It is a light purple and it has black specs which leads me to believe that they mixed the Açaí base with blueberries because they don't have seeds and also provide a purple color. Blackberries would made the base "seedy". Charging açaí prices without 100% açaí is not okay. I will not return. read more

I can't believe I haven't been to Fruit Paradise since before the pandemic, as it used to be a frequent go to foe a quick snack or late night dessert. Having gone last night as we happened to be in the area, I am very glad it is still doing well and continues to produce quality food, at a reasonable cost, with a smile. I used to have to a fairly insatiable sweet tooth, which, when searching for a brownie split one evening several years ago, is how I stumbled upon Fruit Paradise in the first place. While there is seating inside, this is definitely a take off/delivery spot, I wouldn't say it is the best hang or atmosphere. But the food? Maybe it was nostalgia, or maybe it really is that good, but man, that's the best brownie sundae, and some of the absolute best ice cream, in the city. The brownie was heated up nice a fresh, a perfect texture and chew. And the ice cream is so flavorful and creamy, absolutely delicious. We walked out with this giant brownie, that comes with two huge scoops of ice cream, as well as a third scoop for my wife, for $15 including tip. Considering most ice cream spots charge close to $10 or $11 for a pint of ice cream alone, this is a great deal for some really delicious dessert. Wanted a light and fresh lunch. Decided on an Acai Bowl. They have a good selection of bowls to include premiums bowls. I ended on the Tropical Healer. Bowl was filled with Pinneaple, banana, strawberry, guava, honey, granola and coconut flakes. It was really refreshing and satisfying. I enjoyed each bite. This restaurant is really quaint and clean. Plenty of metered parking along Milwaukee. Give yourself some time on meter. Probably do 20 minute if during busy hour. Only 1 person working that I could see. Happy to support a local business. Wow. Just found my new favorite açaí bowl spot! I'm actually obsessed. Not only is the place adorable and homey, but their açaí bowls are top notch! I got the Green Gloria bowl with a small chicken arepa. My açaí bowl was super fresh, sweet, filling, and tasted so natural. The arepa.... Omg. It was my first time trying an arepa and it set the bar soooo high for the next arepas I'll try. I got the chicken arepa - the bun was so soft yet flakey and firm at the same time. The chicken with cheese was absolutely delicious. They packed the arepa to the brim with the chicken and cheese. The sauce that came with it was *chef's kiss*. I give it a true rating of 7/10. The smoothie part itself was so delicious; I was just not expecting the raisins on it. I asked for a small Mangoberry and after I already paid she told me the price and I wanted to confirm I was getting the size small. I was walking back from the Logan Square Farmer's Market at Emporium and this place caught our eye since my husband loves smoothies. If you've never had an arepa, PLEASE get one. I was so sad every time I saw someone get a smoothie bowl or a smoothie but no arepa. Almost shed a tear for every person who stepped foot in that place and didn't experience the joy of their arepas. If you don't know, arepas are a popular dish in many Latin American countries. It is a corn-based dough (many are gluten-free but not all so definitely ask if you are gluten sensitive!) griddled or fried and then sliced open and filled with combinations of meats, cheeses, beans, etc. You can ask them for their arepa menu to read through their offerings. They were SO good I'm telling you. Do yourself a favor and get one. Or multiple. They are definitely large and very filling, so I'd only recommend one per person. I think they also offer mini versions. Oh yeah... their smoothies are also amazing. Some of the best I've tasted. I got the mangoberry and wow. Could drink that think multiple times a week. Strangely enough, I first came into Fruit Paradise to pick up a package. UPS left me a notice that my package was left at Fruit Paradise and I needed to pick up there. I found that super strange but apparently it's a pickup spot for people who aren't home. It's definitely more convenient for me seeing as it's just down the street from me. Plus, I can partake in some of their tasty treats when picking up. I'm so glad I was routed over here as it's been a great spot to stop for some goodies without feeling like I'm overindulging. I'm trying that healthy living thing currently. :P The shop owner/worker is so kind, so eager to help...she gave me many free samples to try my first time in. (Previously located in Avondale) Catchier advertising or the usage of LED window lights could catch the attention of more. It's a gem that could benefit from better street advertising. At night, it looks like a garden apartment with houseplants and tables. (Good thing they moved, the new location will only help them sustain a business longer. More foot traffic means more customers throughout the day) Previously, I was getting fruit smoothies at Ignite's cafe which is a block up the street. Their price point and size was perfect but they made a decision to push their ice cream drinks instead. Bummer, their beverages are sugar & HFCS heavy now.. Surfing reviews I saw one from Sarah S. whom I trust and thought.. shit 5 stars.. fresh fruits.. sure. They offer a couple "juice" drinks that are up my alley like: Kale colada - kale, spinach, banana, pineapple & coconut. I like adding mango to this combination. This is my favorite. To feel fuller, I'll go large and ask for mango mixed in as well. & Kombucha probiotic - kombucha, apple, kale, peach, blueberries & orange. I'll sometimes add a banana. (More than likely all of their ingredients are GMO, which bums me out. At home I use 100% organic & Non-GMO. If purchasing produce for nutrients, I want full unadulterated nutrition. But.. this isn't always available.) They offer a number of other items like crepes with fruits, "power" bowls, pitaya bowls and some Mexican ice cream / fruit combinations. For the last couple years I've been upping my "greens" game. I drink smoothies frequently but I dig fresh greens juices the most. I feel a high when having them and it gives the body an energy boost. Most of my produce is juiced or blended if not prepared (lightly). (If cooking is necessary, light preparation of greens is the wisest option because the vitamins breakdown from overcooking. Of course eating raw is the best method.) I digz it. I've been going for some months now. I'm bummed they decided to move but after chatting with the couple, I get why they did it. I've been eyeing this place on late nights when I'm on yelp craving something sweet and today I finally made it. I ordered the Mangonada and it was delish! It comes in one size which is a decent size. A little overpriced but it was a nice treat. It was the perfect combo of mango, mango sorbet, & tajin. You also get a tamarind straw which comes in handy when trying to finish all the juice at the bottom.
