Over the years looking for quality sushi places, we ran into Fujiya. We will never stray again. Even when traveling to Las Vegas and craving sushi from "world renowned" sushi chefs, it couldn't hold a candle to Fujiya. Never a disappointment. Sushi is an art form and they are artists in every sense of the word. Always a good meal, always friendly service and I support family owned businesses being a sole proprietor business owner myself. We've had birthday parties, anniversaries even a quick romp for sushi during Christmas and New Years. Our pictures on the wall, smiling faces in other pictures let you know the care and effort they put into customer satisfaction. I highly recommend this place. You've tried the rest, now try the best! Horrible customer service!!! It took them an hour and a half to bring a cucumber roll and when we kept asking for it the waitress seemed to ignore us. I normally don't like complaining at restaurants but I felt the need to say something to the waitress because other tables would come and go and we still had yet to get our entire order. The waitress said it wasn't their fault and we should have said something sooner. To add insult to injury they were going to charge us for leftover crumbs. Yup, I read the yep reviews.. so after having a craving, I came here for All You Can Eat Lunch sushi! The decor is very nice, but it is very dim inside also. Nobody greets you upon entering, and we weren't sure what to do since we'd never been there before. We walked inside the dining area and saw the waitress who gave us a table, it was kinda awkward. On to the sushi, it was okay (Not the freshest, and certainly not the tastiest). Everything we got had mayo in it and was very sweet, unnecessarily sweet! Even the rice is sweeter than other places. I don't know if they do this because it was AYCE, and they wanted to make you nauseated quicker... or if it is usually like this. Although the seafood was good when you got it, such as fish and mussels, I was expecting crab (when it said specifically "crab" was in the roll) and just got imitation crab. What a tease!, and slightly dishonest if you ask me. They also PACKED ON the rice. If you eat the sushi, but don't finish the rice they charge you. So of course we made sure to finish the rice. I think we probably ate 2-3 bowls of rice like that from the sushi. We left very full, and they bid us goodbye nicely. But I remember the service wasn't very attentive. There were just two tables including us, and the waitress didn't refill our water when it was empty until we alerted her ten minutes later. I also felt like they didn't like us or something... like they were looking down on us. I don't know why? Like they gave us cold looks/glares or something. this place is decorated poorly-when you walk in it looks ridiculous. But thats only first impressions, because as some of us know looks arent everything! but thats not the case here. The fish is warm when served and mushy, and all the sushi had an extremely fish after taste. As if someone had marinated it in the ocean. Its pretty bad. And my uni tasted like bandaids, or at least what i would imagine a band aid would taste like. If you know what good quality sushi tastes like do not go here. Random location in a strip mall, but this was the best all you can eat sushi I've had in years. I'll definitely be back. The wait staff was great and the selection was huge. Everything was spectacular. The only complaint is that there seemed to be one way of spicing things up and that was Sriracha sauce. Drowned the flavor of some amazing albacore. This was one of the most disgusting places I've ever been to... We went here because my friend said she loved it first time and we got there and are at a mommy had a rotten beans inside. Then we found larva and larva eggs In our next batch and we were so disgusted we couldn't even order food after that... We showed the waitress and she took it to the cook and then came back and told us it was organic and it was just a Caterpillar And that's why was in there. She proceeded to assess what we wanted to order and we were so disgusted we asked for the check which they didn't even come for drinks on. The owner of this sushi place is an absolute cheap ass. They impose a one-hour limit for their all-you-can-eat sushi buffet. The quality of the sushi is good but they purposely under man their staff so, of course, if the restaurant is bombarded with customers, not everyone can really get their fill before the one hour is up. It is very typical of a Korean-owned sushi joint. So obviously, something like this happened to me. We barely were halfway full and he was already trying to throw us out. They were denying us food so I was refusing to pay the bill unless his chefs would stop ignoring us and continue to serve us sushi. He said in a stern voice that he would allow us one more order and then we would get no more. Not just terrible service, terrible personality. It was the first time I had taken my little brother their and he had driven hundreds of miles to visit me. We definitely did not enjoy this place. read more

