I was introduced to Specialites Nicoises during a walking food tour that I took to Nice (so glad I…read moredid it, otherwise would be really hard to narrow down where all the best local specialities are). It was fun to watch how socca is made and, as someone who has never tried it, I really liked it (not something I would crave immediately again but it's a good option for gluten free street food). Seems like there is always a line outside (which is an indicator for delicious and cheap food). It's more of a to go place so make sure it's packaged well as socca is pretty greasy and can create a huge mess. Overall, I would definitely go there again if I am in Nice.

This spot is in the old town part of…read moreNice, and it had a line of folks eagerly waiting their chance to order from among the various options, which included their traditional local classic socca, which is what our guide brought us there to try, and what appeared to be a selection of flatbreads, and thick crust pizzas. We got a chance to see how they make their socca, which is apparently just the same flour used for couscous, mixed with water, then placed an big, round, metal baking dish lined with olive oil, and then oven roasted for 3-5 minutes. Once done, it's just lightly seasoned with pepper - our guide said no other spice, otherwise it's not authentic in terms of local custom. I wasn't the biggest fan of the socca, though it wasn't bad, and their pizzas on offer all looked amazing - there's a reason they had the long line that they had. Next time in old town Nice, I'd give them a try!

I came here 2 nights in a row. First solo, and then with friends because I'd enjoyed it so much…read more Firstly, the atmosphere is lovely. The restaurant has a humble exterior (largely blocked by gelato customers), but once you descend the stairs into the dining area you are in a sheek, romantic, cellar. Intimately small but comfortable. The walls are lined with stone and endless wine bottles. The starters were all quite good. We had the snails, squid, and cheese plait. As a bonus, my waitress recommended an excellent wine to pair with the squid. It was spot on. My group shared the beef and tartafelle (forgive my spelling). The beef was succulent, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. I had no idea what to expect with the second dish but it was delicious and I would certainly order again. The prior night, I had the bakes camembert when eating solo. The dish is exactly as described. It's tasty, but I'd recommend it for a group since eating an entire block of melted cheese solo is challenging. Last but not least, the wait staff were wonderful! We really enjoyed chatting with our 2 waitresses, who went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed ourselves and our election of drinks. As a tourist, you really hope to stumble on a gem like this were the locals charm you and really guide your dining experience. If ever back in Nice, i'll certainly go again!

Also note there is no cell service or WiFi service in the restaurant. Nice ambiance in the restaurant and away from the hustle and bustle of Nice. We ordered the squid, Foie Gras and Filet Mignon. All 3 were very good though I am not a fan of the Fois Gras but it came with a nice salad and bread. The squid was seasoned well and cut thin and flash fried. The filet was sliced and cooked perfect The potatoes were great and also nice salad came with it. Service was ok. Prices Moderate.

The only decent dish we had was the pizza, and it wasn't even great. There was a string baked into our bread as well. Service did not match any of the other restaurants around and was not friendly. Don't waste your time with this place. It's just filled with American tourists.

The restaurant opens at 7pm for dinner and there was a line formed when we arrived around 7:20, very interesting experience for Europe. Living in the US, this restaurant reminds me of a lot of new restaurant group restaurants that just kind of have a system in place. Again, not a bad thing, but not your place if you are looking for something that feels like classic Italy. The portions here are huge, which they are known for. Note that the menu states each person must order an entree, which seems to discourage sharing (since they literally bring you an entire pan). I got the seafood pasta with shrimp and clams in a fresh tomato sauce and my friend got the lasagna. Both were really good dishes and huge portions. We both had a full meal of leftovers for the next day. Not anything I can't get at a good Italian restaurant in the US, but good food. The espresso martini was a good one though!! I think my 3 stars are more about the overall experience here. The food I would give a 4.

avoid at all costs…read more after traveling all day my mom and i went here for dinner. we choose to sit inside since we thought it was cooler. we had the RUDEST server ever. i understand that their is a language barrier and the french isn't always the nicest but this behavior was unacceptable. we sat upstairs on saturday june 28 around 7 pm and had a server that was on the shorter side and plump. i asked him for buttered noodles and he said the noodles were already ready and they couldn't just do that.. and then i asked for the chicken strips off the kids menu and he told me no as well. i asked if we could double it to make it an adult price and he still said no... my mom then told him we needed to leave since i can't eat there and he angrily said he would make the chicken. the rest of the night he paid our table no attention when he had about 5 tables walking past us. we starred and tried to flag him down multiple times as well and he ignored us. we sat for the majority of our dinner without water. when it was time to pay he rushed the whole transaction and then aggressively tore the ticket from the machine. in addition to this while i was using the restroom an employee came in did her business and didn't was her hands.
