I was too scared for a long time to chop my hair off or get away from dying my hair black because it was just low maintenance. Being a mom and living an hour and a half away from this salon, I don't always get the chance to get my hair done often. But I decided I needed some change and have been talking to Megan Jessy about chopping my hair off and starting the blonde journey from black hair. Today was my first session and my hair came out exactly how I expected if not better! As you should know, going from dark hair to blonde is a PROCESS. It doesn't happen after one or even two sessions. This was Megan's first time doing a balayage on me and she was seriously so amazing and personable! I highly recommend her. And her cutting skills? I am the pickiest person when it comes to cut. I come from Nashville, TN where I spent good money on haircuts. And let me tell you, Megan is one of the BEST. My daughter walked in with a bad haircut and dye job done at a different salon, that she was trying to grow out. She was hesitant and worried about getting it done. The stylist took the time to really talk to her about her hair goals, and what she wanted it to look like. She was honest with what she could do to fix it, and suggested what would make it look better. Her hair looks absolutely stunning. She has incredible highlights, with rich red undertones. The haircut is modern and looks like something out of a magazine. And I was super surprised at the very reasonable cost! My family has found their new salon home in the Springfield area. I have long dark brown hair, I went in for platinum blonde (or as light as she could get my dark hair) peekaboo highlights on the underside of my hair, sent 3 pictures for inspo, my hair didn't turn out like the pictures at all. When I got home and could examine my hair closer in my own mirror and was getting ready to take pictures for instagram I noticed that my hair was uneven and brassy in some areas and some product (shampoo? Idk) had been left on the roots of my hair so I showered and rewatched my hair, making sure everything was washed out. I reached out to the salon, they were very kind and I was able to get in quickly to touch up the uneven part and here's where it gets funny. My mom pointed out to me that my hair is still uneven, I didn't believe her but sure enough it is. Despite my hair being toned a total of 3 times throughout this process I still have brassy pieces. When I went back in a second time for the touch up I felt like I was being rushed, she didn't have the care or attentiveness she had in my initial appointment. She used the wrong toner or something? So she washed it out and put a new one in which turned my hair purple, I live with a blond mom I understand the purple will wash out this was fine, but instead of my hair being platinum blonde it is now silver and it has stayed a silver gray color and you can barely tell I got the peekaboo, when I put it up however at the roots it's got brassy streaks and doesn't look appealing. I understand my stylist said that if I wasn't happy after the purple washed out she would redo it but honestly after messing up twice, I think I'll save my time and go elsewhere. I repeatedly asked for more fullness/side volume but was met with pushback / attitude from Audrey (my assigned stylist) every time, and ended up with only 1 row and 5 I-tips. I was never shown the original packaged hair, receipts, or even the back of my head after installs, so I had no way to confirm what was actually used and what I paid for ! When I went to pick up my leftover hair, I was handed one small curved piece that is lighter in density, and doesn't match the color of what's in my head. The color installed also does not blend well at all with my natural hair color. Overall, I left every appointment feeling uncomfortable and confused, with no clarity on what hair was installed or what happened to the rest of what I paid for. Upon emailing the business my concerns, their response was that my hair was matted at my move up appointment (am I not paying them to maintain my hair and fix it?) and that all hair is correct and was returned. I was there for several hours. had my hair in a ton of foils . paid almost $300 and when I left my hair looks exactly the same except shorter. you can even see the root line very very plainly still. I'm truly devastated by this. i wasn't able to get my hair done for a year. and the time before that was really really bad. at this point I haven't had my hair blonde or looking like me in almost 2 years. I feel I just paid the world's most expensive haircut and wasted over 2 hours of my life. I had a very important job interview that I'm now going to cancel for bc my confidence is completely shot. I can't even afford to go somewhere else for at least 6 months due to budgeting. This isn't just bad work it's just plain wrong. you're a stylis, you know what blonde is, and you know how to dye hair. but your "work" shows otherwise.
