One of Chicago's many virtues is its sandwich game, and L&M sits at the top of the short list!…read more The shop doubles as a specialty foods store selling hard to find items, with a standalone station carving up fresh meats and assembling the sandwiches. I appreciated that they have ample seating room for eating them at maximum freshness. We ordered the turkey & Brie and roast beef sandwiches. The bread was super fresh with the perfect crunch and chew. No ingredients were skimped upon with the perfect balance of flavors. I loved how the crunchy apple contrasted the slab of Brie on the turkey sandwich, and the roasted garlic aioli brought a great savory balance. The roast beef sandwich was pretty spicy and I loved the slight smokiness of the provolone. We left very satisfied and with leftovers. I would 100% stop by again in a heartbeat and absolutely recommend paying a visit!

I stopped in here after seeing posts on social media and I was not disappointed. I ate two of what quite possibly may be some of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The turkey and brie sandwich is out of this world. It has a smokey taste to which is supplemented by the subtle taste thinly sliced Granny Smith apples. The porchetta sandwich is perfectly salty and has perfect portions of meat, greens and fried capers. Both sandwiches are served on the default, fresh ciabatta bread. A true hidden gem, though likely not for long.

I really wish there were more fresh markets in my area because the store was clean and beautifully decorated. I went to get poke (a bit expensive almost $18) for a standard 2 protein bowl. This is a smaller format store than I'm used to, but this isn't a negative, nor is it something I can fault them for. Besides, I b elieve there's another location in Wilmette that is larger (I think). As with the Hingham, MA location, there is a lot to love. They have healthier, local, and small-batch items. The shelves are generally well-stocked, though there was a small handful of items that were completely out. There is also a large selection of prepared items, be it cold to take home or hot to eat right then and there. The staff I've worked with so far has been kind and friendly. Cleanliness-wise, I find the store is very clean. However, there was one visit where the area in the back by the coolers was unpleasantly musty. As far as I can tell, this was a one-off. What does make TFM a little less stellar is their prices. Look, I have no issue paying premium prices for premium products. However, when the same can of peas or jar of Nutella costs significantly more, I'm a little less thrilled. With this, TFM works great as a supplement to my usual grocer. This is especially true for prepared items, quality meats, and, of course, snacks! However, the more limited selection and high prices mean it isn't a full replacement for my regular grocer, yet.

The staff there is truly into their craft and provide the best time for all their services. I finally got to try their sandwiches after years of coming for their charcuteries and various classes (all of which you truly cannot go wrong with), and they were to die for. We split their classic grilled cheese and the TBB and they were both nothing short of phenomenal. The grilled cheese comes with tomato soup which was delicious, and you're able to choose a side for all their sandwich options (we chose arugula salad, which was perfectly lemony). My one and only suggestion would be to offer a toasted option for the TBB sandwich, but it was also truly great as is - I would definitely get both again! Also a random rec but they carry a pretty hard to find red sparkling wine that is AMAZING - Cleto Chiarli Lambrusco Amaible, must try!
