However, after being here for just a few days, I quickly realized that I just joined a community that would shape my career forever. From the postcards that teachers are able to write students just to give them a little boost for the day to the amazing art projects that students are supported in making, Humanex knows how to impact every student that attends. As the clinical intern, I check in with students who are needing a little extra support as well as work with students who need help navigating relationships with peers and teachers. Adolescence is arguably the most critical period in a person's life. During this time, adolescents are learning skills that are necessary for higher education or work, psychological autonomy, forming close friendships, and developing a sense of self identity. This time can be a really exciting and challenging time because they are experiencing physical, cognitive, and social changes. Between Mrs. Cahill, the principal, and Dr. Tom Welch, the clinical psychologist, Humanex is very accommodating to those changes and challenges that are presented during this time. They understand that the stimulation and stress that is presented at public schools are not a good match for everyone, and they put a great deal of effort into making Humanex stand out compared to its larger counterparts. During my experience at Humanex Academy, I have learned about the importance of confidence. Confidence is often formed and solidified during adolescence. I am happy that I have been able to aid in the development of confidence for many different students as well as been able to learn about how a compassion and caring can go a long way when working with adolescents.

In my opinion, it was a great fit for him after having had multiple life changes over the previous few years. (divorce, multiple moves, so on) The small class sizes here allow teachers to gain a perspective on students that a typical classroom, quite simply, probably wouldn't allow. I thoroughly appreciated the insights teachers provided during P/T conferences. They gave not only academic but social insights into my son's life that I would not have otherwise had. (Don't tell him I said that ) Having said all of that, he decided to go to elsewhere for his high school years. Whether or not it's a good decision for him remains to be seen. In any case, I would urge parents (and their students!) to consider Collegiate Academy. As parents we must help our kids decide what is best for them at a given time. The beauty of Jeffco is this ability to have options. We haven't had this option presented so cleanly to us in any other school system. Please check them out.

Can not recommend this school enough. It was like a private school with out the cost.

Like many kids, my son was apprehensive about changing schools, but within a month he realized that he was where he belonged, and now he tries to spend every extra minute he can at school attending before or after school clubs. The International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum is an excellent basis for in-depth education and exploration, but the true strength of Mackintosh is the amazing teaching faculty and staff. All of the teachers seem to love their jobs and their students and with the low student/teacher ratios, the teachers truly know the kids and how to elicit their best thinking and work. Like all learners, gifted students have strengths and weaknesses, and the teachers are able to offer broad enrichment to support a student's strengths as well as support and scaffolding for a student's challenge areas. They are able to support a learner who may be three years ahead in math, but who finds writing a struggle. The teachers are willing to differentiate instruction and assignments and meet students where they are and gently push them to grow and believe in their abilities. Some more things that I love about the school: amazing grade-level theatrical performances, multi-day nature-based field trips for the older grades, outside lunch as weather allows, and a well-rounded curriculum that includes PE every day, plus either performing or visual arts every day and a period every day that is split between Spanish some days and design others. I wish more kids could experience a Mackintosh education. I saw some comments about bullying. I am not personally aware of any bullying at the school, and I haven't had any parents share any bullying experiences with me. Also, I haven't experienced any "cliques" among the parents. Everyone seems very nice and genuine. If you have a gifted learner who would benefit from a warm, enriching, education, we strongly recommend that you consider Mackintosh Academy.

Maria Cardona was in charge of creating from scratch the curriculum for a handful of kids for a few years. My daughter improved in her writing and reading comprehension a lot. The topics covered during all those years touched on many areas so I'm very appreciative of Maria Cardona's creative curriculum and patience throughout those years. We also had very good experiences with all classes, from advanced math, to art, and everything in between. I'm sure that will be key for my daughter's high school and college future

My daughter been going to this site since she was 2 &1/2. She graduates this year. They have staff there who aren't properly trained and or have no experience. They have been on probation for their childcare license since November of 2018. My daughter almost died in their care. Yesterday on April 8th 2019, I arrive to get my daughter during nap time , and I see white stuff by her mouth. I assumed it was food. As I'm pulling, it's getting stuck and I sit her up immediately only to pull a wad of tissue out her mouth. (Will post a pic) when I arrived both Jillian and Dalena were on their cell phones. (This is a licensing violation) I asked why there was tissue paper in her mouth while she was sleeping. Not either of them could answer my question as to how it got into her mouth and why it was there or how they didn't catch it was in there. Maybe they didn't catch it because their faces were stuck to their phones. I showed Jillian the tissue she kept saying "I'll get rid of that, hand it to me" I refused to hand it to her. She was eager to get it and dispose of it. Furious to not getting answers I grabbed my daughter and left. When I got home I immediately called the manager Heidi, she was unavailable so I left a message regarding my concerns. She did not call me back. I spoke to some girl named Mary, she contacted me back. Told me she'd contact Jillian and get back to me, which she did. But she was no help, very unprofessional and ignorant to the whole situation. She did not care that my daughter could've choked and died. She told me in her exact words "Jillian didn't know how it got there and was on her phone doing some work related things" I asked "how can we prevent something like this happening from the future to ensure my daughters safety?" She said "we're going to continue doing what we're doing, we not doing anything wrong" I was so appalled and humiliated for her. She obviously doesn't have training. I said "excuse me?" She said "this is just where we're at right now" "if you don't feel like your daughter is safe why send her here" I was in so much shock and disbelief that she said that. I responded "you think this is just going to be swept under the rug like it's no big deal? My daughter could've choked and died in her sleep" she said "it's just where we're at right now" I responded "if I have to take my daughter out for a safety concern that could easily be fixed I'm gonna go above and beyond to make sure you're facility gets closed down" "I will NOT allow you guys to treat me like I'm wrong for wanting a plan in place when it come to my daughter safety" I have requested a meeting with Heidi in person, let's see if she gets back to me. I would NEVER want any parent to go through what I went through and be treated the way I have!! I will NOT STOP UNTIL I GET ANSWERS AND CLOSURE. They need to be held accountable for their staffs action. Oh and the sad part, the director was in the class and still couldn't provide answers. They need to retrain their staff or throw them all away and start over. No innocent child should be in a position where they are not cared for, watched properly or safe. Will keep you guys updated once I meet with Heidi and let you know if I get this situation handled properly. I refuse to pull my daughter out. She deserves to be part of graduation like anyone else!! It's not her fault the staff isn't trained properly and have their faces stuck to their phones!! Stay tune for update.

Her professionalism and expertise in Accent Reduction are above and beyond my expectations. The provided materials - Accent Reduction 101 Third Edition and links to audio files - are extremely useful and easy to follow and understand. Her coaching skills are immensely engaging and there's never a dull moment. I've learned a great deal about how to leverage and maximize my full potential using the speech stairs method and placing my speech articulators in the right position to have a better range of motion and speak with clarity and confidence. I have a better grasp of the unusual nuances and oral resonance of speaking American English. I find all these tools beneficial for my future venture into teaching ESL. I may have missed out on the group webinar; however, Liz has given me an excellent opportunity to work with her other client(s) to enhance and reinforce our conversational skills. Overall, this class is worth investing in and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to jump start and improve their skill sets in mastering the art of speaking the American English.
