This is the first time that we had been to this location. I like this building and the large parking lot. Inside the building a beautiful full bar greeted the attendees of the Marlon Wayans comedy show. It was nice to grab a beverage while we waited for the interior venue doors to open. The seating was tight because the show was sold out but we were very comfortable at our table. The acoustics of the room were great. The entire lineup of comedians were enjoyable. The food was delicious and the server was great. We will be back. A great night watching Marlon Wayans. read more

Went to the new Funny Bone location for the Desi Banks show and... whew. What a logistical circus. First things first: Desi Banks himself was funny. No complaints there. The man delivered. There were also two openers (one being the host), and they were fine, but honestly after the night we had, they should have cut one of the opening acts. By the time the show actually started, the crowd had already been through enough. Doors were supposed to open at 9 for the 9:45 show. I arrived around 9:20. The parking lot was already full so I had to park in the Target lot. When I got to the line, it was long... and not moving at all. 9:45 came and went and we were still standing in the exact same place. Eventually someone asked what was going on and we found out the 7pm show was still going on inside. That's why they weren't letting anyone in yet. Around 10pm the first show finally started letting out and the line crept forward. My group didn't actually get into the building and seated until about 10:25. About 10 minutes later the server came to take orders. I ordered a margarita. I'm fairly certain the tequila missed its flight and never made it into the glass because it tasted like straight juice. Asked for water and the server said she'd bring bottles with cups of ice to pour them into. The water came out... but the cups of ice never made their appearance. Not a huge deal, but still. Drinks came fairly quickly, thankfully before the show started. The people in my group who ordered food, however, did not receive it until after midnight even though everything was ordered around 10:30. Understandably, they were not thrilled. Our server also rarely checked back on us. When the show ended at 1am (yes... 1am), the lights came on and we were all just sitting there waiting because none of us had gotten our checks yet. It felt like the entire table was just staring at each other wondering what the protocol was. The server came by a few times saying she'd be right back, but the checks took forever. I'm sure plenty of people probably just left. Honestly, this place desperately needs a QR code ordering and payment system because the current setup clearly cannot handle a full crowd. We didn't finally get out of there until about 1:20am just because we waited to pay. The server was slightly apologetic, but no discounts or anything were offered after a pretty chaotic night. Came to the new Funny Bone location to see Desi Banks! This is my first show at the new location, but I have been going to Funny Bone for years! We came for the 9:45 show. Doors were supposed to open at 9. We got there at 9:22 and doors didn't open until 10:20. The show didn't start til almost 11 and still had 2 opening acts. We had a party of 6 and all ordered drinks and food. I had a margarita and it tasted like straight juice for $14. Our food never came despite our waitress telling us at almost midnight it was "coming right now." By 12:30, we still didn't have our food. When we finally got our food, I immediately asked for a box. I never got one and had to ask 3 times before finally getting one after the show was over and the place was cleared out. At a little after 1, we were still inside, the absolute last part there STILL waiting to pay. We did end up getting our food free of charge. The menu says parties of 8+ would have automatic gratuity, but our checks still had added gratuity. At that point, I didn't even have the energy to question it. The waitress had every excuse on why things went the way they went, but she hardly ever came to our table. If she did, she would have realized way sooner we never got our food and possibly fixed the situation sooner. The new Funny Bone is nice. It is much larger and more spacious, but the service is POOR. It seems the staff is unable to accommodate a much larger crowd. Also, parking is terrible. If you get there late, expect to have to park around the corner at Kohls or Target. They do offer valet parking for $10. I have never had such a poor Funny Bone experience and I have been going every few months for years! They definitely have some work to do at this new location! Perhaps more time between the shows and being honest and real about times. Doors open at 7:45 for a show at 8:30. Fortunately we were there early and in the beginning of the line but the line was looooongggg!!!!!! I would hate for it to be cold or raining. The doors did not open at 7:45. We were seated at a table for 4. I felt like everyone at our table was on a United flight in seat 34B. It was cramped!!!!!! Definitely not enough room. Sardines. And the bathrooms are a long way away. Not very handicapped accessible. Fortunately we had no problems with food or drinks. Service was good. The food