I must rate this place one star. Before my last visit, I would have gave it 4 stars. I loved this place. Im on the wall of fame with all of my friends numerous times. I took all my school friends from CSUCI there and out of towners to try this sushi out. But my last experience, I will probably never go back (Ive been going here for almost 3 years). Its really disappointing. This new guy they brought in, real courteous guy and speaks good english. We like to sit in the paper booths with the little tables because they are somewhat secluded from the rest of the restaurant and its nice to have quiet and privacy from the rest of the people there. So my girlfriend had a larger appetite for sushi than I did, so she opted for the all you can eat. I however only wanted to buy two rolls for myself. Our friend bought some sushi also but also bought a full chicken meal. They got their asses in a bunch thinking everybody is out to rip them off now. They are clearly paranoid. They are under the impression that every single person out there is going to take advantage of one person having all you can eat and eating from their rolls. So what they tell us after we place our order is that everybody at the table HAS to get all you can eat if one person has all you can eat. This was simply unacceptable. I told the waiter, can you verify that with Corby (I have met the owner several times). He tells me that he wasn't the one that wanted it to be that way it was Corby and that he knows we come in all the time. Our friend was from out of town so we didn't walk out, but I already knew It was my last time coming in. To top it off though, is we had to ask for water constantly because they would never come up to us and ask if we needed anything. The service sucked, the food was much worse than it normally is. I dont know what crawled up their ass, but they better get it out before they go out of business. Its not like they were ever busy anyway, they shouldn't be burning their best customers. read more

I have eaten there twice. Once with a couple of friends. We all agreed that the sushi is just average and we all agreed that the service is terrible. They make you feel like if you order a third dish you are over eating. They never smile and ask what you would like. You have to almost beg for another order and the wait is long. Tipping them doesn't help. The manager even made a comment to us saying that we should finish all of our dishes before we ordered another dish. It didn't matter that one person was finished and wanted to order another dish. He had to wait until we all finished. Terrible place. I will never go there again. read more

You get what you pay for. Quality is by far poor. The only good thing is the price. The best all you can eat is in the valley.

I give this place 3 to 3.5 stars mostly because I think their all you can eat is a great deal, settling on 3 since I can't give 3.5. The price for AYCE is lower than the other places, by a few dollars each for lunch and dinner. The sushi is above average, probably a three in taste and a four is the quantity. This review is being written based on a visit on the third of 3 days in a row when I visited other sushi places and ate lots of very good sushi. I wouldn't hesitate to go back here although I would like to try the Sushi Fresh down the street from here first. If that place is as good as the one in Ventura, then that place will be my go to sushi place in Camarillo with this in second place. The service was very quick despite a couple of large groups during lunch time, me being in one of the groups. My barometer for sushi have been the hamachi and maguro and this place has some good stuff. The sushi rice did stand out a bit as being more plain sticky rice taste to me and not enough of the vinegar taste. Another reason to bring my rating down a notch since I noticed the rice despite the tasty fish. read more

I think this place is ok. It is all you can eat sushi. The waitresses are friendly. The food comes out fast. Last time I was there I ordered the seaweed salad. It was way to salty. I had a few hand rolls nothing exciting and some mochi ice cream. If you want great environment friendly people and fast service this place is for you. read more

Yeah, yeah, a lot the rolls with eel sauce and such have too much. HOWEVER, I prefer to order mostly rolls with no sauce and lots of traditional two piece sushi. This is where they shine. They cut large, fresh pieces of fish for their two piece sushi. The quality of the fish is good, and I've definitely been to places where the fresh fish tastes... Like potential food poisoning. So, given that they have the excellent all-you-can-eat option, you save tons of money. We went to another restaurant one time to just order traditional sushi... And 100 dollars later, we were still not full and went to get a burger after. So for 50-60 bucks, you get a lot of bang for your buck. As for rolls, I like the red moon and the albacore roll. Yum! Service is ok, you may have to flag down your waitress at times, but as long as your sweet about it, they seem to appreciate that you're making it easier for them, especially on a busy Friday night. Atmosphere is a little cheesy, but who cares? I give this place 4 stars for being budget friendly and having tasty fish. read more

