This is my favorite local coffee shop! I buy decaf beans here. The drip coffee is not as strong as I make it at home, but I make it really strong. They even have a toy corner so I can bring my kids and enjoy a cup of coffee while they play. I never seen any kids using it but I plan to bring mine soon. The food is great and I'm so glad I can order real, fresh food there. Breakfast burritos, muffins, pancakes, etc. Highly recommend! read more

Fuel is definitely my go-to coffee shop. Their coffee is great, and the atmosphere is friendly and very comfortable. Their blueberry muffins are amazing! They also have a nice little lending library and a selection of board games. After having dinner downtown, my husband and I like to walk to fuel to share a mint brownie and play battleship. They also have a l small play area for kids in the back of the shop with toys, books, puzzles, and coloring books. My kids love going there as much as I do! read more

There really isn't a better place to get a cup of coffee in Lafayette or W. Laffy than Fuel. Amazing staff, great prices, and great customer base. I like that this is one of the coffee shops in downtown Lafayette that has a decent amount of natural light throughout. The baristas are always friendly and the coffee is good too. The only thing that can get difficult is the internet slows down when the place is full, but that is expected of most busy shops. read more

I was truly surprised at the variety and quality of the drip coffee. The atmosphere is great and the wifi is fast. Sorta bummed at the refill charge, but certainly understand, as many people appear to hang out there for a long time. The everything bagels are also off the charts. This experience was so confusing. The man who took my order had to ask five times what I got and was really struggling to remember what I said. I am a coffee lover and haven't come across coffee I won't drink. I ordered the white ghoulia and couldn't even drink half of it. The first sip tasted like a white chocolate pretzel, and then tasted like milk and chemicals. I even had my brother and sister taste it to make sure I wasn't crazy. I won't go there next time I'm looking for delicious coffee unfortunately. Seriously not worth $5 a drink-- I would rather go to (gasp) Starbucks. read more

Fuel offers such a warm and inviting atmosphere. My 10-year-old son and I come in quite frequently to just relax and unwind when we're in town. I love the Dirty Ivan; he's a big fan of the hot chocolate and brownies. The service is always friendly and welcoming, and I recently commented to the owner that whoever curates the shop's music does a great job. The masterpiece of this place is its atmosphere. It's a beautiful shop. And more than that, the owner is a consummate hostess who cares about and designs for her customers' experience in the space: down to the fact that the super-clean bathroom has like extra diapers for moms-on-the-go who might need them. The baristas and owner seem to all like each other and more or less enjoy being there. The vibe is not trying too hard to be anything other than likable, warm, clean, and comfortable -- and it succeeds. Also, there are good acoustics -- magically, others' conversations fade into the background and you get that perfect coffee-shop mumble sound without being distracted by anyone else's actual talking. It's a really nice, cheerful place to get some focused work in. Another draw is that while it's a coffee shop, the food is pretty great too. I have never had a lackluster baked good from this place, and the sandwiches and breakfast options are also really tasty - well above average for coffee-shop food, for sure. Funnily enough, the most indifferent thing about this place (and I do love it!), is actually ... the coffee itself. Their espresso drinks often have strong, sharp flavors that aren't to my liking. I think it's due to a shop preference for crazy strong dark roasts and a kind of no-fuss, technique-agnostic attitude towards shot-pulling (you never really know which way your shot is going to go -- bitter, metallic, I've had it all!). But, it'll get the job done! MEANWHILE. The super-duper baked goods and sandwiches and desserts here and the great atmosphere make it a place that we're privileged to keep in Lafayette. read more

A great coffee shop nestled in downtown Lafayette. With a wide variety of drinks and edibles, you will likely find something to suit your desires here. I have only had their espresso drinks and, therefore, cannot comment on their foodstuff. The drinks are of good quality and quantity for the price. Without the hustle and bustle of the larger chain coffee shops around, you can quickly order a drink and settle in to do work, read a book, or socialize with the other locals here. Although somewhat congested, there was plentiful seating and a noise level low enough to get work done without being overly distracted. The staff was very friendly and service was quick. Being downtown, there were lots of locals here doing work or quietly socializing. If you're from around the area, you are likely to run into someone you know. If you're a member of the church just down the road, you may even run into your local clergy getting their caffeine fix while preparing their sermon. This is a great local coffee shop and I would recommend it to anyone in the area. read more

They just added some sandwich options and this was my first time trying one out. I opted for the turkey sandwich and threw on some bacon for an additional $2.50 on top of the baseline sandwich price of $7.25. It seemed like a pretty big uncharge, but I thought I needed to dress the sandwich up some. I was wrong on both both accounts. First of all, the amount of bacon on this thing was quite generous. They were laid side-by-side (maybe about 5-7 strips?) across the entire sandwich and cooked to red-hued, crispy, chewy perfection. Having said that, the sandwich would have been good eats even without the bacon. The lettuce they used was red leaf I believe, which actually has some flavor compared to iceberg. The onions were plain white, cut into half-rings and neatly spread out. The turkey and cheese were both good quality and there was this delicious "house vinaigrette" spread on the bottom of the sandwich that was herbaceous and gave the sandwich real character--really delicious and I did not need to add the mayo I requested. Finally, the real stand-out was the toasted ciabatta this thing was on. Crispy on the outside, deliciously chewy on the inside, I felt like this could have been fresh-baked today (don't know if it was). The sandwich came with a bag of ruffles and a slightly-above-average chocolate chip cookie (could have had oatmeal). When I step back and compare this to other options in the Lafayette/West Lafayette area for a quick lunch and coffee before you sit for hours to do some grad school work, this lunch has any other option (e.g., Java Roaster, Panera, Star City [close second though]) beat in terms of deliciousness for the money. A really pleasant surprise and will be coming back. I just wish they stayed open later so I could work here longer. read more

Fuel is awesome!! I'm always nervous walking into a new coffee shop but the second I walked in here the team members made me feel so welcome! I also love to get what the barista recommends on my first time to a coffee place and she recommended the Fuel Jack! If you like spicy/sweet this drink is perfect. Its an amazing blend of hot chocolate and spice with the espresso to keep you going! If you're looking for a great study environment or just a place to hang out with your pals, seriously come here. It's such a welcoming place and they have a baby changing station in the mens/womens bathroom (how rad is that, go Fuel!!). This Coffee shop is a staple every time we come to Lafayette. The food, drink and service has always been excellent. The interior is clean and modern with a touch of comfy thrown in. Our order has always been correct and prompt with little waiting, even on busy days. This isn't fast food so a 5 -15 minute wait could be expected. Fuel is a comfy, cozy coffee shop. The staff are always friendly and striking up conversation. Somehow they always remember my drink order. If I haven't had my coffee yet, they might remember my drink before I do! Monday night has live music - mostly folk music. The environment is really nice on Mondays. Best night to be there in my opinion. Also, I think they ware the only ones in town that offer white espresso. If you haven't had it, try the Banana's Foster.
