With a small yard of weeds and crab grass, Deena walked with us, listened to us, and carefully researched our wish list and needs, all within our budget. She somehow NAILED IT and designed exactly what we envisioned- though it turned out better than we had even expected. We now cherish our yard and garden. The crew was awesome: talented craftspeople that were respectful, responsive and extremely hard working. We are over the moon with the artistic landscaped and hardscape outdoor world Contemporary Homestead created for our home. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

They were kind, allowed me to learn as they did their work and went above and beyond to make sure we ended up with a yard that we love. Our yard looks intentional now! Their communication made it seamless and enjoyable. In the last week we have already had several people stop and ask about our front yard and compliment it (which feels so nice!). We are excited to have Contemporary Homestead in our contacts and look forward to working with them on future projects.

Due to drops of water appearing on the exterior underside of the overhang below my kitchen sink I suspected a small leak. After researching plumbers I chose Ben's Plumbing based on their positive reviews and BBB accreditation, switching from the firm we had used several times in the past. Derek and Taylor arrived and were able to find the general area of the leak. In order to expose the pipes and pinpoint the leak, they concluded that a hole would need to be cut in the groove-and-tongue staggered planks that formed the underside of the overhang. Though they could cut the hole if I wished, they suggested that I have it done by a specialist for aesthetic reasons; Ben's could then return and fix the exposed pipe. I followed their suggestion. After the pipes were exposed I was able to locate the very wee leak. Ben's Plumbing then sent Derek and Taylor to do the repair. They did excellent work, and the total cost was very reasonable with no surprises. The office staff I communicated with (via text) to set up the two appointments, Michelle and Kiera, were a pleasure to deal with.

It is…read morelocated in an older building on N 35th, just off Fremont Ave. This library is in a two story building, but it looks like the library is on the top floor only. The selection here is sparse compared to the massive Central Library. It is smaller than the one in Ballard as well. Though the selection is small, you can request library items be sent to this library for pickup. There are a handful of computers to use if you need to look up something. There are a few tables on the right hand side as well as a row of chairs in the center of library for perusing books or using the free wi-fi. The hours at this library are limited. It doesn't open earlier than 11 am on any day and can open as late as 1 pm. As for the vibe, it is incredibly quiet. So much so that I feel like I have to keep quiet at all times. This has more to do with the smallness of the library since noises are more heightened. I like this library because it is in a great location in the center of the universe. Though if you are trying to find reading material, the Central Library downtown is a much better option. However, this would seem to be a good study space if you are looking for a place that is very quiet.

I love the library system and the design of cute neighborhood libraries (like this one)…read more This particular branch is super tiny, however, so there are very few computers to use (about three 90-minute and two 15-minute) and the in-house collection is quite small. The one good thing is that it's in a rather central location (when it comes to Fremont), so it's convenient as a place to pick up holds and drop off returns. I would pick up materials there if this was my closest-to-home (or work) branch, but I would not hang out or wait for a computer unless I absolutely had to.

Insulation Co gave me the best price out of all. The owner, Jo, was very knowledgable and easy to talk to. He was always willing to jump on the phone to answer any questions, which I appreciated a lot. My house was built prior to 1989 so I received a nice PSE rebate for the work. On the day of, Jo's crew were quick and efficient and provided Before and After photos. They removed my old vapor barrier and insulation and replaced with new one, added new dryer vent duct and flapper, and added new roof vents for all my bathroom fans, and much more. I was able to ask them questions during and provided water and snacks to them for their hard work. The crew respected my home and cleaned up after themselves before leaving. After the work was completed, I thanked Jo for making this all possible and being easy to work with. We went over some of the After pictures together over the phone to help me learn about everything and ask additional questions. They even sent a crewmember to come back for a 2-week follow-up on the work to make sure everything still looks good. I would recommend Jo and the team at Insulation Co to my friends and family for attic and crawlspace cleanout services again.

Jo responded almost immediately with a bid based on the dimensions of our attic (he consulted the King County Parcel Viewer site to determine them). The other companies scheduled inspections. These were great for my ego: apparently I am very fit for my age, have excellent taste, and I'm very nice, so they offered me 'special discounts' . However, when I compared the bids for equivalent services, Insulation Co was significantly less expensive. No 'special discount' required; just straightforward pricing. The crew arrived on time, were careful to protect our property, and did excellent work. They took photos of their work and reviewed them with me. We had an issue with a switch for our bathroom fan that I mistakenly suspected was related to the installation. Jo responded immediately when I informed him of my suspicion and had someone come out the next day to troubleshoot it. Great service. Great value. Honest.

But you can also find extremely itself things for your home kitchen! I needed steak knives. I went to multiple household departments of major store chains, only to find that the only knives they sold were either butter knives bundled with full sets of spoons and forks, or big knife blocks for $70+ that also included many other knives that I was not in need of. So I decided to give a restaurant supply shop a shot. $6 later I had 12 absolutely solid restaurant quality steak knives in my possession. My utensil drawer overfloweth. There was no smaller quantity available, but beggars can't be choosers I suppose. The bottom line is that I can now cook and serve steak for 12 PEOPLE without having to wash a single utensil. Except forks. I think I need more forks now... but the good news is that I know a place!
