Didn't have to wait long. All of my questions were answered and addressed.

I sincerely appreciate the staff (MA's, MD's, etc) but the phone tree is terrible! I tried to get through to the office where my client had his surgery and was put on hold multiple times before I was actually put through to the medical assistant. I was told I would get a return call but that never happened! On top of all this it is now Friday, Jan 29, 2021 and it is 4:45pm, they close at 5pm. This is no way to run a health clinic. My client had MOHs surgery on Jan 26, 2021 and the bandage slipped down and the stitches were visible. I was told he could get some gauze and Ace Bandage from store. #1 he doesn't drive and #2 he would not remember what he needed. I call this a horrible way to treat people that are paying for their care!!! read more

I called to become a new patient today. I have valid insurance I have had for the last 5 years. Because the person who was taking my information couldnt find me on her insurance lookup, told me "I don't know what to tell you, I can't find it. You can self pay." Why would I self pay with insurance? I said, "So there is no other way to look this up, I am in a lot of pain and really need to be seen." Receptionist: "No, I need to be able to verify your insurance before I can make an appointment." I am actually glad that happened because I definitely DO NOT want to receive care somewhere where my pain and need for dermatological care were so blatantly disregarded and dismissed. Makes me feel like that is exactly the treatment I would get if I became a patient. Thank you for making my decision to go elsewhere that much easier! Would never recommend would never go myself. If I could give 0 stars just from my first impression I would. read more

I am pretty angry that my signed and dated release forms were just "misplaced or missing" and not one person from this office bothered to call me, in the 5 weeks I was waiting for my medication. I am hurting without it and delaying it further is causing me unnecessary pain. I had a massive panic attack in the office and then in my car in the parking lot. Without my medication my condition is severe. Without my records from my previous doc, my horrible insurance won't pay for it. I would never ever ever be able to afford it without.. I would have appreciated a call or something, I even called them to see what the hold up was... They didn't mention anything... Now I'm waiting another 5 to 8 weeks in hopes my records will come back in record speed and my insurance (ohp) will cover my meds the first time we ask.. which they won't.. it my 37 years of having this condition, it's been this same life long battle.. read more

$1800 later, I have no answers other than "probably eczema". Biopsy confirmed "probably eczema or contact dermatitis". I self diagnosed this myself prior to the initial appointment. The nurse practitioner was nice enough, but if you want to see a doctor, I'm told you must drive to Salem. A money making corporation. No use to me. read more

Frighteningly awful office staff and record keeping. SFD&A staff can't even make a courtesy call when an appointment requires a new referral? They just let you arrive only to tell you you will have to get a new referral and then come back another day? WHAT? Are you kidding? Absolute piss-poor patient service. If you have no other local choice in skincare consider making the drive, and bearing the expense to go somewhere in Portland or Eugene, but don't go here. Ever. read more

I rarely take the time to write reviews. For me to do so, something either has to be really great or really bad. My one star should tell you which one this is. I went there yesterday for my annual skin checkup. I was supposed to see a doctor, but was seen by a PA. In the interest of not going on a rant, I will skip over my lesser dissatisfaction's and get to the crux. The PA wanted to order four biopsy's, t wo on my forehead one below my left eye, and one in the groin area. Something about this entire thing felt wrong, so today I went to see my primary, who is an outstanding doctor. I told him what happened. As for the forehead, he couldn't even see what they had indicated. The one under my eye is a simple irritation. As for the groin one, his reaction was "they wanted to biopsy THAT?" Bottom line, NOTHING needs biopsy. My primary was tactful and said they were being overly aggressive. I don't have to be tactful. I know what this was all about, and it's not the practice of medicine. It's about billable procedures, period. Take my advice, if you like your primary, we love ours, have them do your skin check. Stay the hell away from these boutique dermatology clinics. read more

I wanted to leave a review after reading many of the more negative reviews here. They had a huge impact on me and my stress before my first appointment and I hope this will help others. I just want to share my experience. I went to the office in Salem. I could write a huge long review going over each appointment but I'll summarize. I had to get a biopsy on a mole on my back. The doctor(a younger guy) and his nurses were so so kind and the doctor's work was great. There was no pain during the biopsy and healing was fine. When I had to go in to remove more, I had another quick pleasant appointment. I believe this was with Dr. Lear. His nurses were also sweet and answered all my questions. My healing has been great and I had another friend (a doctor) compliment his tight stitches and clean work. No infections here and everyone has been very kind. Amy especially, who I've only spoken with on the phone, has been patient and kind and answered all my many questions. I do feel I need to share the one issue that was difficult. Someone called to give me my first biopsy results and told me my mole was benign only to receive another call an hour later saying it actually wasn't benign. I would have given them four stars but it's hard to give one star after that. The happy emotions and phone calls I made to family members and friends sharing the good news and relief I felt only to receive not so good news an hour later was absolutely crushing. But people are human and mistakes happen. The people working the front desk have a lot to deal with. But be careful! I got another call a few days later attempting to give me my results again... That worries me a little but the actual doctor work was really great for me. And the girls at the front desk are always very kind! read more

