Roger did an excellent job with a Starlink internet installation in Outer Cape Cod. Previously, the…read moreonly Internet option available was DSL. It would have cost $70,000 per mile to expand fiberoptic cable to the home. Other local satellite companies said it wouldn't be possible to have the necessary line-of-sight to their satellites. Starlink was our last hope. The job was complicated by the fact that we were coordinating the logistics from 500 miles away. The location of the install was challenging - a fairly remote, sparsely populated location with significant tree canopy. Roger helped the whole way through - from guiding us to purchase the proper equipment from Starlink, speaking with an arborist to help us with tree cover issues, and explaining his approach as he performed the work. He used a 5 ft. tripod and an additional 10 ft. pole to mount the Starlink dish on the roof. That gave it enough clearance from the tree canopy to pull in a strong signal. Internet speeds were as fast as 260 Mbps down and 30 Mbps up. This compared to 4 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up with DSL previously. Needless to say, we're quite pleased with this result. Roger is clearly an expert at his craft. He's been in business for 46 years. He also has a great work ethic. He spent a significant amount of time on the roof in 95-degree heat. He didn't stop until the job was done. The cable run into the home was efficient, and he cleaned up impeccably after his work. And he's a nice guy to boot. Worth every penny!

Another time he ran data lines through abandon pipes under our warehouse so we could connect the buildings without having to add more wires. Ultimately, using the deserted pipes underground, Ed replaced all of our lines with high speed data lines so we ran at over 200 mbps which was unheard of 10 years ago. As the wireless world has evolved, so has Ed's company. We are very data driven and Ed has always stayed ahead of the technology and upgraded us to new software and systems through the years. We were one of the first companies to go totally wireless and this ultimately ended up saving us a lot of money on monthly bills. Ed has done work for us for over 20 years and they always answer the phone, they always send someone right out and they always let us know what our costs will be. They are as fine a vendor as we deal with and I have to add that Ed does a significant amount of work, pro bono, for Hartford homeless shelters and soup kitchens. There was a new iPad and Apple Watch offer available to anyone who was buying an iPhone (Black Friday special, perhaps?) but after crunching the numbers with my partner (it calls for additional lines and a 3-year contract commitment) we realized it wasn't for us. But Audrene was super patient as we worked it out amongst ourselves. She was also not salty when my kid tracked brownie crumbs all over the store or when we started re-enacting the lift scene from Dirty Dancing in the middle of the store. Case selection was sad and overpriced but I think that's par of for the course.
