Sat at the sushi bar and was pleasantly surprised by the excellent sushi. Try the yum yum roll. Service was quick despite the restaurant being busy.

Stopped in for lunch with my 4 year old. This was his first experience with a Japanese steakhouse that cooks in front of you. Our chef went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful experience and I was thankful for his exceptional service. Our hibachi chicken lunches were both delicious! The price was perfect and the amount of food was generous. We will definitely be back!

"Pink Lady" Roll (Huh?!?)

Well, it's been over 3 years since we first tried this place...so thought we'd give it another try! First of all, the sign outside read "FUJI JAP" (as the lights were out on the letter "A" and "N"). Hmmmmm. I'm not even Japanese, but the word "Jap" offends me...so you'd think the Owner/Manager would get this fixed ASAP? OK...not a great start (entry) into the restaurant lol...but no matter! The place was quite bustling, especially on the Hibachi side (left of the restaurant). Again, I'll just say that I love the wide floor space and layout of the restaurant...and the color of the wallpaper (deep burgundy). Sadly, the ambiance is just patchy at best. For starters, we were seated right next to their busy "Carry Out" table, with various brown bags. We should have requested to move to another table, but really, we retired to the fact that no matter where you sat, we weren't really going to get much ambiance, so to speak. Zero overhead music...tons of sports TV screens (is this a sports bar or a Japanese restaurant?!?), etc. etc. Also, there were 2-3 nice paintings on the wall, but it's just totally random...as the paintings (Italian or French scenery??) would fit the motif of an Italian restaurant. Not sure what they were thinking...but again, I found the ambiance very "patchy". It's a shame 'cuz this place could easily be a nice restaurant, but due to the lack of finer details, the place is reduced to that of a fairly rough restaurant. If I remember correctly, we had a waitress that could barely speak or remember to bring us water last time. Well, our waitress was just a tad better. On to the food! My husband ordered the Katsu Bento Box (like last time?), and this time, I tried the "Pink Lady" Specialty Roll. We also got the Shrimp Tempura appetizer to share. Tempura appetizer was pretty good...and sizable. However, I was very disappointed with the presentation of this "Pink Lady". For one, it didn't even look like a "Pink Lady Roll". All the "PINK" was hidden underneath the fried batter and sauce...and the layout was quite basic. Nothing like what I saw on their Yelp page! Honestly, it was the ugliest "Pink Lady" roll I've ever had. At least it was served on a nice plate?? *SIGH* ANYWAY, luckily, the roll tasted better than it looked. My husband seemed to enjoy the generous varieties in the bento box. Despite the awkward ambiance, sloppy food presentation and just passable service, both my husband and I thought the foods were solid. Not exceptional, but good, solid Japanese food...especially for a small town like Rock Hill. I think I felt this way on my first visit 3 years ago as well. So yeah...if you want good Japanese food, but don't care about ambiance, service and all that jazz, you may like the place. For me, this place just doesn't deliver enough to satisfy. There are just too many great Japanese restaurants in Charlotte that deliver on all points (food, service, presentation and ambiance), and at similar price points! So for me, I would personally drive an extra 20-30 minutes to get MORE than just good food! However, my husband would gladly skip the drive...so there's a chance that we'll return.

I've been here twice & the food was good both times. The first time I came it took a really long time for them to start cooking. I just went back again and they moved faster but the portion was extremely small.

We came for a late dinner at Fuji Japan on a late Saturday night. The restaurant closes at 10:30 pm on Saturdays so it was just right for our late night meal. As soon as we came in the door, we were greeted by the host and she sat us down quickly. They have a variety of sushi, sashimi, specialty rolls and an area for family hibachi. Our waiter Jonathan was really nice and friendly. We shared a sushi dinner for two. It came with the Miso soup or salad, we chose the Miso soup. It had a romantic feel on the table side of the restaurant with soft lighting. The other side of the restaurant had the hibachi style seating and brighter lighting. The patrons were entertained by their cooks. They have a full bar in the middle of the restaurant. We had a lovely night with a lovely meal.

The food was mediocre and overpriced. The vegetables was hard and tough to chew. I would not recommend.

The presentation on the food is consistent and extremely appetizing. Food comes out hot and usually on their red and black designer bowls and plates. If your table orders several sushi rolls they have these decorative platters (some shaped like a wooden boat and some shaped like an ornate disc) that are almost too beautiful to eat. I say "almost" because there is no way anyone could leave a single grain of rice unattended at our table! It's definitely a breath of fresh air from how overcrowded other restaurants in the area can feel. My husband had their sirloin bento and I had the tofu hibachi bowl. The rice was cooked perfectly and we loved how thinly sliced the vegetables were. We will definitely be back!

The staff is great and adds an authentic touch to the atmosphere with the unique headbands they wear The food hits the mark every time. The Crunchy Roll is great, and the heavy crunch layered on top makes it stand out. I also ordered the Atomic Roll, which was perfectly executed. Overall, Konnichiwa offers great food at decent prices, making it a top-tier option for a quick pickup.

Busy place, but plenty of space to dine in. My bride and I both ordered chicken hibachi bowls (one with double protein). The bowls came up piping hot right off the grill and they were super fresh and tasty. Friendly staff and service. Great spot.....highly recommend.

The decor is great with vivid black, white, and red accents throughout. The walk-up to order counter is adjacent to their partially open kitchen. The cashier and servers were so friendly, attentive, and helpful. Most items are prepared fresh to order, but the wait was not long at all. What we ordered: - Katana Shrimp bowl with fried rice, mixed vegetables, and sweet carrots - Teriyaki Chicken Bowl with onions, zucchini, and sweet carrots - Crab Rangoon - Miso Soup Unfortunately, I was initially brought the wrong soup. The server noticed it right away and went back to the kitchen to get the correct one. It took a long while for her come back, which I thought was odd. I figured there must be an issue with the soup. By the time the correct soup arrived, we had eaten our full order of crab rangoon and finished our bowls. At first glance, I noticed that the soup bowl appeared to have residue from the previous soup in it. I found it interesting that they apparently used the same cardboard bowl instead of getting a new one. After such a long wait and completing all other parts of our meal, I thought to just take the soup to-go, but wanted to give it a quick try before we left. I took 1 spoonful and the soup tasted sour. I thought it was perhaps due to the other items I had just eaten, so I cleansed my palate and took 2 more spoonfuls...the soup had an unpleasant, sour taste. I eat miso soup often...it has a standard taste in general. Never have I tasted a sour miso soup. So, I was afraid to consume any more of it and took the bowl up to the cashier to tell her about it. She immediately provided service recovery and offered to replace it or to ask for a refund. When I told her that we were leaving and I didn't have time to wait for them to prepare a replacement, she gladly offered to find a lead, so I could be refunded. The lead came to the counter and was very kind. She advised that she needed a manager to override the refund amount ($4.36). The manager arrived with a smile, but then began to reprimand me for wanting a refund and insisted that the miso soup did not taste sour and was not spoiled. She went on to refund me the $4.36 begrudgingly...but she did do it...and all with a smile. Outside of that aspect of our meal and experience, everything else we ate was delicious and filling and priced well.
