less the 24hs after this review was posted we received a call from the company in a very defensive manner arguing my point in this review that the communication was strongly lacking. From a customer service point of view this call we received today was highly unprofessional even tho it did end in them seeming to understand where we were coming from. If the call was to happen it should've started out with I'm sorry for experience how can we improve and not try to be defensive. This caused my review to go from 3 stars down to 2. Communication is key and it can definitely be improved on here. The work that was completed was good but the lack of communication and unprofessional call has left a spur taste in my mouth. Double check your estimates. I had a piece of the requested project left off the estimate after clear communication that it needed to be done. Walked the team through what needed to be done when they got here. At that point you think they'd point out it wasn't part of the estimate but no they waited untill the rest was done and told us it was going to be almost 900 for what was forgotten on the estimate. So make sure you double check for errors because im very frustrated with this because it wouldn't have taken long since most of the pvc is already there . They also charge 3% for every thousand dollars and they did not communicate it at any state in the process of hiring them. ( they didn't charge us because it was not disclosed in the estimate itself) but beware it does exist. read more

I contacted Fry Heating and Cooling on July 10th in order to obtain an estimate for a new central air unit. Fry Heating and Cooling scheduled an appointment window for the following day, July 11th, 2025 of 12:00 noon to 5:30 p.m. Their technician never appeared at my home. I sent a text to the company number at 5:30 p.m. and, about 40 minutes later, received a phone call indicating that the service technician was either unaware of or unable to make it to my home during the time frame provided by the Fry Heating and Cooling representative the day prior. The following day I received several phone calls and texts suggesting that I was the problem since I had contacted company personnel regarding the failure of Fry Heating and Cooling to honor the service call time frame that they had offered me, the customer! Then, Saturday afternoon, a salesman (Anthony) called me, apologized for the technician's oversight and asked to set up an appointment with me on Monday, July 14th, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. which I accepted. Wonderful, yeah? Nope. Early on the afternoon of Monday, the 14th of July, a customer service representative ("Karen" apologies if that wasn't her correct name) contacted my by phone with all sorts of ridiculous excuses as to why the service technician couldn't make it. When I explained to her that a 10-second text from the technician indicating that he was running late and would need to delay his arrival within the appointment window would've been appreciated (since I had set aside an appreciable portion of my day to wait for their service technician to honor the commitment that Fry Heating and Cooling had made of their own volition), "Karen" snapped, "We don't make specific appointment times for anyone!" I informed "Karen" that I was aware that a specific time was not promised and had agreed to the time frame as promised by the Fry Hearing and Cooling service representative of 12:00 noon through 5:30 pm, the Thursday prior. Then "Karen" started offering ridiculous excuses like, ''the service tech has a cochlear implant'' to which I countered, "That may be, but he also has a company cell phone, my contact information and phone number, and his fingers aren't broken so he could have easily spent ten seconds to send me a text indicating that he was running late.'' I told "Karen" that I would've happily waited in that event had that simple courtesy been extended to me. "Karen's" response to my statement was, "Well, he might not have known that he was scheduled to provide an estimate at your home that day!" to which I asked, "Who sends service personnel out into the field without providing them a schedule of work assignments and obligations?" Well, that did it! "Karen" responded with the following text (which was both 'tone deaf' and hilarious): "I'm very sorry that you are so upset about a technician that was working very hard for his customers who had no air conditioning, working after hours and may not have even known the time until he sent you that message. If you do not have the patience or understanding regarding his oversight, we do not feel that we will be able to work with you on this new equipment. We feel it is best to cancel the estimate appointment for this afternoon. Thank you." Classic deflection in denial of her tremendous incompetence. Clearly, the message that Fry Heating and Cooling is sending is: "The customer is not important and at fault if our personnel cannot perform or meet their professional obligations!" I'm pleased that it worked out this way. I cannot imagine being saddled with the burden of having to deal with such childish and immature behavior while in the process of having to have a central air unit (worth thousands of dollars!) replaced. Thanks, Fry Heating and Cooling! I dodged a proverbial bullet! Unfortunately, there is no option for 'zero' stars, so I reluctantly give Fry Heating and Cooling one 'star' only because a lower, more fitting, rating is unavailable. read more

