This is one of my favorite spots in Marlborough. They carry some awesome beer (Wormtown, Jack's Abbey, Greenhead), the food is great (plus some yummy specials each week), and the staff is FANTASTIC. You'll feel taken care of at the bar, for sure. Every bartender is attentive, fun, and awesome at their job. As a sports fan and a beer lover, this is one of the better things to have happened to Marlborough in a while. Zero complaints here. read more

Falling fast. Went in saturday p.m. sat at the bar with my wife and 2 friends. Bartender comes over "what are you drinking" my initial response is hi, how are you tonight.. good he says, what are you drinking... There were 3 bar tenders, 2 could not keep their eyes off college football. The other is rude. The idea of bar tending is to draw the people in, be friendly, be polite, be personable. Not a great visit to say the least. Very slow and non attentive with football on. Not busy either, im very patient when i know someone is behind and busy. These 3 had no interest. Food qas ok. Steak over cooked- went back. Fish tacos were great. I say go in day time for good service and see Gina, excellent, personable, efficient...a great bartender Ownership needs to work on the staffs understanding of why they are there. read more

This place needs bar rescue. Great space, great location, good food, absolutely no management. I live down the street and the few times I've been I've been ignored for at least 30 min each time. They don't do sections it's a complete free for all, and no one helps eachother out. Pretty disappointing I'd be a regular if It were better. read more

Called in before we came from a work Conference. 4 of us got here right at 10:59. They spent 5 min serving drinks to the rest of the party. When the waiter came back over he said he could not serve us. The manager said the same thing. The other food has not even come out for the other 12 guests so the kitchen staff was still here. I don't understand why they would want to decline business if the cooks are still here. The whole point of having a restaurant is to sell food. They still have not even asked for my drink order and it's now 11:16. I was in the Marlborough area, and in desperate need of a great eat-in restaurant for a quick, delicious lunch. Even though this place didn't seem to have great reviews the location (of downtown Marlborough) and the name hooked me into stopping by. Plus, the outdoor vibe with the open windows was undeniably awesome, and made this place so comfortable. At first glance, Funky Murphy's has a great look from the outdoor (on Main St), when you round the corner into the parking lot, the feeling changes. Being in a small, old, strip plaza with an auto parts store, it doesn't seem desirable. But don't worry, my five star rating is true... this place is worth it. And definitely don't make the poor choice to leave if you don't like the older look of the parking lot (sure they should do a re-pave of the lot....) or the fact it's next to an older looking auto store. The best things about Funky Murphy's are the indoor-outdoor windows (I don't know what you are supposed to exactly call them... they are those windows that open up completely to create an indoor-outdoor atmosphere.... better lighting and great breeze on certain days), the "seat yourself" policy.... isn't great to choose where you want to sit in comparison to having your seat chosen for you. Personally, the half booth / half seated tables are great, and the tables by the windows are my favorite. The other great thing is how it's barely ever busy at lunchtime (on a Saturday!) and you have the entire restaurant to yourself. Waitresses and waiters are friendly and the restaurant is kept in great condition to keep the modern sports bar vibe they wanted when they opened. Prices are fair and the menu is large and has sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads, and a full menu of appetizers too. Nachos (on the appetizer menu) and the loaded burger are both superb options for your dining experience here. I thought they were both delicious, and sort of different in comparison to other restaurants (isn't it nice to find someplace with different flavor?). The only annoying thing about this place was the fact that the receipt read "Marlborough MA 02021".... should be 01752. Sort of annoying. Definitely a great restaurant in Marlborough Center, and even though I'm not from the area (and haven't tried any other restaurants right around here) I would say this is probably the best sports bar type of place in Marlborough. 5 stars. read more

We went today for lunch . It was a pleasant surprise . The tables were spaced out nicely which is important these days . It was a hot day and it was very comfortable in there , a nice atmosphere . The waitress said it was five dollar pizza day so we ordered one . It was delicious . We also ordered the pretzels for an app . They were a little chewy but not bad . It was lunch so my wife just got a burger and I got the Dublin dip which was kind of like sliders . Both lunches were great . The prices were reasonable also . The service was a little slow but we weren't in a hurry . Overall we enjoyed this place . We will definitely go back for lunch or dinner soon . read more