The entire experience was awkward. Weird thing 1: I arrived and was immediately ushered into the "ultrasound room." However, calling it the ultrasound room is generous. The equipment was set up in a dusty back room that is used for storage of all sorts of other crap -- paper, broken printers, radios, various supplies, and wire racks full of visible disorganized whatnots. The room felt less like an exam room and more like a storage unit. Weird thing 2: Once in the room, I was told to change into what turned out to be a scratchy pair of grey men's fruit of the loom boxer briefs. I have never been asked to change into anything other than a standard hospital gown or appropriate drapings. Never underwear. It was just weird and unprofessional. You can't tell me they don't make non-descript hospital gown-esque shorts? Weird thing 3: The ultrasound technician came in and said literally nothing to me before putting his hands on me. He never told me his name, never said hello, nothing. Just straight for my legs, and only spoke to tell me how to turn so that he could capture an image. So, there I was in this storage unit turned exam room, sitting in men's underwear, when some guy comes in and never says anything or acknowledges my hello, and just goes about performing my venous ultrasound in near silence. Maybe 2 minutes in, someone tells him he has a phone call, and he just up and leaves without saying anything and doesn't come back to start again for a good 10 minutes. If that wasn't awkward enough: Weird thing 4: Remember me saying this room was also used to store a bunch of crap? Well, throughout my entire ultrasound, this nurse kept coming in and out of the room to root around and look for god knows what. To his credit, the technician seemed annoyed, and asked her what she was looking for while giving her a meaningful look as though to say "Uh, do you mind? I am kind of in the middle of something." This lady didn't care, and just kept right on digging around. She never did find what she was looking for and I didn't exactly appreciate having more people than necessary in the storage unit I was trying to silently have a medical exam... Anyway, the tech finished and was escorted to the doctor's consultation room (still in the underwear). Weird thing 5: Shortly after meeting the doctor, he asks his assistant (who was wearing yoga pants that were tight enough to see her thong, btw.*) what insurance I had. Then, incredulous, Dr. Pittman says to me, "Why do you have such bad insurance? Are you a school teacher? or a Cop? It says you have Public Employees Insurance. That is awful. Don't you have something better?" People, if he was at all self-aware, Dr. Pittman would have noticed that I had to pick up my jaw off of the floor from the shock of his rudeness. I told him my profession and that he was mistaken about what insurance I had. He argued with me, insisting that I was on a TERRIBLE public employee plan. Annoyed, I walked my underwear-clad butt to my handbag on the other side of the room and dug out my insurance card to prove to them that I did not, in fact, have the insurance plan that they berated me for having. After the ever-so-important task of figuring out how they were going to be paid and by whom was complete, the doctor finally decided to BRIEFLY discuss the reason I was actually there and sent me on my way. At the end of the day, I did not feel like my concerns were adequately, or professionally, addressed. Additionally, I am by no means confident in his medical assessment and plan to be evaluated elsewhere. I won't go back. *Full disclosure: I worked in healthcare for a number of years and expect staff to act and present themselves professionally. I'm all for being comfortable, but I don't think yoga pants are appropriate, especially when they're so tight that your underwear is visible. Also, scrubs. Scrubs are some of the most comfortable clothes known to man. They're almost pajama-like. And, perhaps more importantly, they're part of an accepted uniform of a medical professional. Nitpicking clothing is a small thing, and under normal circumstances, it wouldn't have bothered me, but nearly everything about this experience was awkward. read more

My regular dermatologist retired and Silver Falls bought his practice in Gresham. It was not a good experience for the first visit. The staff was more interested in getting you in and pushed along. They appeared eager, but it was really to get you in and out quickly for the next person. They didn't care about your concerns. I expected to see a doctor. Nope, it was a nurse practitioner fresh out of school that started freezing the heck out of my skin. I knew the way she was going about it that it was to fast and not through enough to work. I was right - no blisters and the pre-cancer is still there. Now for the best part, my old doctor charge under a $125 for an office visit and a few freeze spots. This group charges over $650 for a very poor job and no outcome. No oversight by an MD. read more

