A fine two story FREE art gallery with plenty of variety to suit all of your abstract and…read morefigurative taste. You may buy most (if not all) of the pieces-the prices are listed next to the piece. A lot of the pieces have won awards. When I went the owner/artist was working on a sculpture. The staff are very friendly and let us take our time walking around. Go and enjoy it was a treat!

The other conundrum was missing the location. I got out of work early and was very much intent on visiting so I drove very slowly looking for it and I still missed it. So watch carefully and put your turn signal on early. I'm so glad that I finally made it here. The amount of beautifully crafted fine art on display astounds me. There are so many pieces in here but it does not feel overwhelming or cluttered in this multi-level gallery. The art is varied, so many different mediums and subject matters. The art is stunning, beautifully curated; I'm in awe of the skill of these amazing artists and disappointed that I haven't come sooner. What did I miss on display 6 months ago? A year ago? After an inquiry, the lovely lady at the front desk informs me that the items on display partially turn over about every three months, and after 6 months pretty much everything is new. I'm really excited to see what will be here later this year. I appreciate Deborah taking the time to chat with me twice, upstairs she gave me a little background on an artist whose work I was admiring (Jordan) and downstairs chatting about my background and my desire to be more creative and do more art. If you are an appreciator of fine art come in and peruse. If you are looking for a beautiful piece for your home, office or for a gift come prepared to buy. Pieces most liked from visit#1: Turtle Sea, Finnesse, and this lost wax cast bronze woman/angel on a rotating base (she's on display twice because she can be cast with or without wings).

My friend and I stumbled across this treasure trove of (literal) trash crafted into art on the…read moresecond floor of MacArthur Mall. We were killing time in the mall before the haunted place downstairs opened. My curiosity grew strong, as I was mesmerized by the colors and weirdness of it. I had to know what this was. It probed me to ask more questions with the urgency to seek answers. The gentleman informed me that it is an immersive art experience. I am a sucker for some immersive art. The seller for me was him being so straight faced and his dedicated commitment to convincing me that he was possibly a resident or may have had a friend that was from Garbage Town. It was either going to be $10 of très cool or a $10 regret. You will be advised to read the signs, which we did and you should too if you choose this mission to visit Garbage Town. Trust me, it will enhance the experience and make everything more clear. It is a macabre satire of the world's wasteful attitude. The world's inadequate collection of trash and improper disposal is portrayed in the installations. It forces one to open their eyes because the sizable amount of trash you're meandering through is right in front of you, not hidden out of sight. Garbage Town is where the rejected and excluded reside, a place where the "no longer wanted " inhabit. It brings to light the social injustices and issues that arise from this "throw away" mentality. There were installations that were quite humorous, but sad at the same time because there is truth to it. Garbage Town is a thought provoking experience that is impactful, if even for a moment for some. At the conclusion, you're left to decide whether you will choose to side with the sheep or the goat. The sheep and the goat are purposefully and respectively placed with the sheep on the right and the goat on the left. The sheep brightly lit, the goat placed in the dark among a red stained wall. It is a parable biblical reference to separate the sheep from the goats. In a sarcastic and facetious undertone, there is a small sign stating "it's not that serious -it's only your future". The sheep and goat are symbolic. Choose the sheep, you choose compassion and eternal life, hence the sheep is white and a light is illuminating it. Choose the goat, and you choose eternal judgment because of your choice to be stubborn, evil, & destructive. It's a powerful statement. This experience is deeper than it looks! Perhaps the gentleman, who happens to be the lead of this project wasn't acting after all? Maybe we are all part of the Garbage Town community, but we have not realized it? You might want to pause for some self reflection. Final take, it's a $10 experience that is in actuality, invaluable.

The exhibit is a very creative way to make an important point. Take a walk through and check it…read moreout. Staff were wonderful, too! There is a gift shop, as well, that has some really unique finds.

His work is so unknown and we are all doing ourselves a GREAT injustice by not visiting his studios. A humble man he is, and has a passion for God, Art, and giving back to the community. His current location is still in the works, however the art is availale for view. I can not begin to describe this place. All I can say is you should visit with an open mind and art. The history I learned by viewing his and other artist work is unexplainable and unbelievable.....the work is so passionate, accurate and will have you leaving with a sense of love for are that you have never experienced before. He and his artist love what they do and are passionate in sharing it with the world. Please, if you are ever in Hampton, and you're inspired to see some unknown, art, history and culture of this country. Go and visit his studios. You will not be disappointed. Be sure and tell him that Vance and Inez sent you. I hope he remembers me. Oh, take your kids. They will be highly satisfied.