is what you would expect. Fries.....kind of soggy and limp. And we got the nachos. Would I l go back? Yes....if there was a comedian I really wanted to see. This was a huge mistake. As soon as this one night show was announced I bought tickets. The comedians in the Stone Cold and the Jackal Show were actors I watch regularly on a television series. What fun it would be to see them do a live comedy show where they play very serious characters. It was distressing when my skin cancer surgery was scheduled for the day before the Funny Bone show. Knowing my son was coming for the surgery I bought a ticket for him knowing he would be able to keep me safe. That wasn't the case due to the business's lack of preparation for an almost sold out show at a larger venue. The new location is a beautiful large space, much improved from their previous location overlooking the plaza at Town Center. The Pembroke Square space, just across Virginia Beach Boulevard from the old location, has a spacious, large seating area. There isn't a bad seat in the house unless there's a large head blocking your view. Our table for four was on a wide aisle with great leg space. The big problem came from the fact that the club hadn't planned well for or adjusted to handling a full house in the much larger venue. It was obvious when we arrived early to find a long line for their valet parking staffed by only two employees. I'm not sure what my son told them when he walked from the vehicle to the valet stand. It must have been an explanation of my medical condition because an extremely nice attendant shortly came to my vehicle and told us he would take us now. I'm not sure whether that turned out to be a good or bad thing. There was an extremely long line in cold blowing wind with no attention at all paid to assist handicapped people. My son held onto my arm trying to protect my hand. In the line in front of our party I saw a woman using a walker and another in a wheelchair. Not good! It was such a relief to finally get inside. Our server came promptly to take our food order. It was a typical menu similar to Cinema Cafes accessed by a QR code posted on the table. I had checked it ahead of time on line to find finger food that I could eat with my left hand, since the other was immobilized from surgery, The order was taken on a digital device. Everything seemed good......at the time. The problem was that the food never came. As the time passed both the tables around me & I started to question our server, who was busy running the charge cards for the people across the aisle. Just before the show ended the man at the table next to mine told our server to cancel his food order, After the show ended my server came to the table, apologized & said the soft drinks we had received were comped. The poor man at the next table asked me "Does this mean I don't have to pay for drinks either?" It was total confusion, To make things worse the show was bad. One of the actors was funny. The other should stick to his TV role. The end was excruciatingly bad. They asked for words from the audience, which they plugged into what was supposed to be a funny script, but wasn't. By the end of the debacle my hand was really hurting. My son told me to stay at the table while he navigated the valet line. He left to do that. To our surprise what appeared to be a kitchen employee brought our food order in 5 big takeout boxes, which we couldn't possibly get outside in 2 plastic bags. I texted my son, who then parked my vehicle he had just gotten from valet. He came back inside to take the food, me & my heavy, heavy purse holding the 3 souvenir glasses you had to buy to get the unlimited refills that we didn't need since we got no food. It was a relief to get home, have a late dinner and take 2 pain pills. Needless to say I forgot to take a picture of the food. The sweet potato fries were very good. The chicken strips had WAY too much breading. It will be a long time (if ever) before I go to Funny Bone again. read more

Was able to check out the new location watching Felipe Esparza. Well worth the price of tickets. Love that the new location is on one floor and the setup is a bit better, just wish all the tables were like the bar style facing forward. It's uncomfortable watching sideways even after altering your seat and shifting your body. The food wasn't the best and wish they had more fresh items on the menu. Our waiter was not too great. He kept mixing up our drinks with the couple that sat with us and seemed irritated by his own mistake. We had to correct him literally 5 times that the couple didn't get a bottle of wine and that the glass of wine on our bill wasn't ours. He didn't ask if we were done with our food nor if we wanted a box and instead just grabbed it after we paid. The new location is really nice and easily accessible. I think they should get rid of the $10 valet parking service, as it's not necessary--people just want a quick laugh, drink, and bite to eat. There is plenty of parking nearby within a short walk. The food prices are a bit high, for example, $17 for 8 buffalo wings, $16 for a regular-sized burger, and $11 for gourmet fries. Still, all the food was delicious. I would return to see a well-known comedian but not an up-and-coming one, due to the menu prices. The service