The whole of western medicine frustrates me, I will start by saying that. I will also say, like most places, they dont seem to listen or have continuity between visits. I have a rash. It is NOT contact dermatitis. I tried to explain what I thought was going on so we could avoid all this unnecessary testing. No deal. We are already on 3 visits and they are still insisting in contact dermatitis when there is no thing that's coming in contact and still not listening to me... Now I am off to a specialist when I thought my PC doc HAD sent me to a specialist. WtF? Why must we waste so much time, pain and money so that incompetent people can get rich. No continuity, 3 doctors, 3 visits and they can agree that they don't know. But they all three had different thoughts. Very frustrating. I probably won't be back. 50 years of not seeing a dermatologist, probably be ok not seeing another. The place is clean, they were prompt and so well staffed they stand around eating gummy bears so that when you are in a room waiting, popping your head out to ask a question is easy! read more

I have struggled with moderate to severe acne for over six years, and have worked with several of the doctors at Silver Falls regarding this condition. My first appointments were with Dr. Perry. I always felt he gave me options for what treatment I wanted to pursue, was genuinely concerned with helping me, and answered all my questions during my appointments. The next doctor I worked with was Dr. Howerter. I followed the treatment plan Dr. Howerter prescribed me for six months (as she recommended), but found that my acne was the worst it had ever been. I attend college out-of-state, so I called Silver Falls to see if Dr. Howerter would reauthorize the prescription for a treatment plan Dr. Perry had prescribed me, that had worked in the past. The clinic said they would not do this without my coming in for an appointment first. I can understand why this policy exists, but it was frustrating to feel stranded at college with worsening and scarring acne for several months before I could talk to anyone at the clinic. I decided to look into an online clinic to see if they could help me with my acne. I told them my history of treatment plans, and they put me on the same treatment plan Dr. Perry had prescribed. Within a month, I was starting to see improvement. When I returned from college, I went in to Silver Falls for my appointment. This time, my appointment was with Jennifer Kasselmann. I explained to her that I was following a treatment plan that was giving me improvement, but she said I should end this treatment plan and she prescribed me a treatment plan that was very similar to the one prescribed by Dr. Howerter. I told her this treatment plan had not worked in the past, and asked why I needed to change plans, but she did not give me a clear answer. When I voiced my concern to the medical assistant that making this change to my treatment plan in the past had caused my acne to worse, all she said was "It will work." During my appointment with Kasselmann, I mentioned that I will be studying abroad this fall, so having a treatment plan I can rely on is important to me. Once out of the country, I am not able to receive new prescriptions. Currently, I am working through the online portal to continue the treatment plan that is giving me results. In short, I would recommend Dr. Perry. However, in my appointments with Dr. Howerter and Kasselmann, they have seemed impatient in answering my questions. I also felt they gave me textbook answers for my condition, without consideration for my knowledge of what has and has not worked for treating my acne. I hope this information is helpful. I know first hand that trying to manage a dermatological condition is no fun, but having a good doctor can make all the difference. read more

Dr. Benjamin Perry and his assistants were fantastic today. Extremely friendly, knowledgable, and professional. I needed a procedure done that was discovered today and instead of making me come back later they looked at their schedule and worked it around others that were coming in. I've never met a Doctor/team that has been that accommodating without affecting other patients that have scheduled appointments. Everything was completed throroughly and they made sure to explain everything. The procedures were very well done and they took the time to make sure I was comfortable. Dr Perry and his team get my highest recommendation and I will be sending my friends and family his way. read more

My interaction with Dr. Pittman was horrible. He is very unprofessional and very rude. I do not feel that my concerns were addresses at all. I was referred to Silver Falls by my primary care provider in early June due to skin cancer on my forehead. I saw Physician Assistant Renna on June 18, 2020. He took a biopsy from my forehead & informed me I would be notified of the results within two weeks. Five weeks later, I still haven't heard from them. I received a bill in the mail & called the office on July 21, 2020. My call was directed to voicemail. I did not receive a return call. On July 22, 2020, I called the billing office & spoke with Callie who informed me that she would notify the staff that I was still waiting to be informed of the biopsy results. Again, no call. Please, please, please, if you're loved one has any serious skin diseases or cancer, seek help elsewhere. You will probably die while waiting to hear back from these people. It appears they simply want your money as their billing department is more efficient than their medical staff. Simply Shameful. read more

