts they bring in. A lot of privately owned comedy clubs will take chances on the acts they bring in. They will also tend to build relationship with their clientele to increase repeat business. Places like the Funny Bone are mostly interested in the bottom line of the business. Some regard this as bad because it places the business ahead of the artists' interest, but at the same time, this affords comedians a way to make a real living. Were it not for this fact, many comics would never have a chance to make it. The food isn't wonderful, but so what? It's adequate for a comedy club. The appetizers are decent--it's hard to mess up cheese sticks or nachos. The drinks are definitely overpriced, but this is often par for the course for chain comedy clubs, especially ones in the Virginia Beach Town Center. The service is really good though; the servers honestly do an awesome job of navigating packed clubs and helping people out. Further, the rest of the staff is very friendly, and the Funny Bone certainly exceeds in customer service and satisfaction. read more

My first few experiences were not very good at all. I was unlucky enough to get the same awful server the first 2 visits but I assume she no longer works there since I've been a bunch after and it has significantly gotten better with no sign of her. If you sign up with their text club, you get free ticket opportunities quite often. These are the only times I go and they are for comedians I've never heard of but they are always the best! I saw Tom Arnold once and lord, I'd rather watch paint dry than see that man do stand up. If you order a cocktail, you get to keep the glass which is nice since the prices are a bit high. Try to get there early to sit near the front as the comedians often pick on you and that's pretty fun! The funnel cake fries are the BOMB and the food is pretty decent. GRATUITY IS INCLUDED!! (I believe 18%) It is printed on the check but if you are paying in cash it wont be big and bold like paying with a card and seeing the "additional tip" spot. read more

This is the most poorly managed comedy club I've ever seen. I was yelled at within a few minutes of arriving, I witnessed waiters yelling at each other, a manager taking orders while other staff stands around uselessly. I arrived early and waited outside for a bit after purchasing my ticket. When I walked in there was no line. I started to walk toward where the entrance to the show, as I saw an usher waiting there, and was promptly screamed at by a man to wait to be checked in. He was off in the corner with a few other guests and I hadn't seen him. Though he was rude, I decided to apologize as I hadn't noticed them there or seen any indication I had to be checked in since I had already purchased my ticket. He then said "Oh we would have caught you before you went too far" which was already an incredibly rude thing to say to a paying customer, but his tone didn't help. I was then escorted upstairs with a few others, where a waiter yelled at the employee that brought us up to stop bringing people up. This was in front of about 10 guests. The young woman was then (understandably) angry but it's a little uncomfortable for employees to start arguing in front of guests. I decided to leave before the show started because the show sold out before my friends could get tickets. I was told by an employee that I would have to talk to the manager if I wanted a refund. No problem. Oh but wait-- the manager was taking food orders at tables while other non-managers were sitting around. Why is the manager taking food orders? Why are other employees just sitting? I have no idea. It was made pretty clear to me that I wouldn't get a refund even though the show hadn't started as the employee told me "Good luck." I decided to leave without my $15 just to get out of such a disastrously-run place. I hope another comedy club opens up here so Funny Bone can learn how to treat paying customers-- don't yell at paying adults like delinquents and don't argue in front of them to start. I think they have no incentive to change without competition, and it's a real shame. read more