Myself and 2 friends went there for my birthday, we each had 3 drinks, one of my friends was talking to random people and myself and other friend were playing keno, we were very friendly and respectful. For no reason at all the bartender shuts us off after 3 drinks each. We spent I've $100 on food and the 9 beers. He said he couldn't serve us cuz we already cashed out. After we cashed out "I" decided "I" wanted one more drink. I had the 3 caronas and that was it. I'm not a big drinker and I'm a very quiet person so why he shut us off is beyond me. Inconsistent service. Went once a few months ago and had a great time, but recently went on a relatively quiet night and saw a sign that said wait to be seated. We stood there for about 5 minutes and no one came. We proceeded to try to make eye contact with passing waiters (who could clearly see us) and were ignored by several staff members. Walked in with a friend and waited by the door for a few minutes, thought maybe on this Sunday a host would seat us however there was none. Finally we decided to just pick a table. A girl came over for our drink order before we were given any menus. Virtually no vegetarian options, everything comes with meat. I ordered a Caesar salad. At the bottom it stated your choice of chicken or blackened chicken. When I had said Caesar salad the waitress did not ask about how I wanted a protein or if I wanted one so I assumed saying Caesar salad opposed to "chicken Caesar" May have made a difference, but it didn't. (My mistake) Not that big of a deal however I was slightly shocked to see the salad brought out with chicken and surprised I'm sure I looked like an idiot just staring at the plate In her hand. She noticed and offered to take the plate back for them to remake without the chicken. Haphazardly I obliged. I knew that they prob were not going to remake the salad... as being a restaurant worker before I know the gamete. I waited a couple minutes and the salad was back on the table. As I was eating I saw small chunks of chicken skin in the salad. Honestly I probably wouldn't have cared so much if they didn't say they would REMAKE the salad, but like I said I knew that was doubtful. I picked through my salad analyzing every crouton that could have looked like a piece of chicken. I hope and suggest that in the future they will provide some vegetarian options my star rating is because I can't really eat anything off their menu. One other time I came with the same friend I had sat at the bar and the bartender came over for our food order and I informed there sadly was no options for me on the menu as I was vegetarian and he scoffed telling me I came to the wrong place then. Place is decent at best. Average to slightly below average sports bar. Have been here several times since it is one of about 3 bars in the area open late. Food and drinks are ok but the service is really hit or miss. Seems like the wait staff weren't given proper training or the correct resources. Went in this afternoon for a late lunch and ordered a burger and wanted rice instead of fries and was told it would be a 3$ up charge??? Never heard of an up charge for substituting rice for fries. Sorry just thought that was a bit ridiculous. It wasn't busy and the cost of rice vs. fries for them isn't much different, i know I was in that biz. I was told its an up charge to substitute anything for the fries i.e. coleslaw,veg. Excuse me for trying to make my burger a little healthier. I love this place I really do. The facilities are always clean, the menu is simple and the food is well prepared. They offer trivia and other fun things and have great views of multiple screens (including a large projector screen). The drinks are great too. As much as I LOVE the staff, the manager... A bald headed man (Unsure of his name) is a HUGE problem. I went with my girlfriend and a friend of ours a few times. We played trivia, got drinks, and had some amazing wings. He prepared my drink incorrectly and for the sake of the waitress, I said nothing. He came over and kept touching my shoulder after I had made it clear a few times and the previous times I was in that he was too close and he needed to back off. When I finally asked him not to touch me he made a joke about him knowing I was gay and that he wasn't trying to quote "sleep with me." After that He walked away. The next time we saw him he made homophobic comments towards me and my girlfriend. He overheard a conversation between me and my party about how my sisters bridal party had started a group text and it was getting on my nerves because it was causing my phone to ding a bunch of times. Without invitation, he walked up to our table and stood way too close to another one of my friends, then proceeded to tell us that quote "all women are over emotional, that's why they can't get anything done." He also said that "You never hear of drama with groomsmen. That's why you all need men." I played that off because he clearly wouldn't care about my opinion. But then I heard the cliche "Women should just get back to the kitchen" along with two more homophobic comments and SLURS I won't even bother mentioning. That pushed me over the edge and I asked him politely if he could let us return to our drinks and enjoy our night. He didn't get the hint so I asked him if he would please excuse us. He walked away and very clearly muttered "Bitches" under his breath. We promptly paid and left. I have seen him treat his employees like trash. He is arrogant and disrespectful to patrons and customers. I have heard him telling people they didn't tip enough. I have watched him make not only my table incredibly uncomfortable, but others as well. This bar is one of my favorite places. I understand that not everyone is going to be okay with LGBT+ people. To each their own. But the only reason the comments were made were because I had asked him not to touch me. I didn't know him. I had spoken with him once (and very briefly). The moment I explained I wasn't comfortable with being touched his tone changed. He was angry like I had done something to wrong him. This is a fabulous bar. Everything about it is great, with the exception of this man. He is tainting the name. If the management is seeing this I would love to speak with you about everything because I want to continue coming here. Looking in the comments, I'm seeing that I am not the only one who has had problems with him. I held off on writing this because I don't want to effect the rest of the staff. Gina is the best!!! NEVER in a million years would I consider Gina a racist or rude. She does many fundraisers to support the local community and always goes above and beyond. In my opinion if you have a bad experience with the staff you should address it in person to the management. NOT on yelp where you a harming someone's character. read more