was excellent and very attentive. The seating arrangement was honestly very unpleasant. Having to turn the chair sideways to face the stage while your food remained off to the side made the experience feel extremely awkward and uncomfortable. The chairs themselves were also not very comfortable and became painful after sitting for an extended period. In addition, the tables were packed so tightly together that even small movements risked bumping into the people seated in front of or behind you--many of whom you didn't even know. Went to the funny bone last weekend and had a good time seeing luenell. I was a little sad she wasn't as funny as i expected her to be. I went to the second show of the night, which started at 945, so we had to wait outside a while until they got the room together. While it thankfully wasn't that cold out that night; the weather is definitely changing and had it been cold out, i would've been upset. Usually the service is fairly quick, however this show i feel like my server was gone for quite some time. I do really enjoy going to see comedy shows here but what i dislike the most, is how tight the tables and chairs are. It's hard to have room, especially if you're near strangers. We will never patronize this location ever again. My husband and I had tickets for 2/14/2026 to see Tony Rock. We arrived early and looked forward to having a wonderful time. Every parking spot we pulled up to, 2 young men (supposed Valet) would run up to the parking spot and drop a cone, enabling us from parking. It happened for 3 different spots. So my husband rolled the window down and asked "so are you going to take all the parking spots?" One young man replied "people started arriving early, so we didn't have a chance to set up the parking lot." The other young man said "If you pay us 10.00, you can park." My husband replied "we have been coming to Funny Bone for years, but you will never have to worry about us coming back ever again." I've been to the Funny Bone quite a few times and every time has been an enjoyable experience so when I saw the advertisements for Guy Torry, I definitely wanted to see him. Thankfully, I'm on their emailing list and was able to get the tickets for a discounted price. Once we arrived for the 7:30pm show, we waited in a very brief line before being seated. The menus are within the QR Codes on the tables so once we scanned the code, we were able to view what items we wanted. We decided to do burgers and margaritas while we enjoyed the show. I chose the Fire Burger which was absolutely amazing (highly recommend) and the drinks were great as well. The opening comedians were pretty funny and Guy Torry was great, we were laughing the entire time. Unfortunately, the area we were sitting in had very close seating so the waiters continuously apologized for bumping our tables/chairs as they were bringing out food. The area was very dark as well, so it made it hard for them to see tables and we even struggled with seeing our food when we received it. If that area could be a little more lit, I'm sure it would help the waiters greatly. Let me start by saying that I have been to the Funny Bone in the old location many times. I was excited not just for the Stone Cold and Jackal show, but to check out the new location. The show was hysterically funny and I highly recommend it. The venue on the other hand was a big unorganized mess. We got there at 6:45. Doors were supposed to open at 6:30 but there was a line down the sidewalk waiting to get in. It barely moved. They did not have enough staff to seat people quickly to get the line moving. We ordered a pretzel, boneless wings and mozzarella sticks. We ordered right before the show started but we didn't get our food until the last sketch in the show. Almost 2 hours later. They did remove the wings and soda from the bill but that meant I didn't get my glass, which I always do. I love those glasses. Then we were still eating as they lined us up for the photo ops. Parking was also a mess. There is a lot of construction still so I ended up parking by Rack Room shoes. We came to Funny Bone to see Adele Givens (who was absolutely hilarious, by the way!) and arrived early to make sure we were there when the doors opened since seating is first come, first served. I came with a group of 11 people, and although we didn't all arrive at the same time, we made sure to have everyone's ticket so we could sit together. Our host and waitress were both very nice and accommodating, which we appreciated. The only downside was the seating. It was a bit tight for a large group like ours, and we were told we couldn't pull tables together, which made it a little tricky to sit comfortably as a party. Still, we made it work! Disappointed is the word I would use to describe my experience. I frequented the FunnyBone prior to their move. I decided I would check out their new space. When I arrived I had them valet park my car only to stand in line for 45 minutes no explanation. Once I got in, I ordered a drink two appetizers and a burger. My drink came right away and it was tasty, however my food and along with about a quarter of the other patrons food NEVER came. The waiter came over and said they were having problems in the kitchen and if I get my food I get it and if I don't, there's