Came in for a tasting. I can't say enough how amazing of an experience it was. I tried a lot of different things. My favorite was the brown sugar milk tea with boba, and out of the desserts I tried, I'd say my favorite was the lemon tart. It's a must when you come to Latea. Also, the staff was super knowledgeable about the imported items and how the recipes were not just any old recipe. It's from the owners grandmother that touched my heart. Craving the afternoon pick-me-up bubble tea? Latea has got it covered. It is easily accessible in the levee plaza area though parking is limited right in front so you may have to walk a little bit to get to it. Inside is bright and cheery with a few seats available if you wish to stay a while. You can even order at a kiosk so you can browse the menu in more detail. The milk tea is great! The default milk used is lactose free creamer. There is an extra charge to use any other milk. I loved the boba in there and the consistency is right on. Uhhh hello first rule of customer service, you never quietly hand over an unfinished item without saying a word! That's exactly what your staff did. And when I politely asked about it asking doesn't this creme brulee come with torched sugar instead of apologizing she acted like that sugar was optional so she hadn't prepped it for me and said she has to go and prepare it and put the sugar into the bag, and asked "so do you still want it?" And said something along the lines that she has to put in some extra effort to prepare it for me. This is deeply innapropriate for a food service staff to behave. She initially didn't give me my torched sugar out of laziness and quietly handed over an unfinished product. And she really took her time to explain that she has to go and prep the sugar, like that's none of the customer's business and I don't care. She could have prepped it before I had to ask about it myself and just given me a finished product to begin with. It also only took her a minute to get the sugar for me anyway. I received no apology for receiving an incomplete item. No, the sugar on top is NOT optional just because you don't want to prep it, which takes less than a minute. And a staff asking a customer "I have to go and take time to prep it, so do you still want the sugar?" Is deeply inappropriate for any food service staff to say. I rarely ever write bad reviews for any store! Because I understand staff make mistakes, but this interaction was one of the rudest and worst service I'd gotten, it felt innapropriate that's why. I understand this is just one of your employees and I do not want one employee to reflect badly on your entire brand, but I just wanted to give my honest feedback on how I felt about the situation. read more

The drinks here are always amazing. I come here at least once a week. They are the only store make their boba in house. Im from Taiwan. You wont get this kind of boba anywhere on campus. Hands down the best, and you can tell their ingredients and tea are high quality. It deserves to been seen. This is one of the top places I'll miss after I graduate from Purdue this year. It's definitely the best boba in the Lafayette area, and it's tied with a place in Louisville for my top boba spot over all. I typically get matcha latte with honey boba 100% sweet no ice. And it's SOOOOO good. The flavors here are just so much better than other places. BUT all fall I told my boyfriend I wish boba places would sell pumpkin spice milk tea. I knew it would be good. I went to La Tea and I walked in to see THEY HAD IT! It was so insanely phenomenal. It tasted just like a pumpkin pie in a cup with boba. We found this restaurant when we visited the Purdue University. It is not far from the campus. It is a City of Lafayette. Close to Chinese restaurant call Pepper Corn. We got the Lavender milk tea and the chocolate milk tea. The lavender taste is fragrance and strong which is the way I like. The chocolate milk tea has enough chocolate. One thing that makes Latea distinctive is how they offers vegan milk tea, which taste as delicious as regular milk teas. I always go for their JASMINE GREEN MILK TEA, it's sweet and refreshing. I also really appreciated the amount of flavors on the menu - lots of try and choose from, but I wasn't overwhelmed. The original Latea Bubble Tea Lounge has a lot of the same highlights that I found in their Mass Ave location in Indy: clean and open space, easy to follow directions for ordering, lots of snack items, and a wide variety of tea options. Mid-afternoon, I was able to walk right into the counter and place my order. I prefer the Tiramisu Milk Tea with "less ice", a quarter sweet, and with boba. I also grabbed a few of their packaged cookies next to the counter for my "to go" order. After paying, they gave me my order number and I simply waited in their small dining/lounge area for my number to be called. Wait time was just a few minutes and soon I was able to enjoy the chocolaty beverage on my way home. Note that there are stairs to get into the shop, but there is a ramp to the right that allows