I'm extremely disappointed with the way my teenage daughter was treated at this salon. I made an online appointment for a student haircut with Chelsey B who was by the way 15 minutes late after changing my daughter's appointment to an earlier time, she apparently over slept. My daughter went in alone (I was waiting outside) for a student haircut which is 25 dollars Instead, she was charged $55, plus my daughter left a $12 tip--paying $67 total for a basic 10-minute trim, no wash or styling included. This is not the first time this has happened--years ago, the same thing occurred when she came alone. I gave the benefit of the doubt then, but now it's clear this is a pattern. It feels like they took advantage of a teenager who may not feel confident questioning the price. When I went in to address the issue, both the manager Abby Floan and stylist Chelsey B seemed uncomfortable and blamed the "system" for the error. They refunded the overcharge when I requested it but there was no genuine apology or accountability. When I mentioned the previous incident, the manager just said to let them know if it happens again--which is completely unacceptable. How could you not notice that a teenager just paid 67 dollars for a trim !! Overcharging minors, whether intentional or due to negligence, is unethical. I hope others read this and are cautious before trusting this business with their children. read more

I have been going to this salon for a few years now -- I just go in for a trim and my only request is that it's trimmed evenly all the way around. I don't expect an $85 haircut from Fantastic Sam's -- it's just a great place for a simple haircut. I don't know why so many people are expecting super professional services for the prices they are paying. To me it's a bargain compared to most salons in Sarasota. Remember you get what you pay for. I came in for cut, color and eyebrows. I had the girl with the very cool looking long black and light purple hair. She was very nice overall. I'm now 5 days out from my cut and I can say it won't make it to 4 weeks. It didn't need much off in the first place, but I'm tempted to at least go at the front myself. Everything was point cut, no real length taken off. I asked for over my ears. It's barely that. My hairline is supposed to taper at the back of my neck. I can actually grab hair. My neck was not cleaned up with clippers (I have short hair). At one point, she said " I honestly don't know what's going on with this cut."Und you I've had the same cut for YEARS. When taken to rinse out the color, she didn't put a towel under my neck so lots of water ran down my back and dress I was wearing. The stylist MEXT to her grabbed towels because it was getting all over the floor too. She actually said "oh well".. My lady finally put towels under my neck ...too late now. My back is wet down to the top of my underwear. I at least half expected a sorry or a quick run of the hair dryer over my back a little. She knew I was very wet. No on both ideas. I had other appointments so I went around for 2 hours with a wet back and then a wet seat in my car. I don't know what happened to that woman that day but she dropped the ball from the cut to soaking my back. I feel a little bad leaving less than 10% tip on over a $100 service but the water thing was the last straw. Not even an I'm sorry! This is only my 3rd time seeing you, and the worst yet. I was leery about going here, but couldn't find any other places with open appointments. My husband and I were desperate for haircuts. Olga called in sick, so we were both given Irene. This person should not be working with the public. She had no personality, not even a hello. Would not make any conversation. When I crossed my legs in the chair, she snapped 'uncross your legs! She cut my hair way too short. I couldn't see what she was doing because my back was to the mirror...I think this was intentional. I asked for a shampoo, but she said I cut hair dry. After the cut, I asked her for a shampoo, which she didn't appreciate. After the shampoo, she asked it I used any products. I told her mousse. She put mousse into my hair...didn't blow dry, just rubbed it in. I told her she was also cutting my husband's hair because Olga didn't show and she wasn't happy about it. Don't really even want to give 1 Star. I went and had a color remover treatment done on my head. Needless to say it was the worst thing I could have done. I had a girl who never had done this treatment before who was very sweet also the issue was not her fault. The lady Irean who was training her left her on her own. Never touched my head except to help put bleach in and blow dry my hair. Needless to say I had burns from the bleach being left on. I spoke to Abby and she gave my money back but I can not longer Gil outside with out something on my head because of the burns I am more prone to skin cancer. burns are just now healing. Irean also said she used bleach that was to strong. She was rude the whole time I was there. Never again. I have been told by several people to contact a lawyer. I got a bad feeling about the way I was treated. Two things stood out. Just had an OK