I've been attending the circuit training class on Saturdays at 11 am. First, I appreciate the time - 11 am allows me to sleep in, and is early enough that it isn't in the middle of everything I need to get done. Second, its a really good workout. Omar, the instructor, organizes an exercise for each person in the class. You do the exercise for 1 minute, get a 15 second break and rotate, then start the next exercise. After you've completed all the exercises in the circuit you get a 1 minute break. Then you complete the circuit again until the hour is up. Third, the price is just right. $10 drop-in. I don't know what it is for gym members. Fourth, don't be misled by the exterior of the building. The interior is larger than expected, and quite clean. Saving the best for last - Omar is an amazing instructor. He obviously loves helping people be happy and fit. He's super professional. He is the nicest guy ever. He's cheering for you, literally, the entire workout. And he really pushes you to do your best. I highly recommend this gym. I'll see you next Saturday! read more

I have been training with Omar for the last 3 months to both improve my physique and increase my real strength (not just glamour muscles). As a result ever person I know has commented how much better I look. In addition, I feel incredible. I used to greet every day with 2 cups of coffee and then another around 11:00 am. Now, most days, I just take a morning shower and hit the day full stride. I met Omar because I compete in jiu-jitsu. Recently I competed in the advanced open-weight division. I have only been training for 3 years now and all of my opponents had over 8 years of training each. However I was able to completely dominate them. In fact none of my opponents were able to score a point on me. One of the main reasons is the training we have been doing over the last 3 months. Thanks to Omar I was significantly stronger and fitter than all of my opponents. As a result I has able to physically dominate people whom I would have quickly lost to otherwise. My fitness was so strong that after I returned from the tournament I grabbed my girlfriend and my dogs and went for a hike. I had the privilege of working with Omar to rehab a leg injury. 8 weeks prior to my very first Tough Mudder event I got a grade 2 strain in my calf muscle. The first thing that came to my mind immediately following the injury was that there was no way i was going to be able to participate in the TM event and my planned 35 miles of hiking in Zion. I was fortunate enough to have met Omar whose approach to rehabilitation was far superior to what my doctors recommended. After six weeks of stability, strength, and power training I was able to run 3 miles without any pain. This gave me the confidence that I could complete my training for TM. I was able to successfully complete TM and all obstacles, along with the planned hiking in Zion, with my calf feeling stronger than ever. I really enjoyed the time I spent at the Functional Core Fitness studio during my rehab sessions. The studio is very clean and well organized. All the trainers I met are very friendly and always offered words of encouragement along my path to rehabilitation. I started working with Lissy in July or August of last year and continued until I unfortunately had to move away for work. The gym is a small independent gym but it has everything you would need - a great variety of equipment. Lissy is great, I feel very lucky to have found her. She took care to go over my goals and spent time designing new workouts every week. No two were the same! Wow! I thought I was in shape from going to the gym by myself, outrigger paddling three times a week, and going for a jog every now and then. Boy was I wrong! After the first round (2 more to go) of circuit training I was warmed up and loving it! After the second round I was huffin and puffin! Omar is the best trainer you can ask for. I have been taking 1:1 sessions and attending his group classes for about a year and I have never felt so good. I'm mainly reviewing my trainer, Omar. I'm not a gym person so it is hard to rate the gym itself. The more important aspect I feel is the trainer(s) that you work with. I have had the pleasure of working with Omar for quite a few years now. I have had other trainers before and none yielded any results. They were quick to let me off the hook if I didn't feel like working out. Not Omar. Initially he would come to me with all the equipment which took any chance of me blowing off a workout out of the equation. Now I gladly drive to him. He makes working out as 'fun' as it could be. He is very knowledgable about the body and how it works so if you have an injury, he can work around it. If there is something he doesn't know, he will find out about it and he is very thorough. He is also great at mixing up the workouts so i don't get bored. We do all kinds of things from circuit classes to swimming workouts to playing tennis even. If you want to be in the best shape you can be, this is the guy to do it. read more

Omar has been great. I have been working out, coaching, and competing in sports my entire life and at 50 have built up some injuries especially in my shoulders. Omar has been helping me work out and work through a lot of scar tissue. he is like half personal trainer and half physical therapist. In my 25 years going to the gym I have seen many personal trainers and have never been too impressed with them nor have I had any great desire to work with one. I know how to work out and don't need some Ra Ra personal trainer just moving me from machine to machine. Omar is not like that he works with me on exercises specific to my needs and he is very good at finding my weaknesses. He is very vigilant in watching me do the exercises and making sure they are done correctly. He is extremely knowledgeable about the body and what needs to be done for each body part, and knows and has many different kinds of equipment so workouts don't get stale. Omar's workouts are helping me stay fluid in my movements and just simply being able to perform typical daily movements without those little pains here and there. The name "Functional Core Fitness" is very accurate. it's about working out to be physically fully functional as well as in good shape. read more
