It's a shame -- I used to like this place. But when I last went in, they snuck a junk fee onto the bill. Notice the 45-cent "processing fee" on the receipt. Huh?? It was not on the menu, not posted at the point-of-sale-device, and not mentioned verbally. When I asked the associate about it, he said he was unfamiliar with it. Deep Purpl has been on my list of places to visit so I randomly decided to give them a try. Note, my experience is limited to the food so I will update if I visit again to try the smoothies. Deep Purpl has a lot of promotion for new empanadas and the photos they used could win a photo contest. The empanadas look sizable and the ingredients look jam packed into it. I obviously jumped at the chance to try it. The empanada was roughly $5 which is on the pricer side but I assumed it would be worth the price. I was completely let down.... this was probably the smallest empanada I've ever seen. I used to hand make empanadas for years so this is not an understatement. The empanada was unbelievably salty to the point I couldn't finish it. I purchased the ham and cheese empanada which barely had any ham. I would skip the empanadas if you're visiting Deep Purpl solely for that item. read more

Please have more than one staff member in evenings. I just waited 25 mins for a smoothie bc the one staff member took 13 orders at once from several different groups that came in at different times. Also the elderly woman who I believe owns the store needs serious customer service coaching . She does not speak unless she can say hold on , no hello , can I help you nothing . The service was terrible. Cashier was extremely rude did not answer questions and was very snarky. We ended up having to get a refund because the bowls were going to take 20 minutes and they have 0 parking. The machine was messed up and we could clearly see her putting her unsanitary hands into the acai machine to fix it. But seriously, I like to treat myself to an açaí bowl (usually once a week) and this is my fave. I like that you can layer the açai bowl and pick your ingredients. I always pick strawberries, banana, kiwi, coconut and peanut butter. A solid healthy breakfast option. It's super easy to order online and pickup time is usually quick. I forgot to get this amazing woman who worked there, she might have been a manager or supervisor, but she showed me so much kindness. She went above and beyond to help a stranger like me out. She worked so hard even though she didn't have to, to get my phone back to me. She has motivated to push her kindness forward, and I am so thankful there are people like that in this world. I wanted to like this place more considering it's close location to Loyola. The inside is clean, cutely decorated, as has lots of seating, but the food is underwhelming. This location doesn't have empanadas which is why I wanted to go in the first place! I ended up getting the deep purple smoothie which was incredibly mediocre. The consistency was more runny then a normal smoothie. However, the staff was very friendly and helpful. read more
