They are a "vintage-chic soda bar" with definite nostalgic vibes from the 1950's, or even earlier. Want an old-fashioned ice cream soda, milkshake, soda floats, ice cream sundae, banana split, or maybe a boozy ice cream or coffee drink? Well, belly up to their long soda counter, hop on a bar stool, and let your inner Fonzie go wild. You'll love their pastel pink, black and white color scheme, and you'll sure love their charm and hospitality. You won't see a zillion ice cream flavors on the menu, just the most basic varieties beyond vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. We ordered two Malt Frappes ($11 each), one Classic Vanilla and one Pistachio. They both came with whipped cream and a cherry, and my Pistachio was garnished with pistachio pieces in the frappe and atop the whipped cream. They were excellent, cold, thick, refreshing, frozen comfort food at its best and oh so nostalgic. Reminded me of the shakes we used to get t Howard Johnson's a lifetime ago. And the portions were pretty big, our server Gwen poured whatever wouldn't fit into our glasses into a plastic cup for us. Definitely worth a stop on your next visit to downtown Hartford.

They are small, but downstairs they have super cute and colorful seating arrangement. The inside is filled with chalk walls of all of their delicious offerings. I got the Mocha Cappuccino flavor. This blew my mind with how accurate this was to its name, and how insanely tasty it was! If you enjoy coffee, there's no way this flavor would disappoint you! This flavor is vanilla based, with the tastiest layer of mocha, then the syrup on top made it so much more coffee. This isn't overpowering coffee at all. It is such a balanced and delicious flavor. Could not give 5 stars due to 1 downside - as I was waiting for my order, a couple entered the shop with their dog (young pitbull). At this location, they carry all the popular flavors in to-go plastic containers. You can also get a cup or cone of their ice cream instead (like my daughter did), but to me, their uniqueness comes from those sandwiches. I'd highly recommend incorporating this ice cream stop into your visit to the Connecticut Science Center. Pick this over a grinder/sub next store.

The often unique flavors are always loaded with mixins, offering incredible and satisfying textural contrast to the ultra smooth and creamy gelato itself. Recently I have tasted biscoff crumble, blueberry white chocolate, deconstructed blueberry crumble, and espresso mocha crunch. Each was delicious, but if I were to call out a specific highlight at this moment, I might say the blueberry white chocolate. I appreciated that the white chocolate was in the form of large shards mixed in and not simply a flavor added to the base. That often leads to a subtlety that renders it nearly, if not entirely, undetectable. Their lemon basil sorbetto was also delicious and extremely bright/refreshing. I like to order a waffle cone on top as well, which I love versus facing the rush of leaking all over your hand when acting as the vessel. Service is always friendly and they're happy to let you taste before ordering. Plenty of outdoor seating is available when the weather cooperates! Sno 'N Dough sells a slew of carnival or country fair foods, like sweet or savory fried dough, fried Oreos, Fried Cookie Dough, 22 flavors of Snoballs, cotton candy, churros, and popcorn. We chatted with Dylan, their super friendly counterperson who whipped us up an 8-oz banana Snoball ($2.99) and a Marinara Parmesan Fried Dough ($7.99). The banana Snoball was great -light and airy and fluffy as a cloud without the course hunks of ice you sometimes find in a traditional Snow Cone. The Marinara Fried Dough was terrific -we shared some for dinner (it re-heated beautifully) and the dough came out soft and just about perfect. The sauce and cheese were also excellent, and I have to say we really loved it. Dylan told me a funny story about a customer he served a week aqo, A woman was walking by his stand, and she stopped dead in her tracks, cried out "OMG you have Snoballs", and almost started weeping. Turns out she was a Louisiana native and hadn't seen them sold anywhere besides her home state. Needless to say she was thrilled. We were pretty happy with our visit too!

It's in the Old Wethersfield part of time, and if you haven't been there, its definitely a sweet place to park your car, go for a stroll, and check out the shops on (you guessed it,) Main Street. Main Street Creamery is a blue building with a few indoor tables and outdoor seating. We saw big trays of cookies, brownies and macarons on their counters, but of course the real star of a place with "Creamery" in their name is their ice cream, and they sure knock ice cream out of the park. Hard ice cream, frozen yogurts, sorbet, sherbet, Milk Shakes, Malts, Ice Cream Floats, Razzles, and Sherbet Coolers are on the menu. Want to bling out your ice cream with some extras? How about over 20 toppings to pile onto your dish? Among their over 50 hard ice cream flavors are some intriguing ones and some clever names, like Nerds Explosion, Espresso Ripple Bean, Coconut Candy Bar, InstaGRAHAM, Apple Caramel Crumb, Pumpkin Gingersnap, and three Peanut Butter based flavors - PB Nightmare, PB Dream, and PB Oreo. Ice cream cups range from $5 to $8, and we both went with a small for $6. Even though they were advertised to include one scoop, our friendly young scooper gladly offered to include two flavors in each small cup, and between you and me, it sure seemed like she exceeded that "one scoop" limit. Our four flavors included Coconut Candy Bar, PB Dream, White Russian, and Black Raspberry Oreo. Our first impressions were that #1 the ice cream was very smooth and creamy, with zero traces of ice crystals, #2 the flavors were fantastic, and #3 we were spooning up some of the very best ice cream we've had in a while. We were very glad we finally checked out Main Street Creamery. Sitting on a bench on a beautiful summer day in a scenic small-town street, while eating some great ice cream was one of the real seasonal pleasures of life. Go check it out and enjoy. PRO TIPS Cash or Venmo only, no credit cards. There is an ATM on site. Don't overlook their freezer with Pup Cups, pints, and ice cream pies