nothing he can do. I asked to speak with the manager because I was totally shocked had never had this happen in any food establishment or club. He said the manager was too busy to speak with I asked for card 20 minutes later he came out with it. I feel like I have to share that he didn't tell me we were all not going to get serviced until the last comedian came on about 15 minutes into his act. So they had me wait all that time with nothing to do but listen to some dry jokes and drink. Every time I've gone here, I always think they're having technician difficulties. I hate that this is our only "major" comedy club in the area, because it's really poorly maintained. I've been at least three times over the last 8 years (two of those times pre covid), and every single comedian has had issues with their mic not working or working and then not working mid joke. The bathrooms in the ladies room were all, how do I say this- not disgusting, but needed a handyman in there to fix some things ASAP. The first door doesn't lock, so you have to hold it or let everyone watch you use the toilet. The toilet paper dispensers were either barely hanging on or on the floor. There was no toilet paper in the middle stall halfway through the night (do they stock it before a show, which would be the smartest thing to do?). When the show began, we could literally hear the staff talking loudly at the doors. They had already shut the doors to the lobby area, but they chose to talk on the inside area where the comedy show was and then proceed to walk out the doors. That happened for a few minutes before walking out. Rude. Then towards the end of the show, but with ten minutes left, two staff members (both men) stood in the corner near our table and were talking loudly DURING THE SHOW. It was so distracting, and I was mad to miss a couple jokes! I will say that discussion was brief, but I was still like WTF. Rude to not only the patrons, but also the comedian. Positive: the staff seemed very polite in the beginning and our server, Jessica, was very sweet, and our food (pretzels sticks, sweet potato fries, & fried pickle spears) & drinks (margaritas for me, and some citrus martini for my GF) were good. The vibe overall just felt disrespectful honestly- to the comedians & to the patrons. I'll continue to go here, for lack of other options in the local area, but I'm gonna expect a mediocre experience every time from now on. I know Funny Bone is a national chain, so it makes me wonder if any district or higher ups ever come check on this one randomly. I just hate that we "get what we get" because there are no other options around. It would be so easy to do better (and again, these are the same exact things I've experienced here before covid). They obtained a new/larger space and still have the tables/chairs ON TOP OF EACH OTHER.. like so uncomfortably close.. would only be comfortable if every person in attendance was a size zero. I've worked in hospitality my whole life, if the show isn't sold out I think it's fair to space the tables in the front section a bit more for comfortability.. or let parties of 2 have their own table. I bought 4 tickets to not share a table but they said if 1-2 more people weren't with our party we still had to sit with another couple. I understand that for promotion purposes they want it to look packed in the front but between the size of people in general and its winter/winter coats.. it was TIGHT. As the primary place to see comedians, this place is decent. I've come a couple of times in the summer and it was so hot in there (to the point of being uncomfortable. I ordered a drink that was supposed to have rum in it. Malibu Rum was suggested to me but when the drink came I couldn't taste the Rum? When I googled it I learned that it isn't a rum but it is a liquor. Only 21% alcohol. The puree was gross and I paid $22 for this. It was also supposed to be frozen but it was served as a liquid. This place needs to work on time management; we were here at 9p as suggested on the ticket to be standing outside for 30+ minutes. It was not warm outside (Friday night) and 30 mins before the show we were still at the door waiting to be let in. It's been about 4-5 years since I last came here and it will be another long time because not only do they keeping you waiting in the elements outside they cramp everyone in like sardines inside. I could stretch my legs under the table if I wanted too without fear of kicking the couple across from me I didn't know. The space is inadequate for hosting large crowds. Paid $120 for a VIP table for two people to share with another couple (2 ppl). You share half a table that's not 3ft wide. Soon as we were allowed into the establishment the floors were sticky and dirty and I had on boots so it didn't make me even want to purchase a drink from the bar which made me super happy we ate at Bahama Breeze prior to the show having caught the late 10p showing. The only saving grace to our night at this horribly ran establishment was the fact the main comedian KevOnStage was hilariously funny and so were the two comedians who opened for him. I just wish he could've been anywhere else but the Funny Bone. I'd love to see Jess Hilarious this coming week but I won't subject myself to this poor treat again anytime soon.