I love going here! The waitstaff is amazing and super sweet! I always get a fist bump from my favorite sushi chefs, they are super quick, and the food is always so good! They are nice to my son as well when he comes in. I also like that they have all you can eat which saves you a ton of money if you were to get that amount of food anywhere else! read more

Fujiya is an all you can eat Sushi Restaurant. It also features other Japanese dishes. I have been a customer there for a long while. Over the past few months they have steadily gone downhill. The folks who run it are Korean and are of the belief that Sriracha Sauce should go on all sushi. If I wanted to have burning mouth syndrome I would seek out a full on Korean Bbq eatery. Despite numerous attempts at telling them................Hold the spice, hold the Sriracha. It comes anyway. Today was THE END! The owner / sushi chef had a meltdown when I returned a roll that was so hot, one bite burned my mouth. He took it and sent it back to me and said it is supposed to be HOT. I sent it back saying I am not getting SICK from this just to make you happy. He slammed it into his garbage. I got up to leave. I told him I never will come back. He said next time you tell me.............I repeated NEVER means NEVER!! Then he tried to tell me how to order at the next place I go to. As if this is the only Sushi I ever had. There is always a turnover of employees in the back room who do the cooking. The latest woman came out and said hi to me and asked me to hire her as a housekeeper. The owner is very rude! Why I supported this place for so long is a mystery. They also serve Farm Raised Salmon. That is full of antibiotics and bad for the environment. All wild fish near fish farms grow lice. Thus I have not gotten salmon there for a year of more, once I thought to inquire. The owner's wife goes.......Farm Fish Good!!! I know it is cheaper to buy. If you like the kind of sushi that challenges your mucus membrane however..........You will love this place. read more

Was going to try Chester's (the adjacent Chinese Restaurant in the same center) but when we spotted Sushi we decided to give Fujiya a try. We walked in and waited at the front of the restaurant for 5 minutes. We were well within sight of the staff and it was hardly busy. When the greeter came out she apologized for keeping us waiting. She ended up being our server too and was extremely sweet. My friend and I decided to give the all you can eat sushi a try. The server explained that they only brought one order each out at a time because they had problems with people over-ordering and leaving food. Reasonable enough. Each order took about 5-10 minutes to get. Again, reasonable. Unfortunately EVERY roll was over-coated with either eel sauce or hot sauce. Not quite inedible, but overwhelming for sure. We had Calamari that was tough and over cooked, Beef Teriyaki that tasted good but the meat was tough, and a few rolls -- the Spider Roll, The Sunset Roll, and a couple others. We paid and left. A couple hours later I started having indigestion. I hadn't eaten that day prior, so I figured maybe it was just me. So I drank Tonic Water and gutted it out for a couple hours. But the next day when my friend called and said she got really sick I figured it was probably the food. It's been about a week since we went, but I decided to see if there were any other experiences like ours on Yelp. Very disappointed to see our experience was far from unique. This place is the BOMB! and there prices are good! Every person I bring here LOVES it! Even people that resented trying Sushi, Fujiya turned them out! lol Some of my friends from Oxnard even come all the way over here to this place just to eat. The chefs at the bar are very friendly. Although I have had them make mistakes on my rolls before, they were happy to fix it. They once put salmon on top of a roll instead of tuna? Which Tuna is my one of my favorite ones, and Salmon is my least favorite! But once I mentioned it to the waitress she gladly brought me a couple of pieces of tuna which was way more that would have been added to the top of the roll. So i was happy :) As far as people saying they got food poisoning here, I don't know if I would really take that to heart, I'm sure if they were eating rotten fish, they would have known. You can usually tell when the sushi is not quite right. But this place is very Fresh. read more

this place is great! i had a party there last nite and we had a blast! we got to sit in one of those "japanese tea rooms". the whole restaurant is very authentic looking and very cozy... the food was awesome. my favorite was the albacore delight! it had little bits of fried garlic in the roll which was so new to me... i recommend this place to all my friends and family! read more