I like the tv's for sports but the layout is odd with a weird bar / table divider. It gets higher rating than maybe deserves as there isn't any competition in the area. It's a modern feel, and decent menu, but can be very slow at the table, and oddly even sitting at the bar. read more

Boy's night out at FM. My associates consumed various specialized brews and were most pleased. We (5 of us) started with the nachos which were good & large and consumed quickly. For our meals, we all had the surf 'n turf. The surf part was 4 good sized and fresh shrimp in a tasty sauce. The turf was ny sirloin steak, also very well cooked and quite tasty. Nachos were $11 as was the surf 'n turf (all entrees were $11 on Monday). Excellent service over a 2 hours visit. All in all, an unexpectedly great dining experience AND a bargain. read more

Bartender was the only wait staff on duty for a very busy night at the bar and restaurant when we arrived, but as soon as she saw us in our booth she came right over and stayed attentive to us for the length of our stay - very pleasant and did not seem to let the situation effect her service or attitude. When other staff arrived 20 minutes later, they too made sure to check on us and other guests routinely - very happy with the service. We went in on a crowded Friday night, but were able to get seats at the bar. We were a little hungry, so we got the mozzarella sticks and wings. Both were terrific and tasty. Moz sticks didn't come with boring marinara, but a garlic dipping sauce and another tasty sauce that I couldn't id (maybe sun dried tomato or roasted pepper?)- the sticks were even great plain. The wings were like mini ultra crispy southern fried chicken that came with a medium spicy buffalo sauce. Was more impressed with this place when it first opened. Unfortunately, each time I come back the service is worse and worse. Took 20 minutes before the waitress brought 3 drinks that were ordered immediately when we sat down. The beer came first, then the water several minutes later, and then finally the lemonade. Placed our order and then proceeded to watch a group of 4 come in, order, and receive their food while we sat waiting for another 10 minutes after they got their food. When the food did arrive (now 45 minutes after being seated) my order was wrong and it took another 10 minutes for my wings to come out. Never saw the waitress. Drinks sat empty, wanted more wings because they were good. Stupidity ordered more wings and waited another 20 minutes for them to come out. If I could give a half I would, only because they have a convenient location and nice large open front. No hostess as has been mentioned. Three in our party, and our waitress was pretty quick at coming to the table. Bar was busy but only 2 tables filled in restaurant so it was shocking thar it was vie ran hour for 3 sandwiches!! Had to cancel the chowder order, as it still hasn't arrived! The waitress was great about checking on refills for the soda, but never mentioned they were additional charges! So you refill half my glass and charge for another drink! The appetizer special, twisted pretzel was two frozen salted pretzels warmed and dusted with butter, dry and rubbery. The wraps were good, but again brushed in butter so difficult to eat and certainly not worth the hour wait! Unless you are going yo bar to watch a game there is NO reason to go inside! read more

Honestly most welcoming place I have ever been to. It's so hard to pick something to eat on their menu because everything is so delicious! It's a local place for me so I will always be coming back. Prices on the menu are very reasonable and they are open late everyday for drinks...so it's perfect. Anyone who has had a "bad" experience needs to realize that they aren't giving you a bad experience on purpose and you should come back again to give it a second chance. Cheers. read more
