So anyway I had to come back down the hill to this shop. I don't regret it. This shop was so cool. We tried flavors of the oil and seasoned olives. All pretty delicious. Bought a bunch to take home. Even threw in some as a wedding gift. It's so cool that it is harvested right here. I will have to come back in the correct season The shop is so cute inside. Lots of wooden cookware too that looked cool. Put a pin in this place because you gotta go.

We go there 3 or 4 times a year and pack up our oil that we religiously bring back to London, then we feel we always have a bit of Nice in our kitchen The store is next to the Cours Saleya and the Opera of Nice, and also sells lots of other local products, typically olive oild based like tapenade or pesto and even soaps. The oilive oil is the perfect souvenir, both delicious and decorative.

It was fun to watch how socca is made and, as someone who has never tried it, I really liked it (not something I would crave immediately again but it's a good option for gluten free street food). Seems like there is always a line outside (which is an indicator for delicious and cheap food). We got a chance to see how they make their socca, which is apparently just the same flour used for couscous, mixed with water, then placed an big, round, metal baking dish lined with olive oil, and then oven roasted for 3-5 minutes. Once done, it's just lightly seasoned with pepper - our guide said no other spice, otherwise it's not authentic in terms of local custom. I wasn't the biggest fan of the socca, though it wasn't bad, and their pizzas on offer all looked amazing - there's a reason they had the long line that they had. Next time in old town Nice, I'd give them a try!

Though I am skeptical about buying macarons at the airport, after buying a bad batch of macarons (not from Pierre Herme) once before a flight. The beef was succulent, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. I had no idea what to expect with the second dish but it was delicious and I would certainly order again. The prior night, I had the bakes camembert when eating solo. The dish is exactly as described. It's tasty, but I'd recommend it for a group since eating an entire block of melted cheese solo is challenging. Last but not least, the wait staff were wonderful! We really enjoyed chatting with our 2 waitresses, who went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed ourselves and our election of drinks. The green salad is just that, simple lettuces and a lovely olive oil and vinaigrette dressing. Paired with a pesto gnocchi that was excellent. Portion size is large, especially for Europe. Solid restaurant, especially for American tastes, but also totally forgettable.