haircut. My hair is one length, so not that hard. My hair was cut dry. I thought shampooing was part of the service. The stylist said she didn't ask me about shampooing, because most people don't want to pay for the blowout or leave with wet hair. Two customers who came in while I was there got shampooed. One who was sitting next to me wasn't given a choice, the stylist didn't just did it. Secondly, after I paid it occurred to me I didn't get the senior discount. When I asked about it the cashier said that she didn't want to make any assumptions....about my age, I guess. Really! I'm in my 70's and am completely gray. She said to remind her next time and she'll take care of it. Not going to be a next time. Came in for a blowout and was disappointed in their service. The stylist was fine but very rough with my hair and was rushing. There was not a consultation either but I did try to say I wanted it voluminous. All she did was blow dry it straight. Like if I was doing it myself at home -.- She was so rough the brush kept hitting my head and even knocked my phone. The end result was very dull and shapeless. I gave up on it and went to checkout. I still wanted to pay because she did perform a service even if it was terrible. Online, the price said $35 and when I went to pay the receptionist told me it was $58 because of my length and thickness. My hair is thick but not extremely so and my "length" is to my shoulders. I told her the stylist never told me about this upcharge. The receptionist was kind enough to agree that she should've told me and gave me the lower price. Would not come back again. read more

If you expect a friendly attitude during the service go somewhere else. I went there for a perm and I asked for a loose big wave, they don't have the right size of roller to do that. The person that had me told me that the kind of hair style I wanted is not perm, I know the person and I know her hair was permed how's that not a perm? You don't have enough rollers or tools to work with I get it, but don't be like that's not exist is just you are not able to do. Also when I decided just to do a hair cut and after cutting they asked me if I want a blow dry or style, I said a blow dry is fine and today when I came home I realized they actually charged me as a blow dry style which I did not asked for. Overall, charged me extra, poor service, limited tools that can't handle customer's expectations, rude vibe . I recommended this place before and I'll never recommend it again. The woman that 'did' my hair, Olga, was not friendly at all and didn't bother to dry, or style my hair. Even when I asked. It was dripping red down my back and onto my clothes when i paid and left. She also never fully washed the dye out of my hair , (which every hairdresser I've ever had makes sure the water runs clear before moving on to cutting) And it ended up awfully staining my shower. I am the Manager of a corporate job where I MUST keep up appearances in front of customers & employees, i and had to rub like crazy to get the HUGE patch of dye that stained my neck and back, and it never lifted. I had my hair color ($120.00 on Feb.17,'23)done 5 weeks before by Sharin and already needed a root touch up .....Sharin the stylist did the touch up after I waited 30 min.(yes I had made an appointment but that didn't matter) . She looked up my color, put on the product and asked if I wanted her to blow dry my hair.....I have never NOT had my hair blown dry when colored . As I was waiting to pay she said "wait, you must pay more" as she admired my hair. So that day she charged me $117.00 for a root touch up ($60 plus $40.00 on March 29,23) for a blow dry & $17 ?) . They don't automatically give you a receipt so I asked for one ~ being shocked at the price. I have not had a haircut since March 3, 2020. I got online at 1:30 am and made a very first time appointment with Chantal. I arrived a few moments early and they took me right in. Chantal was very professional, she did not talk my ear off as some hairdressers have a tendency to do! Chantal was very clean and very good with blonde highlights and my cut is superb. Stopped by with my mom to get her hair washed and blowdry so she wouldn't need to bother with it. Quickly taken and the stylist was kind and patient with her. I observed him asking her if she liked what he was doing and accepting the input from my mom. I was surprised how they have doubled the size of this location and most seats were empty on this Saturday afternoon. The only reason I didn't give it the full 5 stars is because their senior pricing is a bit steep. For a wash and blowdry on my mom's super short hair they charged us $20. I've been having a challenging week and wanted to feel better with a haircut. I made the appointment 3 days in advance but when I got there I was told my stylist had clients that had added extra services. She chose to take me anyway. Several times while she cut my hair I made suggestions but she kept saying she was doing that. She hacked away at my hair while looking around at other things going on. She took 10 minutes. I left in tears because the hair was longer near my right ear than my left.