Fry replaced my furnace yesterday. I found out the furnace fan was dying when I was having my summer a/c maintenance. Since there were a few other issues with the furnace, I discovered it would be cheaper to just replace it. My experience started with Anthony. He came out to give me a quote on a new furnace. He was very friendly and knew what he was talking about. I had other prices but I wanted to buy from Fry Heating because of Anthony. The installers Dakota and Shane were on time and very professional. Fry sent Steve to service my A/C on May 14. He was punctual, polite and knowledgeable. He used gadgets to read the specifics for our Air. He showed me one reading that said I needed Freon. Steve was very professional and I will request him in the future. He deserves 5 Stars. Fry sent Sean and a tall fellow to install a Hot Water tank in a small closet On May 22. They discussed with each other and me on how they would approach this task. They worked as a team to replace and install new water lines. Their next task was to lift the whole tank and place it behind the pipes and water meter. Very touchy but they accomplished their job to our satisfaction. Sean and the tall fellow deserve a 5 Star rating for the effort and experience they provided. I needed to replace two systems (A/C and Furnace) and knowing this was going to be an expensive investment to our home, reached out to the major heating and cooling companies in the Toledo area; six to be exact. In addition, I did research to understand the pros/cons of each brand as well as the try to get my mind around the infinite system configuration options available (e.g. single stage, two stage, multi-stage, etc.). It goes without saying Dan (the owner) was more responsive and accommodating to my plethora of questions and concerns. He was by far the most attentive to our needs (e.g., budget, humidity control, etc.). When it came to money, Dan didn't try to take us to the cleaners. I received some quotes that were $10,000 more than their closest competitor. If anyone does any work to their home, they know the crew that shows up to work is what really matters. This is why I give Fry's five starts. Austin (lead tech) was on-time, explained the installation process, and most importantly, made sure clean-up was to my wife's standard. I can't even do that. Austin was flanked by Jonathan on day one and two. Jonathan was also courteous and professional. If he needed to put something on the floor, he made sure it was on a protective blanket (we have floors that scratch just by looking at them). Later on day two and for all of day three, Fry's sent Cameron. Cameron like Austin, was fantastic. He set up our thermostats, primed our main A/C (York 21 SEER, 5 Ton - guys, you gotta get one, super cool A/C system and it makes no noise) and helped get the Hx3 app on my iPhone. Another important thing to mention was what Fry's did as a result of shipping damaged caused to my main A/C unit. Rather than say, you have to wait weeks for a new one (and be without A/C), Dan (the owner), made an executive decision to have a 21 SEER unit installed at the price of my 19 SEER unit. Back to Austin. We replaced our Nest thermostats and when I went to take it off, one of them peeled a ton of paint off the wall. I explained to Austin what happened and despite knowing everyone is on a tight schedule, he said, "Don't worry about it, the stat can be installed later." He also offered to bring a portable A/C from their shop so my kids could be comfortable at night. Again, this was my mistake, not it theirs. At the end of the project, Dan (the owner) arrived to see if everything was done to my liking. Hardly anyone does that these days. Super pleased with our York system (pulled down our humidity from 68% to 50% in one day). Very happy that we went with Fry Heating & Cooling. read more

Fry has been our Heating and Air Conditioning company for well over 25 years. They deliver good service. I called less than 2 weeks ago, and set up a time to have our new furnace inspected for the Fall season (We bought a Guardian (York) Furnace and AC unit, directly from Fry, and installed by Fry. (January this year)). We follow Fry's recommendations and have our furnace checked, before the winter weather gets cold, and again every spring the AC is checked. The Fry Service Tech (Chris) called at about 10:45, and said he was running ahead of schedule, and was in the neighborhood, and could he do our Fall Furnace inspection now. (Originally scheduled 1pm). He was here in 5 mins, said he remembered a little about the house, and complimented us on our new furnace. Chris went right to work, removed covers, checked the air filter ("change in the spring"), check wiring, circuits, Voltage, drain tubing, condensation well and pump. Tested the furnace for a cycle, and said "everything looks good, has she been working well for ya?" (Told him we're very happy with it! And it was a good price!) He was done in less than an hour. Then he thanked us for being a customer, put his tool bucket in his Van, and emailed a service invoice before he left the driveway, on to his next service call. We needed to replace our entire HVAC system - not only was the estimate one of the lowest our sales rep didn't try and sell us a system that was too large for our square footage. The installers were friendly timely and our sales rep showed up on the day of installation o make sure the project was moving along and the installation didn't have any problems. We had the Fry company install a furnace for us a couple of years ago and have been using there yearly clean and check service.