I've been to the Funny bone before but I'm so excited that I went with a group of friends this time . The show was amazing and the food was so good. I always get skeptical when previous reviews say the food is hit or miss. The food tonight was a HIT. I didn't take pictures because they said absolutely no phones allowed for taking photos/videos. But my husband and I ordered the chicken strips and spinach dip, so much yesssss to the dip. Aries Spears was a phenomenal comedian and hit the nail on the head with each topic he spoke about. I didn't care for the opening act so much. Overall great show, good food. My only complaint was our waitress wasn't as attentive as I hoped for, we still left a 20 percent tip for okay service. We came here to see Anjelah Johnson's Stand up which was pretty good. It was PACKED TO THE MAX here but it seems like they handled it as well as they could've. I still felt a little claustrophobic, we had four people at a table. The server was very attentive and kind. Since we came from dinner, we just ordered drinks which were served on time. This was my first experience with the funny bone. I have mixed feelings about going back. The only options for saving your ticket are to download to apple wallet or screenshot so I downloaded to my apple wallet. It appeared in my apple wallet and I checked and the amount was deducted from my back account, so I thought everything was good to go. When we arrived it was not in my apple wallet anymore so they tried to look me up by my name which I also entered when purchasing the tickets, but my name was not on the list either or any name remotely close to mine. I checked my apple wallet expired passes also and it did not appear anywhere in my apple wallet. Good news was that we were able to see the show since I had my online bank statement showing the deduction. There were no other shows with open seats so it would have been impossible that I just selected the wrong show. Apple wallet issue ok maybe a glitch but the fact that my name was also not listed is kinda suspect and sketchy especially since i had to enter it in order for them to deduct from my back account. I will use the screen shot option next time if I decide to go back. I was ok since we got in even though I was embarrassed in front of my friends by the ticket issue. The comic was great, I laughed pretty much all night. We ordered a chicken quesadilla (13.00 on the menu, added on some fries For 6.00 got some mushrooms for 8.00 and I got an angry orchard for 6.50) it was dark so I didn't really see the check until the waiter ran my card. He came back and he had charged me 63.23. I should have said something but I was already embarrassed about the ticket issue, it was 11 pm so I was tired, and I just paid it to avoid making a scene in front of my friends. The website says they charge 15% gratuity off the top. 18% for larger parties. I had a party of 2 on my tab and only 4 at my table. That still doesn't add up even at 18%. My food purchase was only 35.50 + food tax...so a 15% should have only been about 5.00 and some change for gratuity so about 40.00 not 63.00. My other 2 friends were charged their own tab and their food and drinks were more than an extra 20.00 so that was not the issue either. I'm still debating if I will ever visit this venue again because of the issues. The venue itself was great. We were seated in the back but it's small so we could see quite clearly and the comic was hilarious. I am leery because of the ticket issues that are kinda suspicious and then the overcharges which were ridiculous. The positive was that the lady at the front didn't make a huge deal and we got in but the ticket issues themselves and my name not appearing on the guest list at all, then being pretty overcharged on my tab may prevent me from visiting this venue again. read more

Been here several times for a show. Located in VB Towncenter near the fountain. Bought and received FREE tickets up to 6 people, which are awesome to go with a group of friends to drink, eat, and laugh your butt off. Entertainment is great, bc they get some really good comedians every once and awhile, and they post future comedy acts. Food is a bit pricey, but are pretty good, especially when you are drinking an having a good time. On the downside, I ultimately hate their dining area with their tables and chairs. First of all, they are all small and not as comfortable. Secondly, there is barely any space to move around, bc when you pull out your chair you hit the next table's chairs, especially near the half partition wall. It felt like they crammed as many tables and chairs to get more seating. There are several times when I see a waiter serving drinks and accidentally get it knocked over bc they unintentionally got nudged by a customer or another waiter. There should be more of an allowance to walk around, wasn't really space planned well. The place is ADA compliant with ramps and an elevator, but it doesn't accommodate ADA turnarounds in the dining area.You want to feel comfortable in sitting while eating and drinking, not having to worry about hitting a stranger next to you. Believe it or not I prefer watching in the very back on the high top tables, which weren't as bad, bc they have tons of room to move around. I hope one day they change out there dining furniture. Towncenter is growing slowly, so I know they are bound to change it out. read more

We waited over thirty minutes (6:45 pm) to be seated even though it said 6:15 on their website. Secondly, our Groupon didn't get accepted by the box office because it was a "special engagement." If that's the case, why did the representative on the phone recommend that for our first time, we should bring our Groupon and come to the World Cup Tour Comedy Show. We asked to talk with the manager on staff. They even made us buy our tickets again! From the moment she approached us, she had an attitude.
