You ring the doorbell, wait patiently, and once you're inside, you realize this isn't your typical coffee shop. It's a place to slow down, enjoy the music, and savor your drink. Monique and Danica were both amazing. They're warm, welcoming, and you can really see the passion behind what they do. Danica is also the DJ, and her eclectic playlist made the whole experience even better. One of my favorite parts was just sitting there watching our drinks being made. You can see the care and craft that goes into every cup...even the Kuramoto ice is beautiful. The Matcha Americano completely changed my perception of matcha. The Kyoto cold brew pour-over was fascinating to watch and incredibly smooth. We loved it so much that we came back the very next day. This time I had the Midori, and my brother-in-law loved the Highball, especially the yuzu. No laptops. Trust the DJ. Drinks are meant to be enjoyed fresh, so take your time. If you're looking for a quick coffee run, this isn't it. But if you appreciate great coffee, good music, and people who are passionate about their craft, Long Play Hi-Fi is absolutely worth the visit.

(Dw, from the inside, you can see outside well) Drinks were really good and carefully made, song selections were unique! We ended up chatting with one of the customers there too. Chill atmosphere 10/10 recommend. There's also free wifi here, signal isn't very good. :) Parked in free street parking about a min walk away.

We had the burger (juicy, flavorful), Mexican Caesar (best i've ever had- the dressing was perfect), and chicken tenders (lightly breaded and great seasoning). The portions were generous which was great for our family of 4. The cider is top notch. Best we've ever had. You can tell there is a lot of care and expertise in their craft! Lara, the owner/creator/cider queen is so knowledgable about all things cider, San Diego (native), and design. The building is the most thoughtfully designed and artistic dining/social space we've been in in the U.S. ask about the yurt wall, the mapping on the countertops, and the vintage pieces carefully placed throughout the building. Maybe the coolest bathrooms ever?!? Each has a different design. The blue Matisse is a personal fave We only wish we lived close by. This would be a great remote work spot and event gathering space.

Tickets were purchased on-line, they allowed an hour beforehand to mingling. The layout was a little different from the last event I attended but it still felt intimate and cozy. I greeted friends, grabbed a NA bevie some mango deliciousness and parked my bottom at the closest table. The speakers topic was Crayons over Constitution so she provided us with blank poster board and crayons to doodle which I was totally happy to partake in. Mid presentation, I grabbed the other NA bevie, fruit punch of some sort. It was a wee bit too sweet for me, I should have gotten the mango bevie again but you never know what you'll like of you don't new things right? The event was incredible, I already requested to host to book her again. The venue is really awesome for small group events. I got to meet the manager/owner at the end of the evening and she was delightful!

In addition to standard lattes, they've got cream tops and I chose to add on a pandan one. There was a big order ahead of me so it took a little bit of time but was worth the wait. It was delicious and the matcha came through nicely. Great green coloring, always a good sign of a quality matcha. I thought it was really good, especially considering this area is slightly limited on great matcha lattes. Parking is tricky which makes running in and out tough. It's mostly metered.

Seating was available inside or outside under some canopied tables on the sidewalk. Two menu sheets, one for food and one for drinks, were posted at the counter. Vietnamese fare like banh mi and coffee were the main offerings. Egg rolls, egg souffles, and pastries were the other food categories. You could also get matcha, coconut clouds, and espressos for beverages. I selected the first of eight banh mi choices which was the House BBQ Cold Cut and a Matcha Mango for a drink. The sandwich toppings were listed as Vietnamese garlic aioli, pickled jalapenos, carrot, daikon, fresh sliced cucumbers, and minced cilantro. If you look at the photo of what I received, it was French bread with pork meat and spread inside. I don't believe any of the veggies were added so a mistake was made by the kitchen. It was also heated too which I have never experienced before for a "cold cut" banh mi. The matcha beverage was made by the barista at the counter. Whole milk was my choice of dairy. A mango puree was placed at the bottom of the cup followed by the layering of the latte and matcha powder. The blend was smooth with a solid matcha flavor. Between my sandwich and drink, I gave a 3.5 star rating for my experience at Hydout Cafe.

This past Sunday, I decided to head over for a morning walk and finally stopped in again. The shop is pretty small with limited seating, so it's not really a place to hang out. It seems more like a grab-and-go coffee spot. There aren't many great coffee shop options in this part of Coronado, so I can definitely see why it's popular with both locals and tourists. I arrived just before the morning rush, so I was able to order and get my drink almost immediately. The cashier was super friendly and welcoming, which made for a great first impression. I also really appreciated that they offer a military discount--it's always nice to see businesses supporting the military community. I ordered a medium cold brew with coconut cold foam and asked for very light ice. I was so happy they actually listened! So many coffee shops still fill the cup with ice even when you ask for light ice, and I hate watered-down coffee. This one was perfect. The coconut cold foam was absolutely delicious and added just the right amount of sweetness to complement the bold flavor of the cold brew without overpowering it. I also love that they serve organic coffee. I'll definitely have to remember to stop by more often whenever I'm in Coronado in the mornings. Next time, I need to try one of their donuts too!
