Steak quesadilla suprema
Lucy T.

Frontera is maybe one step above your typical hole in the wall Mexican place. It's a pretty big restaurant space and has lots of cute decor. My friend Adam and I came here for dinner a few weekends ago. They start you off with free chips and salsa. They have a couple of drink specials too. I got the steak quesadilla suprema. It was alright. Staff and service were all very friendly.

The service is good and the food is great. I really love the shrimp street tacos and the chicken, shrimp, and steak rice bowl with cheese. My husband loves the spinach, onion, cheese, mushroom, quesadilla.

The servers were working so fast and Doug so much so the servers seemed good. The food was not bad at all but not quite as delicious as some of my other Mexican restaurants. It is a cool looking ceiling so it does feel Mexican inside.

We love this place! We come here 2-3 times a month. Staff super friendly and fast. Food is exceptional. Authentic yummy Mexican food. Never had any issue. Family-friendly. Super cute environment!

I have been a Frontera fan for years. inside diningand ordering delivery. This was the first, especially after delivery. Today I got the driest chicken. I got the smallest portions of sides ever. Small Container of rice for five dollars, and the obviously small container of queso dip of eight dollars The free salsa is bigger than my sides! you gotta do better. I will never order from this restaurant again.

I went here like two weeks ago and had a great cheese quesadilla. However this trip was not good. I got the combination L dinner with a flauta, enchilada and steak quesadilla. I added a side of rice and added sour cream($1.25). I only got this combo for the flauta specifically. I took one bite and bit into a wooden skewer. After that I couldn't make myself eat it. I told the waitress and she said "sorry that's how we cook it". Like okay? Didn't ask if they could remake it or comp the one item. The steak quesadilla is not at all like the cheese. It was mainly just meat and bread lacking cheese. The chips weren't good either they were like Tostitos heated up. Also, didn't check on us once until she gave me the check. I will not be returning.

I went to eat at Frontera's with my dad yesterday, and it was amazing! The food was really good. I got a dinner plate with two tacos and rice and beans on it. I had forgotten to say no lettuce for my tacos, so they really piled it on there. I don't really like lettuce, so I had to pick it all out. It's my fault, so it's no problem. My server was very friendly, and the store was very clean and inviting. I would definitely eat here again. PS: The churros are fire.

I wanted a frozen drink on yesterday. I stopped by Beef O'Brady's and they were super busy! I did not feel like having to wait so I decided to stop by this restaurant to see what kind of frozen drinks they had available. Upon entering the restaurant, we were sat by the hostess. The hostess was not rude, but she was not friendly either. Upon being seated, our waiter stopped by our table. He talked very fast and he tried to rush us with ordering. My husband actually told him to "just give me a minute" in response to him trying to get us to order so quickly. As soon as we did order, he snatched up the menus and almost ran away. Honestly, I didn't get the impression of him being rude. He just moved really fast and clearly, that's his expectation of others. We received our drinks and food really quickly. The presentation of the food left much to be desired. The spinach in my spinach dip was not finely chopped up. It really wasn't chopped much at all. They basically put the whole leaf in the queso. It didn't taste horrible though. It was edible. I could say more, but there's really no point. Overall, the experience was mediocre. I'm not sure I'd come back again.

The restaurant is decorated nicely. Lots of vibrant colors. It also gives off the feel that you're off in Mexico sitting outside in a court yard. Very cute! My mom had the chicken fundito which was delicious!!! Steak fajitas were yummy as well. Our water/ soft drinks never went below half full. Great service

Steak and Chicken Fajita Dinner

Although I am giving this place 3 stars, I am very surprised as to why the overall rating is already at a whopping 2.3 stars. The ambience was homey and the staff fairly nice, and my whole entire family enjoyed their meals. Starting off with the aforementioned variables, this place is bursting with color. They have traditional Mexican music playing at all times and it's not too loud. There is tons of space on the inside as well. This brings me to my first issue: I have a decently sized family and we often get placed in a booth in the corner of restaurants; we are fine with that and actually prefer it. However, we got placed dead center in the middle of this restaurant at two tables our waiter slammed together before beckoning us over to follow him-- a little strange, especially since the restaurant was by no means full. He left before we arrived at our table with lots of empty seats. Our waitress who took our orders was very nice though, but a little impatient. She kept our tortilla chips coming without us asking and we appreciated that, but she was constantly on the run and seemed too busy. I ordered the Chicken and Steak Fajita Dinner and it arrived pretty quickly, along with the rest of my family's orders. The portion sizes were great and we all ended up taking to-go boxes. The rice, beans, and salad were really good, but surprisingly, the vegetable steak and chicken mix lacked bursting flavor-- not enough salt or pepper. There were also way more onions and peppers compared to the very small portion size of chicken and steak I received. The culture of this place and very nice and looks promising on the outside. I am one of the biggest fans of Mexican food as well. But, there are certain factors that need to be tweaked-- especially if they are looking to get their stars up.

When shopping in the area I'd like to support this restaurant with a quick meal before I head home. Their service is fast and polite they make their very nice salsa dip and their hot sauce homemade can provide quite a kick so be careful! Margaritas are good, too

Being downtown, parking is not always the greatest, but it was a lovely evening for walking less than a block to the restaurant. It was a Saturday evening so there was a little wait, but we were able to sit outside and have a drink while we waited. Once inside, the place was dimly lit, really loud with music and very clean. And for having unisex bathrooms, those were surprisingly clean as well. Our waitress was great, I wish I could remember her name... but I do know she was from Cali. We ordered a couple of strawberry margaritas, which were just your basic drink, but still refreshing. Started off with a basket of chips, salsa and fundido. This is considered an appetizer, so no freebies here. The chips were fresh and warm, the salsa had a nice flavor and the fundido was ok according to the kiddo. We had the grilled shrimp tacos with rice and beans. You had to assemble your own tacos tonight, and order rice and beans separately as the taco plate had no sides, but all delicious.... Beans had a nice kick, the shrimp tacos were missing something in my opinion, but not sure what. We also had the best shrimp quesadilla we ever tried. It has overly stuffed and cheesy with wonderful lime cream sauce to go with it. This entree was a huge hit all around and it did come with a side, so no extra charges. To finish off dinner, we all shared the strawberry tres leches and OMG... Absolutely the best we have had in a while. Too bad it's seasonal. Over all, great experience and would definitely g

In fact, I'm getting warm feelings right now just thinking about my time here. Their vegan option is a nopal taco (tender, marinated cactus). It's excellent, but what makes it next level is that SALSA BAR with the best salsas I've ever had. It reminds me of taquerias in California. I drowned my taco in all of the sauces. In fact, I could probably be happy eating tortillas and salsa here. Because, yes, the tortillas are that delicious. As is that guac. Again, some of the best I've ever had, gimmicky tableside guac included (never felt that was such a great thing anyway). Here, you get a generous portion of the creamiest quality guac you can imagine. I can't report on the margaritas other than to say they look gorgeous. The wine pours are also generous and the prosecco is damn good.

Jake and the staff were beyond friendly and kind! The patio was a popular spot with hard walls and heavy duty plastic windows, ample seating despite it being a rare 70 degree Alabama December day. Parking is a slight challenge as it has always been, however there was plenty of street parking out front and around the corner. The restaurant was clean, with a few water spills, and the rest rooms (several are unisex) were clean! We had a party of five adults and two children and helped ourselves to push 4-tops together to make room for everyone. It's order at the back counter to the right of the bar. Pay in advance with a three percent (I think) discount if you use cash. You get a number and they bring your dishes to you.
