    Milkshake, Large, Huckleberry
    Albert T.

We were told Frugals was a must visit when in Port Angeles and we decided to drop by for our last meal before leaving. This location is drive through only. We actually drove past it several times on our trip. On the first night, there was a line of cars out all the way down 101. We decided to go for lunch instead since we didn't want to wait. This was a bit after noon and the line was way more manageable. Double Cheeseburger ($7.48) - They start with a fluffy sesame bun, then pile on the sauces (mayo, mustard, ketchup), diced onion, pickles, shredded lettuce, and finally two burger patties with cheese. The toppings are all on the bottom, which make the first flavor to hit the tongue a sweet, salty, sour, and creamy punch. There is a decent amount of lettuce and onion and only three small pickle chips that help add some additional crunch and acidity, but there aren't really enough to cover every bite. The burger patties are solid fast food/drive-in type patties. They have a decent char taste and are easy to eat, although there's not really any char texture, and instead the burgers are the same texture throughout. Overall, a good burger, as expected of this type of establishment. (4/5) Cheddar Cheese Curds ($3.95) - These are decent curds. They are fried to a good crisp. They're salty, cheesy, and have a good cheese curd chew. The breading has small rocky pieces of raised breading embedded throughout. Pretty standard fried curds. Unfortunately they don't really give a lot for the price - only like 10 or so curds. (4/5) Milkshake, Large, Huckleberry ($4.95) - This milkshake has nice smooth consistency throughout. There aren't any thicker or thinner spots in particular, so it's a nice drink from start to finish. Very drinkable, not horribly oversweet, and with a good huckleberry flavor. I mean, it's a milkshake. Even an average milkshake is good! (4/5) Frugals is a pretty typical drive through/in burger place. They don't knock anything out of the park, but serve good classic burgers, milkshakes, and sides.

We did not get pictures on this stop, we were too excited to eat after our day in the park and on the road. We stopped here because we wanted something quick and we thought the burgers would be the star of the show, but honestly they were kind of mid, instead it was the cheese curds that were the best! This is a drive thru only restaurant, and the service wasn't great but they were super busy...so I attribute it to that.

An absolute gem!! My family and I stopped here after a nice hike at hurricane ridge and man did Frugals hit the spot! We each grabbed a burger and fries with a milkshake, and it was epic! It was a classic and fresh burger - you could tell it was great quality. The milkshakes and fries were bangers and we couldn't get enough! Don't be spooked by the long lines in the drive through, the service moves pretty quickly and they're super friendly as well. The ambiance was that of a classic burger diner joint from way back when, so it was giving nostalgia vibes! Overall, a banger - I want to go back!

It's not frugal per se, burgers with $6-7 each is pricey. There's no dining in, all drive through, the lines were long but they moved fast. We had bacon cheeseburger $6.80, mushroom swiss burger $6.50 and cheese curds $4, the portions were decent except the cheese curds which was tiny pack. The beef patties were a bit dry but overall it tasted good.

Frugal burger is always a must when passing through Port Angeles. It is a drive thru, no indoor seating. They have great shakes and fries too!

Everything you want a burger to be! The fries and milkshakes were perfection. Not too sweet but perfectly complimentary to the meal. For under $30, two people can have a fantastic dinner; and take it to the scenic sit spot of your choice since this joint is DINE IN ONLY. Eat here you won't be disappointed!

Drive-thru only! It's meant to be a convenience but since we were staying at the hotel right next door, it ended up being an inconvenience to have to drive over. There are two lines and they both move very fast so if you see cars spilling out of the driveway, don't worry because you'll get to ordering soon enough. Because we had an order of 12 burgers, we had everything ready before the window. The cashier took our orders with no complaint but when he read it back, it was in a different order and I have no idea if he got everything. In the end, we weren't missing any burgers but a couple had some wrong modifications. They label each of the burger wrappers with the type of burger and modifications and it took us a minute to figure out what was what. The standard burger order comes with ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce, onions, and pickles. You can remove some of them or even add tomatoes, grilled mushrooms, onions, etc. for a small price. I'm a little disappointed that tomatoes aren't part of the standard but the extra cost is pretty minimal. A combo order also comes with fries, drink, and fry sauce (which was forgotten). The burger itself was a little underwhelming. I didn't think the patty was juicy or flavorful enough. The fries had the same texture as McDonald's, a little soft and crispy at the same time but lacking salt. Despite the underwhelming food, the convenience and price outweigh it all and I can see how Frugals can be a first choice when you're on the go or just want to pick something up fast.

Firehouse came up with consistently good reviews, and what I noticed more than anything was the owner, Trevor, was individually feeling many responses; good or bad. This impressed me so we decided to grab some burgers. The young man taking our orders was manning the Lane outside the very small outlet. He was thorough, he knew his business, and he was polite with a great sense of humor. My partner had the bacon bleu burger and I had the aftershock smash. Like a scene out of When Harry Met Sally, we had all sorts of specific requests: no onions on this, Swiss instead of cheddar, whatever. The kiddo took this all in stride, unlike the professional he was repeated our order back to us without having made one mistake. By the way-it was all quite good. Burgers were good. Fries were good. The only offhand request would have been allowing me to try the speciality lemonade as part of my combo-we would have paid the up charge. As for as I'm concerned, if you're in the area and you want a burger, try them out. They have tons of choices and the smash options are solid. Thanks.

When we arrived, my son noticed that the order-taker "looked pretty young." I was able to tell him that this place was family-owned because of Yelp, so "maybe he is the owner's son. If so, that's pretty cool. I loved that we could order with three cars in front of us and, by the time we got to the window, we only had to wait a couple minutes for our two custom burgers. The 7yo told me his burger was "really good!" And I really liked the flavor of my Firehouse burger. We loved that there was a choice between regular fries and the waffle variety. Next time, and there will be a next time, I want to try the onion rings. I played it safe this time, but since I'll be back, that's a route I will take.

Me and a group of friends (8 total) were visiting the Olympic peninsula for a camping/backpacking weekend and stopped by Midtown on a busy Friday night and were quickly seated. The food tasted good and we had great service during our visit. Since we were a large group, and already had shared expenses for the weekend, when asked about the check we offered to put everything on one tab to save time. Later on that night however, after we had set up our tents at our campground, my partner began to experience intense stomach pains which turned into full blown food poisoning. I spent the next several hours helping them, before I also got sick. It was at this point we realized that it was from the chicken sandwich my partner had ordered at Midtown, since I had eaten her last remaining bites of the sandwich and this was the only food we shared that other members of our group had not also eaten (we all shared food at lunch earlier in the day). My partner and I essentially spent the night in the campground bathroom (we are extremely lucky they had one). The next morning we were feeling depleted, dehydrated, and decided to head home to recover while the rest of the group continued on the trip. We spent the rest of the weekend trying to get food down. I called Midtown the next business day and let them know what happened for their awareness mostly. They thanked me and told me their policy is a full refund if something like this happens and that the group should expect it soon. We didn't hear from them or get notification of a refund so we reached out a week later and they said they forgot and now the owner would only provide a refund for me and my partner's meals and that they never offered a full refund. They said since we had "12 people" on the ticket they wouldn't do it (our tab for 8 people was $186 before tax and tip) but if we had a doctor's note that could change things. I promised them we weren't making it all up and that I've never gotten food poisoning from a restaurant or even left a bad review before! Tired of the gas lighting I decided it wasn't worth arguing and let them know this will have to be my first. It's a shame their management is unprofessional because our experience in the restaurant with the food and staff was nice.
