Blue Chip Creamery is now scooping at the Connecticut Science Center. This is their first brick and mortar location, previously operating exclusively as a mobile service with a few ice cream vehicles. Blue Chip Creamery is known for their huge Chillwiches which pair premium hard serve ice cream with freshly baked cookies. They come in a variety of flavors such as Thin Mint, Hot Shot, Life is Shortcake, What the Fudge?!, Black Sheep, and many more. Their products can also be found in local supermarkets such as Big Y, Shoprite, Highland Park Market, restaurants, and some farm stands.I was thrilled to see their new ice cream space and I definitely wanted to try some before I left the science center for the day. In addition to their signature Chillwiches, Blue Chip Creamery also offers mini doughnuts, coffee, Avery's soda, hard serve ice cream, sundaes, an assortment of toppings, and hand made waffle cones. They even, on occasion, will have exclusive science center flavors such as Galaxy.
Although I had my heart set on trying a chillwich, our group faced difficulty in agreeing on a flavor. Consequently, we opted for individual cups and cones. I got the CT River Fudge which was composed of vanilla ice cream, fudge ripple, and peanut butter cups, in a waffle cone and adorned with a sprinkling of "moon dust"= pulverized Oreos. The ice cream was smooth, creamy, and balanced with respect to sweetness and ingredients added. This is definitely quality ice cream. My companions' ice cream selections were also very good. One chose strawberry, while the other got cotton candy, both loved their picks.I definitely would recommend. Blue Chip Creamery is really a hit because people kept lining up. There was only one employee working, but she managed the line very well. She was friendly, fast, and efficient.
This was such a nice treat after exploring the science center. read more