access for those who need it. So, I advise parking to the right if you need to use the ramp. Really disappointed they will not add creamer to their fresh brew teas anymore. Every time I come to town I look forward to coming and getting the same drink I always get but was told they don't add creamer to the fresh brew teas "because it takes too long". I've never had Boba tea before and it was something my wife wanted to try, so we gave it a shot. We looked the menu over, took our time, weren't rushed by anybody, and we made our selections. I had a caramel milk tea with brown sugar Boba. I had no idea what I was ordering or what it would taste like. It was definitely an interesting, different experience. I'd possibly get it again or try something different next time. They did up-sell us on a 99 cent shortbread cookie that was homemade, but it was good. When I saw there was a bubble tea place near my husbands work I had to stop by. When I found out they have a rose lavender vanilla milk tea mix, I had to get the biggest size! It's called milk bouquet tea by the way. I knew I would love it and I was right- lightly floral and sweet, easy on the stomach. The grass jelly was not the texture I was used to, and sweeter than I expected. I think I prefer the boba my husband got in his drink over my grass jelly. My husband had black honey lemon tea, which was very sweet and refreshing. The service was good and quick, the store was clean bright and inviting, and there were even a small number of little treats and snacks for someone who wants a bite to eat with their tea. I typically have to decide between ginger, taro, passion fruit, or kumquat. Options for sweetness and ice level are smart, how about options for flavor intensity? I am a regular for 5 years and have always rated 5 stars for their services/products. However, I have had a bad experience recently. I was not allowed to redeem my accumulated points and use a promo code for an order. I get that they don't allow customer to combine discounts (e.g., yelp check in + hap for a purchase. But the fact that the cashier argued the points was a form of discount to the drink made me upset. The points came from all the money that I've spent buying bubble teas from them and the points did not make my tea cheaper - they still charge me with a full price drink with point redemption. The cashier was not very friendly. I ended up applying the deal promo code and forgoing the point redemption. This experience would probably minimize my frequency visiting the store. 12/29/2019 Updated my review after 2019 LaTea has always been my to go bubble tea place. The customer service are good. I couldn't find their full menu online which kinda sucks buT the food was immaculate. The fries could have been more crispy, they are the type of fries you have to eat right away or they get soft. The egg tarts were so cute and tasty, I loved them. The tiramisu milk tea was amazing, and the boba pearls were so soft. I didn't expect it to be so soft but it was such a positive experience. I dunno if I just happen to come at the wrong times, on bad days, or just when they're still training staff, but my experiences at LaTea were horrible. It's upsetting because I actually LIKE the place? The decor is beautiful, it's cute, great ambiance, and it was the perfect setting to sit down and work on stuff. Definitely hipster af, trendy, and lots of options. And the confusing thing is, I LIKE their tea. Clubs sell their tea at stands and stuff, and the Korean taco/rice place in the Union sells it too, and I LIKE their green milk tea, the milk tea, and the taro milk tea. I appreciate being able to adjust the sweetness. But GEEZ when I'm actually there, it's like nothing goes right. The first time I tried it out, I ordered the taro milk tea and couldn't drink more than 1/10 of the cup. They'd put so much powder in it that drinking it left a coating in my mouth and the back of my throat. I ended up throwing it away altogether. Second time I went, my sweet potato fries were burnt 2 or 3 times before I got it (and it was still charcoal-y tasting). And I eat burnt steak bits, okay? When even I can't eat it, then it's bad. Third time I came with some friends before we went to a movie. I didn't even order anything, but a friend had her order mixed up twice. She said it'd never happened before (and she goes pretty often) and I'm quietly inclined to think I accidentally cursed her. But it sucks cause I have great experiences with their food when I'm NOT there. Parking is really fucking tricky. Not LaTea's fault, just that Wabash's front parking is insane, especially with recent road construction. If you don't mind the walk and/or can't find the parking space, park behind Wabash. Either around where the park/New World Market is, or just in the large lot in for Buffalo Wings/Cactus. Do be aware that it's pretty popular, but not that big of a space. This is the Latea we visited before trying the downtown Indy location (which we really like). Two weekends ago, while visiting Prophetstown, we stopped here to get some refreshments.
