I stopped by this spot while visiting PMU and was pleasantly surprised! Leaps Coffee is tucked next to the Union Club hotel. The interior had an upscale feel. The baristas were friendly and made my iced latte quickly. The juices and pastries made in-house looked delicious as well, but I didn't get to try them this visit. Not the espresso balanced business of The Eleventh House, Star City, Sacred Grounds, or Indie Coffee Roasters but the mood and slick city beats aerate the atmosphere and a thoroughly enjoyable dream sequence moves you out of the Midwest which is hard to do even on Purdue campus. I'm a fan of their cayenne cocoa latte, glad they got the needed dairy free milk options, can recommend the smoothies too but the treats and pastries are rather basic and face fierce competition. The Union This coffee spot works out of is a good walk around, very clean modern bathrooms. The Union Club Hotel, Eight Eleven Bistro, and Boiler Up Bar all share this end while pushing out non paying patrons around four as the bar opens up. The staff and service is easy going. Parking like most of campus is garbage during semesters. I end up here maybe once a year to pretend there's no gross smelly Wabash nextdoor! For real coffee I say The Eleventh House and Sacred Grounds give the proper brew even for high brow expectations that want the java to match this downtown vibe. read more

Cute and modern coffee shop/bar. I stopped in with my boyfriend for a matcha latte and just to check the place out, since he was showing me around Purdue. This is a new building attached to a hotel and the design and decor is really gorgeous! The staff was friendly and kind. Unfortunately, they were out of matcha but, were prompt in letting me know and I got a pumpkin spice latte instead. The latte itself was decent. I doubt I will be back anytime soon since I don't live in Indiana and am no longer a college student but, I would go back just for the ambiance alone to study if I was one. read more

The coffee and the environment was perfect for studying, but what made my whole experience even better was the service! I was helped by two baristas named Paulina and Elyse who assisted in the tough decision of what to get from the extensive menu and delicious looking treats. I like bunnies and the logo of this store has a bunny and so I like the store. The store was actually kind of hard to find though. It was like a maze. The people there were nice though. 5 STARS! The food was also great. The room was small, though. I liked the music they played. By the way, do NOT attempt to order a pizza from the restaurant because the restaurant does not serve pizza there (as of right now). It was a nice day to start my way. Nice way to start my day. Nice coffee shop located inside the Purdue Union upstairs next to the hotel. Got a coffee and a cinnamon roll. The coffee was above average but the cinnamon roll definitely stood out. Perfectly cooked and a delicious cream cheese topping. Most of the seating there belonged to the bar, and, based on the prices, the place seemed like it was trying to appeal to visitors of the university. I wish it had more seating or even a patio, but that is not a problem with the coffee shop, just the building. read more

The blueberry lemon (frosted) loaf slice was the best loaf cake ever. The texture was right; not sweet and cakes like a muffin; but dense and flavorful like a bread/cake. What a wonderful surprise to taste a recipe like the original loaf cakes of bakery masters. Careful packaging enhanced the experience. Wonderful toasted drip coffee as well. Very courteous and top notch service enhanced the integrity of such a tasty product(s). I always come here when we stay at the PMU hotel as it never disappoints. Cute little place near the newly renovated hotel at Purdue. I would say avoid their French Iced Coffee. I cannot say for sure if theres any coffee in my drink. It tasted solely like French vanilla half & half. The chocolate crossiant looks AMAZING though! read more

If you want a new study spot on campus, this isn't the place. The area is amazingly renovated and modern, but the environment is not ideal for coffee shop studying. The music has heavy bass and is really loud, so even if you're listening to your own music, you always hear the loud music in the background. I went there at 11am, so even if the loud music was for the bar area, it is way too early for such intense music. Also, for the bar area (has the optimal amount of seats, because the coffee area only has 2-3 small tables available), there are no electrical plugs. So, you can't charge your computer or phone if you study in that area. I ordered the French Toast drink (I think it is a seasonal drink for the fall). I asked for a recommendation and the barista asked if I liked sweet drinks, I said I do, but this drink was crazy sweet. So, for super sweet drink lovers, that's for sure a recommended drink for you. The most distracting and even worrying thing was cleanliness. I was sitting at the bar area (next to the coffee shop) and noticed that the bartender was not wiping ANY tables. People would sit at tables, have their meal/drink/finish studying, leave, the bartender would bus their glassware away, but did not wipe down the tables - and people would still sit at those same tables! During these COVID times, I expected more diligence on cleanliness, but guess not. I even checked the Leaps/Boiler Up COVID website to see if wiping down tables was something noted - it is. I highly urge the staff to continuously train on COVID cleanliness and remember to SANITIZE the tables once people finish using them. read more