I have had repetitive problems with their billing dept. I'm paying my copay on line PRIOR to going for an office visit on my credit card. This method is pushed by them. Then a few weeks later I get a bill for the same date of service in the mail. This has happened twice. The first time I called the clerk who bumbled around and said "it must have crossed in the mail." I repeated I had paid by credit card so mail was not involved. Then she said my balance due was zero. I asked why they mailed the bill to me if my balance was zero. Answer "I don't know." Now I've received another bill I paid prior to the office visit. I called again and this clerk said I had not made a payment. I don't know where she gets her info. Possibly on a computer that isn't updated by the credit card payments. In any case she is a very "delicate soul" who should not be handling billing complaints. When it became obvious I was angry (but not profane) she could not continue and hung up. I will now try an exec at this company and send him an angry letter. This is all too bad because the medical care has been satisfactory. read more

if I could give 0 stars I would. Doctors and most of the staff are a bunch of incompetent prim donnas. Dr. Karla Pivek is not only incompetent but does not do what she says she is going to do. By the way do not try to hold them accountable for anything and do not call them more than a couple times if they have not returned your call or they will discharge you (without telling you why) and then you have to start all over with another office I jumped through every hoop they wanted me to jump through to get my prescription refilled and when they did not fulfill on their end they decide I am no longer going to be their patient. Well there will be a reckoning, these doctors made an oath to do no harm and by not following through with what they tell their patients and then discharging them when the get called out for it, well there is a special place in hell for then. While the skin care is excellent I can not give Silver Falls Dermatology a five star rating because of it is nearly impossible to contact them about an appointment. I waited on hold for more than 2 hours over a 1-1/2 week period. When I tried to leave a voicemail for call back, Their mailbox was full! The reason I needed to contact them: I received two automated calls about a June, 4 appointment. The first said the appointment was in Corvallis and the second said Albany. You can't speak to an automated call! My spouse was finally able to get through after a wait of 35 minutes! This is terrible. Then, after all this waiting, I received a third call and SFD needed to change the appointment to June, 3. Fortunately, silver Falls can call me. read more

I had a really difficult time the past few weeks as I learned my doc was no longer there when I called for a prescription refill. Could not get my refill until I saw a new doc. However.....I had to call 3 separate times just to get an appointment. Initially, I contacted them about the script and was told about the doctor leaving and she said I should ask to make a tele health appointment since it was just for a script. I then contacted the front desk for scheduling and the person first said for sure she could get me a tele health appointment, then seemed to run into some kind of issue and told me they would call me back. I waited a week with no call. I called again and was on hold for over 30 min so I did the call back option and left a VM which the message said would be returned in 24 hours. 48 hours later I phoned yet another time and waited on hold determined to make the appointment so I waited forever and did not use the call back function. Finally I was able to reach someone who made an appointment however she seemed really uninformed and kept asking me if my appointment was for a skin check after I repeatedly told her it was for a script refill for my chronic illness. When you're almost out of meds and you cant even reach a doc, or get a callback, its really stressful. This process should not have taken 2 weeks. It would be prudent to notify folks if their main doc leaves. And please call patients back if you say you are going to. I will go to this appointment because I really need these meds, but after that I am looking for a new dermatology office. read more

Be careful, they are wild and crazy with their "freezer guns", don't ask before they shoot. Then, when they've covered you with lots of bubbles you find out it is charged at as "Surgery" and the cost is ridiculous. Last year a possible cancer was determined on my husband's cheek and an ointment was prescribed. It was over $150 for 40 grams, enough for a lifetime. There is no indication that this clinic thinks about your pocket book, and more so, it seems rather haphazard. I've moved on to another dermatology clinic that is highly professional and thorough. This review is actually regarding the Lincoln City location. For someone already dealing with a stress related skin condition, going to their Lincoln City office did not help one bit. First, the staff on the desk have a very easy going laid back "non challont " attitude. There was silly laughing going on as I approached the front desk, which did not seem professional, not to mention the office seemed un-sanitary with full open trash can on view. Why calling in a simple prescription took them over one day, plus a weekend, is just beyond me! The fact that I was suffering with an uncomfortable itchy rash didn't seem to be a concern. They do not provide a dematologist, but a physicians assistant. A nice person but, my concern was the inspection of my rash was not looked under with a large light and magnifer..Although I am fairly comfortable with the diagnosis. I was just there on April 6, 2018. I haven't been to a dermatologist in awhile, and I had a lot of information that I needed to tell the doctor, and to get help about my issues I was having. The nurse was helpful, but the doctor just came in, looked over my skin very quickly, and overall just seemed to want to hurry through the appointment very fast. She then left, and didn't answer all me question, so I had to call her back in and she came in and just said the same thing the nurse told me. It felt like they just wanted to rush me through in and out the door. I still have questions that didn't get answered, and I felt the doctor lied to me about getting my skin tag removed. My dad had surgery there for his skin cancer, and the doctor told me to go to a plastic surgeon and no doctor there would help me. That was a lie! So I was very disappointed with the doctor.
