Blue Chip Creamy Mobile

Attended a church picnic and got to finally try the Blue Chip Creamery Ice Cream. I had the honor to try 3 of the 5 flavors offered on the truck. I really loved the coconut almond chip as it tasted similar to the mounds candy bar. It didn't have tiny pieces of coconut like I've had with other places but it had the creamy consistency of coconut. Definitely my favorite for the day. I wasn't a big fan of the raspberry swirl as it was very basic. Yeah he chocolate flavor was very creamy and tasty. I woman handing out the ice cream was very nice and gave us an option of either a cup or a cone. It was an added addition to the picnic and it's great to know it's available for you to rent.

Another try at soccer match food. This time opting for the dessert side of things. This truck offers ice cream and ice cream sandwiches, so kind of a limited menu The "cookie monstah" was pretty good! Messy, good cookie with fairly dense cookie dough ice cream. Lots of chocolate chunks but not overbearing. Price was decent for the venue, and portion was giant for kids but decent sizes for the adults. If you want a sweet treat, try these guys out!

Blue Chip makes cookie ice cream sandwiches out of Glastonbury. I've bought them at Killam & Bassette Farm Stand on Main Street in So. Glastonbury. I was buying corn at K&B this morning when the Blue Chip delivery truck pulled in. I had to snap a photo. I've bought the Yard Goat, which is chocolate chip-studded mint chocolate chip ice cream between two chocolate chunk cookies. I've also bought the Cookie Monstah, which has cookie dough ice cream between the same cookies. Is it true I've watched the 1994 Nick Nolte movie "Blue Chips" while eating a Blue Chip cookie ice cream sandwich? Nope. Totally false. Is it true that I was eating a Blue Chip cookie ice cream sandwich when I shoved a stack of blue poker chips all in? No. That's false too. However, Blue Chips' sandwiches are truly delicious and a step up from typical ice cream sandwiches. Watch for the truck and give em a try!

Skyscraper Sandwich Truck - "Reuben" (pastrami, Swiss cheese, truck sauce, and sauerkraut on grilled rye)

Skyscraper Sandwiches is a New York-style deli sandwich food truck that opened in Glastonbury,…read moreConnecticut in July 2017. It was founded by Jay Sneideman. Decades earlier, Sneideman's wife said that he should make his own restaurant called "Skyscraper", in reference to New York City. Sneideman didn't end up opening a restaurant, but he did spend over 25 years in the culinary field where he spent time managing fast-casual restaurants. Eventually he decided that he wanted to work for himself and an opportunity for a new food truck came along. He finally had the chance to use the name "Skyscraper", and the focus of the menu became New York-style deli sandwiches. Many of the sandwiches feature corned beef or pastrami, such as 'Reubens' and 'Rachels'. Skyscraper Sandwiches can usually be found parked at breweries, wineries, farmers' markets, and various festivals throughout Connecticut. Sneideman is often assisted by members of his own family. My family and I sampled some of Skyscraper's delicious sandwiches this past autumn. We were visiting Long View Ciderhouse in Southington and Skyscraper Sandwiches was the scheduled food truck that day. I can't say no to a good Jewish-style deli sandwich. After looking over the menu, I ordered a "Turkey Cranberry Melt" (hand-carved roasted turkey, cranberry sauce, tomatoes, melted Swiss on grilled rye), my wife ordered the "Reuben" (pastrami, Swiss cheese, truck sauce, and sauerkraut on grilled rye), and our older son ordered the "Pastrami Grilled Cheese" (pastrami, melted Swiss, sweet onion jam on grilled rye). These were huge sandwiches and very filling! The meats were delicious as well as the rye bread that they use. The sandwiches paired well with our cider flights. I really hope that I run into Skyscraper Sandwiches again!

The rye bread was awesome and expertly grilled. The turkey was outstanding and good juicy. And check out the pics and see the unique way they grooved the turkey. Loved it. The Swiss - melted! The coleslaw tasted fresh and provided the needed crunchy texture. My one small note - I could have used more Truck Sauce (said in a Christopher Walken voice). It was a bit hard to pick up with the substantial stack of other ingredients. Skyscraper indeed! 4.5 Stars with a round up to 5. I'm watching you Skyscraper Truck

"But I don't eat at trucks," you say. "Your loss," I say. It's time for a little culinary daredeviltry and to boldy go where you've never gone before. Normally I review based on ambience, service, and food. Obviously you're not going to have much ambience at a food truck, so we'll bypass that one. Though, honestly, in the shadow of the Wadsworth Atheneum is as good a place as any to grab lunch. If you go Wed-Fri, you can eat on the Atheneum steps, and then visit the museum. Dogger's open on Mon and Tues, too, but just sayin'. The service is top-notch. Mr. and Mrs. Dogger are good people. They enjoy what they do, and it shows. The food is prepared to order, it's quick, and even a first-timer is made to feel like an old friend. The food (which is why you're here, after all), is excellent. I've never had a bad meal here. Pulled pork, buffalo chicken (with extra buffalo), meatball or meatloaf grinder, and, of course, dogs; they're all great. The sandwiches are tasty, they're fresh, and I love the bread. There's a certain establishment kitty "corner" to the Dogger, a "stone's" throw away, shall we say, that shall go nameless, which no matter how much I want to like it, I just can't get past the crappy bread. That's why I mention the bread at the Dogger: it's really good. I suppose my one grouse is they don't carry coleslaw for the pulled pork, but that's not for a lack of trying. For some reason, you philistines who inhabit the Connecticut River Valley don't top your pulled pork with coleslaw (really people?) so Mrs. Dogger got tired of throwing it away. Apparently I was the only one who kept asking for it. It was good coleslaw, people! Ah, well, there's always got to be one little niggle; nothing's perfect. Do yourself a favor, get over your thing about trucks and head to the Dogger. You'll get good eats cheap, from two really nice people and before you know it you'll be saying to your friends "Hey, let's head to the Dogger for lunch" as they all give you funny looks for going to the truck.

The husband and wife duo is amazing they are very friendly and conversational I did not feel rushed like they were there to just take my money. The steak and cheese that i choose to eat was wonderful topped with onions peppers and cheddar cheese. For $6 this is a steal it included a bottle of water (my choice) and a bag of chips. I will be back... also if you call ahead they will make your food so it is ready when you get there. A must have.
